I run mine through water exclusively now. At home the glass is put away but easily accessible if you know where to look :ninja: I keep my LB loaded with a trench and the whip nearby. Easy to get a few big rips with my bubbler and put everything away, no needing to wait for warmups or anything. Even dry with a stem and native I didn't get much irritation. I deflect the vapor off my tongue sort of so that it doesn't stream directly tot he back of my throat. Also drawing a bit faster to keep it cooler or setting the PA to a lower setting helps. But hey, I like the way you look at it. You used it, you liked it, and it helped you find your way around. Your needs have changed and you've found something more suitable. Pretty much everyone goes through that, part of the journey man  Keep it in the tin somewhere safe, I'm almost willing to bet that if I store mine properly it'll probably outlast my other vaporizers and maybe even me

Yup. I've gone through a bunch of vapes even tho I have 3 boxes. Two of them are perfectly new warrantied boxes that will only see use once the one in rotation craps out. Think the LB will always have a special place in my heart and in my rotation. There's really few vapes you can stash in the bathroom during family holidays that you can use in stealth mode taking a dump. Holidays with the in-laws has never been so much fun!

I have a serious problem with throat irritation when I use the MFLB. Does anyone else get that too? My throat gets scratchy, and it just feels irritated.

I haven't used it in months to be honest... I've been really into a new vape. But I decided to return to my walnut flight for fun tonight...and I'm regretting it. There's too many good alternatives now. I think it's time to retire it, sadly. Truly sadly, as it was my first vape, and what got me into all of this in the first place! RIP.
Funny, I had that with the Iolite (it was like sucking on a hair dryer), when I got the MFLB it solved all of my problems.

I sent a warrenty claim 2 weeks ago and still no reply. I got the confirmation email. But nothing. I even sent them a regular email. No reply.

Everything is set up and in place at the lab. Loaded LB, power adapter plugged into the strip. In the time it would take me to heat up my Solo I can get a few nice hits out of my LB and be good to go. It's nice having it packed as ready for use, like @KidFated. said, one or two hits and it can be put away for later.

@Silver0066 Are you charging 2 batteries at a time or just 1 battery?

My Model V-818 battery charger from Magic Flight states on the back:
One (1) NiMH AA - charges at 1400 mA
Two (2) NiMH AA - charges at 700 mA

When I charge one battery at a time it gets VERY hot upon completion. When I charge two batteries at a time they get moderately hot upon completion.

Excessive heat is not good for NiMH batteries, either charging or discharging. That is why I recently bought a Powerex Maha MH-C9000 charger/analyzer/conditioner. Couldn't be more pleased.

It gets very hot when charging 2 batteries. I sent an inquiry to MF over 2 weeks ago....no response. I have now purchased a Powerex Maha MH-C9000. Works great without overly heating the batteries. Larger than I hoped and I am out the price of the MF charger, but all is well.

It seems like I'm the only person who hasn't fallen head over heels for the MFLB.

I've had an MFLB for a couple of years and don't use it much. It takes forever to go through a load, like 30-40 minutes. And when the battery finally gets too weak, the herb is still green and vapey. I can see how that's a plus for some people who want to take their time and leisurely draw things out, but if I wanna pop outside for a couple of minutes, this is inconvenient. The stealth factor reduces/removes the need to actually go outside for a little walk, but it takes too long anyway, so I'm back to square one.

And the mostly-green post-vape can be smoked to stronger effect than what came from the vapor. Again, this might be a way for some people to stretch their entertainment budget, but inconvenient depending on field conditions or tolerance.

Plus the basic buzz isn't comparable to combustion and the batteries take a long time to recharge.

With 8 brand new batteries, i can use one from fully charged and get 2 "im too high for my comfort level in this environment" sessions before i feel like i should charge it. And i can finish a trench in less than 3 minutes uniform dark brown as stated above. My guess is new batteries. And/or power adaptor

Doing something wrong man. I can blow thru a trench in about 3 minutes if I have to. I can get stoned in 2 min everytime.

Bad technique would be my best guess. Specifically drawing too fast. The hardest thing to realize with the LB is you can get massively ripped by drawing ridiculously slow.

I dunno - it's been like this since day one. I don't know if it's the batteries and charger, as they get very hot after awhile, like too hot to touch, and they may start burning the herb. So I usually have to stop entirely and let the Box and the batteries cool off.

As for technique, I think I'm doing it right - I taste the vapor and keep tasting it and tasting it and tasting it. This is how I've been using it - am I doing something wrong:
-push the battery to start heating
-after a few seconds deeply suck out the vapor for 10-15 seconds, disconnecting the battery towards the end
-inhale and hold, then push the battery back into while exhaling, and repeat
-I usually draw slowly until things start heating up, then I suck harder to try to cool things down
-especially at the beginning, shaking it isn't enough to dislodge the load - I have to break it up by hand before I can shake it. I do this after every toke or two
-after a bit the herb is more dried out I crush it with my finger some more

After doing this continually for 15 or 20 minutes the battery gets very hot so I pull it out completely and let them and the box cool down for 5 minutes or so. I do this several times before the heating lamp inside gets very week. Still getting vape at this point, which is like after 40 minutes or more. The herb is less green than at the outset, but not really tobacco brown.

The buzz is short-lived and is like an old television when the color starts to fade. The one time that I got a more robust high was vaping the off-white dust that collect at the bottom of the bag and clings to it's sides.

Do people who use it have access to serious hydro, or does it work best with cheap dirtweed, etc? Because between this and the Iolite, nobody I know has been impressed with either of them. I did try a Pax recently, which I was surprised to find actually did the trick, and I'm wondering if people who swear by the MFLB maybe are used to outdoor shake or otherwise. I should add that my tolerance isn't super high - my pipe bowl holds less than a trench, and that's plenty.

Any ideas or useful advice?

Please try cleaning your box.
Use Iso on a Qtip... and without getting anything really wet, rub the two rods, well, and wipe them off with dry qtip.
Be sure they do not have an appearance of 'fuzziness"... that would be residues depposited on the rods, and that causes the symptoms you speak of....
Hot battery implies battery is at least functioing, but dirty rods can prevent appropriate conduction throughout entire screen. Try it.. it can't hurt.

Also try drawing in intervals ... it's the only way I can get the size of hits I like with the box. I hold the battery in for about 2 seconds then I take a micro draw, wait 1 second then take another micro draw, wait 1 second then take another micro draw and continue doing that until I've got a big enough hit. This technique also helps out for throat irritation.

I agree with the above posts... Batteries getting too hot = no bueno for battys. Perhaps try rotating two batteries so one can cool while you swap back/forth.

Cleaning the box can make a HUGE difference in performance.

I also use the micro hit (or sip) technique with very good results. I use with high grade, well ground/dry herb.

I wrote to MFLB about a little problem I had with a lot of resin building inside my box, they offered to replace it.
I have the one made with Maple, is it possible to pay the difference in the warranty process to get the Walnut one? ($149 - $119 = $30). I kinda want it.

PS: I ordered the Power Adapter V2, I live in Central America so it takes a while. I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT!

Hi all.

I got the PA 2.0 for my MFLB a couple of days ago and it´s doing quite well. Only thing that Im not completely satisfied with is the fact that it doesn´t work on the highest setting.
When on the highest setting (and close to it too) it will not work and instead it makes a "click sound", coming from the part which you insert into the launch box without any heating taking place at all.

Anyone know why this is? Im from Denmark and had to buy a transformer (uk male to danish male stick) in order for it to be plugged in. Don´t know if this might have anything to do with it?

Thanks in advance for your time.
