for the beta testers:
do the new batteries work well with the concentrate tray, or will i have to use my PA only?
Thanks in advance
While the new batteries did work to some degree with the concentrate tray, I would not recommend using them. IMO using the PA on max is the best way to use the concentrate tray. Anything less is not going to be as satisfying.

we need to figure out a solar panel setup for on the go using the pa ;)
We got a couple of options, you could get the PA and the car adapter plug for it for on-the-go, or you could build a power brick like OF did, and use that to drive the PA. I mean, you'll have to carry the little brick and the PA around, but at least it's mobile-ish and it works very well?

Actually I was doing this for a while last summer. I had a 12 Volt gel battery and small solar panel in the garden I'd plug the PA into.

I got some 'sun grown' bud (high tech indoor being the more generally preferred types around here) and kind of enjoyed using sunlight to vape bud grown in sunlight.....

I mentioned that I used the PA with the car adapter while using the concentrate tray. It worked great, just like being at home!! The only down side is that you can only use it while in the car. :(

Hate I've gone back a few pages now and can't seem to find an identity for the new batteries as to what brand and spec? Anyone got an idea? I'm well over due for new batteries and would rather not buy the 6month old batts from my headshop if they've been upgraded...

Just received my box and some extra batteries. The batteries with my box are different, they have the logo in the cover and " HL - AAN2200 1241-LX" in it, are these the new ones you where talking here?

Did you get the regular LB or was it the Exotic wood LB ?
I'm just wondering if they're selling the newer batteries by themselves yet .

I just checked the site and it doesn't appear to be selling separately yet. However their description is "NiMH batteries" so it's really anyone's guess

Hey thanx Pcp ,
Maybe it's just a misquote .
But bo said he got some " extra " batteries .

It would be cool to try them out without having to but a new Exotic LB ...at least not right
this moment ...hehe

That 2 batteries came inside the box with the MFLB, it was a regular one (maple I think?). Apart from that the extra 3 packs of 2 batteries I bought where the usual "POWEREX AA1240-AZZA" without the logo in the cover or bottom.

Well, the thing is, from what Magic Flight said about it to me, they actually custom-made these new MF Logo Batteries, new cell structure or something like that? They confided that it was a bit expensive to roll something like that out, which is why they only include them with the "premium kits." They may or may not be getting enough stock to sell, they didn't specifically tell me that but I infered it from the context. As for if they'll be available for sale, I don't think that's anytime in the next month or two. I mean, the Concentrate Tray isn't even officially out yet, if I were them I would be prioritizing that over getting more money for batteries. If anything, they can use the profits from the CT to make more MF Batteries. I will say though, having 4 batteries as well as two MF Batteries, I will be purchasing 4 or maybe even 6 of the MFB's as soon as I can. I like them that much. Coincidentally, I've lit trenches on fire (actual cherries and smoke and all) with the MFB's. Not even my Powerex 2700's got me to that point right off the charger. They've got a kick to them, and I love it.

i asked magic flight about the new batteries and they replied, that they will try to equip the maple kits with the special cells starting this summer. this will also include the european resellers. no word of selling the new cells separately, though.

All the new premium kits (cherry, walnut) come with the new batteries so im assuming you have either one but unfortunately the maple kits dont.

I bought a maple MFLB in PIU and it came with the new batteries.

What about a 2.5 watts backpacking solar panel i have the goal zero line http://www.rei.com/product/827121/goal-zero-guide-10-plus-adventure-kit-solar-charger" would that be ok to use with the pa under good sunlight conditions?

It will work, but like my garden system you'll also need an 'accumulator' (battery) since you need nearly ten times that much power (say about 20 Watts) to get the box going. We need something like 12 Watts at the screen and when you start working back from that (against efficiencies) you need to have about 20 on tap. No big deal from even a pretty modest battery pack if you don't want to store too many hits.

So, under good conditions you could expect to vape one minute out of ten. However, in 4 or 5 hours of 'good sun' you could bank enough juice for half an hour or more of heating, half a dozen trenches or more. Plus you'd have some modest power to run a few LEDs to have light to do it by.

Sounds like i got a little project to do. Im trying to justify extra weight in my pack for extra use. Was thinking of just charging my stock batteries with the solar panel but figured it wouldnt be regulated enough and could possibly damage them? How heavy would good battery pack be OF??

I assume you really meant 'how light could a good pack be?'? As a guess, with a little head scratching maybe four RCR123a would do it? A protection circuit for Li-ions might be easier to do maybe. I'd guess something between a quarter and half a pound? My battery pack weighs six ounces, 8 with case and cable.

The electric helicopter guys manage the make them fly after all.

The gel battery I used last summer is several pounds, but is rock simple to set up.
