The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

My not-so-great experience with Storz-Bickel and the Mighty.

Purchased a mighty Via Storz-Bickel.com Thursday PM (917/15). It was shipped Friday and received Saturday. Super fast over night shipping. Awesome.

The SAME DAY I received the Mighty, the LCD screen began to flicker when I was inserting or removing the charging power cable. A few hours later the LCD screen went completely dark, if I used a flashlight and held the Mighty at an angle, I can barely make out the battery status and temp displays. The unit worked as expected (vibrates, produces great vapor and charge).

I contacted Storz&Bickel (Oakland) suggesting that as the unit I received was defective (LCD screen dead) and this occured on day ONE, would I be able to have a replacement shipped out overnight and I can then return the defective unit. This would cause the least inconvenience on me (customer!) and sort of make things better since Storz & Bickel sent me a shit unit and claim they are so high quality! Did you see the "quality" stickers as you opened the box??

I even suggested that I would pay a deposit ($399!) to ensure I return the defective unit once the replacement comes.

The initial reply I received from Storz & Bickel was a cut/paste job with the usual " We are sorry you are experiencing difficulties and would love to help!" email.

Honestly if it was my company and my product's LCD display DIED in my customer's hands the same day they received it, i'd be fucking livid and want to make it right ASAP.

Photo below of the unlit LCD backlight, but still showing the battery/temp display.

Maybe they don't give a shit?

Hey, welcome to FC? Not sure what the problem is, you must follow RMA like everyone else. They will send you a mailer, ship your bum Mighty (What quality product has 0% defect?) and expect a replacement within a couple of weeks. Pretty standard procedure. Sounds like you just had some bad luck. I presently own two Mighty's, both from 4/20 and neither has needed any warranty service. Hopefully that gives you at least some confidence in the Mighty? Other than some earlier Error code reports, and most recently one or two battery issues, the Mighty has actually been pretty damn rock solid, and IMO remains the best damn cordless vape on the market. The Crafty on the other hand.....I wouldn't touch until they iron out the issues, primarily the battery (or lack thereof!).

My biggest fear with the Mighty is the battery..... but i'm still not seeing any signs of fatigue yet. That $120USD replacement is something that I just can't stop thinking about.

Thanks for the reply BioHacker.

I read all 199 pages of this message board thread (and the rest of the internet) before purchasing the Mighty - it has a great reputation bar the issues with error codes and the odd battery issue. I did not read anywhere about the LCD screen dying so quickly. Storz-Bickel write that they produce,

"high-quality products with an ideal price/performance ratio and, last but not least, first class service."

First class service is getting my defective Mighty (LCD screen failed the same day I received it!) replaced with a working unit ASAP. They did not even provide a return shipping label until I made some noise about it! They expect the customer to ship a broken unit back on their dollar? Come on.

That's not first class, sorry.

What quality product has 0% defect? No idea and doesn't matter - I purchased the unit based on the things I read on S&B website. High quality product, first class service.

I did not receive a high quality product nor am I receiving first class service. :goon:

I'm curious whether you called and spoke to a human or reached out via email? It's so easy for vendors now to just shoot back some "stock" replies, with days in between. Phone is a bit more in-your-face when you're an aggitated customer!

I predict that'll you'll feel so much better about all this shortly after the new one arrives...

Yup, tried calling. No answer or voice mail picks up - both option #1 (sales) and option #2 (repair). I left them a message. Don't want to have to put a stop payment on the credit card but I paid extra for a reputable company and a reputable product. If the unit I received is an exception, then make an exception and fix it quickly!?

Hi Storz & Bickel if you're reading this :\

I'm with Pretty Clouds on this one. Mine was defective out of the box too and same bullshit from S and B. By the way S and B supplies shipping labels to U.S. Customers only (at least that's what I was told when I called). Cutting and pasting a reply is bush league at best for a company selling the most expensive portable vaporizer made.

S&B let me know they will be mailing a replacement today and to only return the main unit but keep the misc accessories as a gift. They said they didn't realize it was brand new.

A little bit of a run around at first but now I'm hopefully getting the solid unit I have read about on FC!:tup:

So has B&S redeemed themselves to you @Pretty_Clouds? I do hope you stick around and join in the fun? Looks like your "not-so-great experience with Storz-Bickel and the Mighty" may turn around for you, and quite fast!

I hope so! Will report back once the replacement arrives.

A different question - I have some e-liquid (oil) and used the steel pad as described in the Mighty instruction manual. The vapor was okay - I could taste and see it - but not huge clouds as I am used to. The temp is on max (I cant see the display lol). Do I need to lower the temp or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Bio Hacker!

No, your not doing anything wrong. The mighty will do concentrates but the clouds won't be massive. its just how it is...it doesn't get red hot like wires or skillets.

I will do dabs in the mighty, but I would prefer to vape bubble out of it...

I know neither are ejuice, but you face the same problem.

I prefer my temp control mod with ceramic wick and titanium wire for the likes of e juice and dabs

Well I received an extremely troubling e-mail back from S&B about the battery issues. I guess we aren't allowed to post private emails here even if it's just with customer support so all I will say is this: Do not buy a Mighty vaporizer unless you think the possibility of shelling out $120 every 3 months to keep it running sounds like a fun thing to do. If anyone wants to know what the e-mail said just send me a PM.

Thankyou. I haven't tried concentrates yet but plan on picking some up soon. Bubble is the best way to go if using the Mighty? Good to know.

I was gonna go wax, thinking it'd melt and vaporize easier - no scientific evidence to back that up other than it sounds good haha.

I am so lucky that we have solid Fair Trading laws in Australia that protect the consumer. We get a full two year warranty on our batteries with the B&S portables here.

It is pathetic the way you guys get extorted over batteries in the U.S. These units are expensive enough as it is.

Have you run through your issues somewhere within these 199 pages previously? PM sent.

Not asking for the email, but what was your unit doing when you sent it back in?

I must have missed the price for replacing batteries went up too. I thought when the Crafty/Mighty launched, the advertised price was $50 for the Crafty, $75 for the Mighty. But I might be a little hazy on those numbers.

Some people report paying $75, some $90, some $120.

Classic B&S!

Wax WILL work, it just won't produce fat clouds, just longer sessions. But you will get medicated.

Ouch! This is pretty huge, since I believe you are the first to report tired batteries, especially in such short time. What are your typical usage patterns? Charging patterns? I'm curious, because i've had 2 Mighty's since 4/20 and have used both moderately throughout the summer, and i'm paranoid about premature battery wear so i'm always monitoring, checking, etc. and even after so many months of usage, my batteries don't seem any different than new? I can heat up from 20c to 180c in under 1m:15s unless there are other parameters that should be measured. I still get as many bowls and everything seems the same as new, although on one Mighty the vibration seems to have become slightly weaker.

If $120USD is somewhere in my future (like it seems), it looks like the Mighty may not be for me afterall.

HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED ANY DETERIORATION WITH THE MIGHTY BATTERY?

My mighty just left for a warranty replacement again after 5 months of heavy use. It's not my only vape but it's the most used, I have to charge it 1-2 times a day to get 6-10 bowls out of it. To be honest, my usual consumption was around 6 bowls and 1 full charge.
I can confirm a slight performance drop. Heat up time is still the same on full batteries but I can't get more than 5 bowls out of my unit nevertheless how fast I tried to finish the load.

It wasn't doing anything because he didn't send it in because he doesn't own one because he wanted to find out from B&S first what the deal was with their battery policy because he's afraid of having to dish out $120 once or twice a year because that's a ripoff :ko:

I think i'll be moving on from the Mighty once and for all, simply for that reason. If it was $60 no problem, but at $120 and paying shipping back and forth (maybe $20 each way?) i'm looking at over $200cdn in order to fix the batteries. Fuck that!

I still think the Mighty is the best portable I have ever used, and should any changes occur (especially obviously removable batteries) I would buy one again. I just can't justify such an expensive product anymore. Maybe if they had Arizer's AAA customer support.
