****Here's the best way I've found:

sometimes I'll put my finger over the mouthpiece and let it heat up for a few seconds then start my draw and pulse the battery.
I always pulse the battery.

vape on!

Yes a pity about that.well..I hope You get to enjoy a few special magic flights over the holidays to make up for it.I asked MF a month ago about the walnut option for the orbiter.they mentioned they were looking at doing some but were very busy and weren't sure when.
The basic orbiter with the two added whip adapters make it a steal at $79 .Sure would make a good beginners entry setup.the walnut is $20 more. For that I'm hoping the wood whip adapters are made from walnut so everything matches.

I'm going to pick a walnut up & some glyph batteries to see if I can revitalise my boxes. Both my boxes started out much hotter than they get now.my batteries get hot as does my mk 1 PA but my boxes are slow to heat.I'm hoping the glyphs will add something. One more go.

BTW You can use wood stain to make maple darker but id leave as is.

the walnut is sweet, but maple is just MFs signature.
a classic IMO.

emailed MF about the UFO and got a reply and sent a pic but haven't heard back in a while.
CS must be busy?

Living the vape life
How can I order the box only? Thanks in advance for the reply.
Those prices quoted are a little dated: 2009 is five years ago! :D

The current prices are $119 for a full kit, and $69 for a bare box. However, you can only purchase the bare box by itself if you're part of the Magic Flight Connoisseurs Club. You need a valid serial number from a launch box you own to join. I would personally suggest just going with the full kit; it has everything you need to get started (awesome batteries, charger, essential brush, stem), and I'd say it's well worth the money.

If you're set on getting a bare box, you'll have to either buy one used (not a great bet since you won't know if the lifetime warranty hasn't been claimed and transferred to another box) or contact someone who is part of the Connoisseurs Club. If they're nice they might let you PayPal them the money for a bare box and order it for you.

Be careful ordering from anyone who isn't Magic-Flight or one of their authorized re-sellers. There are counterfeit boxes out there, you might not be getting the latest version, or even be getting one with a valid warranty. If you have any more questions feel free to ask in this thread. We'd all love to help! :)

Playing catch-up again, as usual :).

First, a few replies:

My Launch Box has been sitting on my shelf untouched for a while.. I'm thinking about getting the power adapter, looks like it really makes a big difference in vapor quality.
I like my power adapter. Doesn't really improve vapor quality so much as it just makes it easier to get more consistent results.

I combusted in my MFLB while using the PA. The screen is very discolored in one area, like black, but still intact. I purchased it on cyber whatever day, so it's fairly new. Do you all think it's still okay?
I've never combusted a LB, but I bought a used one on eBay for a very good price that the previous owner had apparently combusted tobacco in (do people actually use these for vaping tobacco?). In retrospect, that might have been intentional, to make sure it didn't smell like anything else prior to shipping. At any rate, I gave the screen a thorough-but-gentle cleaning with ISO and a Q-tip (actually, more like a half-dozen Q-tips) followed by a good hot burn-off or three. Even so, the first few trenches still tasted a bit of burnt tobacco, but that taste gradually disappeared.

For those with PA 2.0, anyone have the car adapter die? Had mine about 2 months, love it and use it often but plugged it in to car outlet today and no red light on the adapter.
Anyone know where to get replacement car adapter for a good price? Or whether there is a cheap and easy fix?
If you haven't already discovered and replaced a burnt fuse, or replaced the whole cord, I can tell you there is nothing special about the cord. Any generic passive power cord that fits and has the correct polarity (center positive) will work. Voltage and current regulation is accomplished within the PA2.0 circuitry - the car adaptor is entirely passive.

It's so efficient it only takes a tiny pinch anyway. ... Tiny loads can be fully absorbed in one session. Go little Launch Box!
Yep. MFLB is my go-to vape for speed and efficiency. Nothing beats it for a quick hit or for sampling something that you don't want to load up a full bowl of (which many other vapes require to function well).

Altoids Battery Box:

Perhaps this has already been suggested somewhere in the nearly 1000 prior pages, but an Altoids tin just happens to perfectly hold six AA cells:

I got the idea from a friend, who uses the batteries for miscellaneous electronics (hence why they aren't peeled in this photo of his battery keeper). The leather acts as an insulator to prevent short circuits, and also makes it less rattly. All it really needs is a strip around the perimeter of the inside of the tin. Rubber or even (thick, to be wear-resistant) tape would work.

OTOH, no leather, rubber, or any other additional insulation is required for capped batteries. Note that six capped cells will fit perfectly and safely if placed in alternating directions:

Oh, and as far as chargers go, I use an Ansmann Energy 16 - holds any combination of up to six C or D or twelve AA or AAA plus four "9 volt" - each slot is individually microprocessor controlled. I've been very pleased with it, and love that it can hold so many and all different sizes since I use rechargeables for almost everything.

is there an easy way to remove the wood portion off the water pipe whip without damaging the wood part? what i actually want, is to remove the acrylic piece from the wooden part. i was thinking cutting the whip and pushing the acrylic part out. but i'm not sure, if the fit is too tight or it's glued somehow.

Ok MFLB owners. Ive had mine for years now but just got to dropping a line here. Ive moved on a little since getting my MLFB. I See there alot of accessories now and that is awesome for keeping it relevant as Ive been preoccupied with other vapes.
Well, Boxie was called up to the majors again during the holidaze(which is why I'm posting) and he was clutch. Perfect situation to :
:whip::mflb:

I need to use this bad boy ALOT more. You really cannot beat the portabilty and quickness of the MFLB. The original reason I put it up was because of the battery situation(pretty common) If you really think about it, its not that the batteries are annoying; its that we as people are spoiled by technology. Instant gratification is what we want. People, do we not remember our walkmans and battery powered mini TVs running low on batteries back in the day? Our MFLB came with batteries AND charger. All they need to do is vape for us at this point.

Another rant from me today. Just giving my earned respect to the MFLB.

I am definitely interested in purchasing the mflb for stealth and on demand hits. I think I went the opposite route, going with high end digital vaporizers, instead of starting with the more inexpensive ones. Recently, I purchased an enano and am into wood finishes now. I have the maud dib for concentrates but would like this for flowers.

Should I buy directly off website or go with authorized sellers? Any discounts or codes? I was also looking at the firewood vaporizer but when I'm on the run, I want the vaporizer to be easy to pack. But mflb has the long track record?

What is the best mouthpiece, since I won't be using water? Is it the straight glass tubes or the wood finished mouthpieces?

Thanks for any insight or advice.

I prefer the 1 ft whip ,
It allows me to view my trench contents while vaping ,
and I can also shake the box with ease in between hits .

Don't discount Poonman's excellent advice, he knows what he's talking about. It's a big plus learning MFLB to be able to see the function. And the whip is an accessory, don't use it in conditions where it doesn't help out?

OF
I don't discount anyone's advice because it is always interesting to hear different points of view, especially because I am still a newbie at vaping. I have the black whip I got for my maud dib and the one that fits the orbiter too. I Am very excited to purchase this, even though it is on the lower end of price spectrum of my vapes. Mflb keeps it really simple and I really like that.

The best mouthpiece, IMO, is none. This is usually referred to as "native" mode. It's also the stealthiest; without an extra tube sticking out, most users can palm the box and battery, keeping it mostly, if not fully concealed even while hitting it. Looks kinda like you're putting your fist up to your mouth to muffle a cough. The other big advantage to native mode is one less part to carry around and possibly lose - or, if you keep the stem installed, it makes the Box less pocketable.

That said, there are times when a stem might be useful, especially while you're first learning and perfecting your technique (breath and battery control are important skills to be mastered to get the most enjoyment from the MFLB), or for sharing - but a glass stem is included. That might be all you need to get started.

I initially used the stem, but once I got the hang of using this vape, I gradually transitioned to native mode, and TBH I can't even recall the last time I used a stem. OTOH, everyone is different; try it with and without, and if you decide you prefer with, then you can explore the options.

Bottom line is the MFLB is a deceptively simple device. With few parts, there's little to go wrong, but between a handful of options plus different usage techniques, this simple device offers the potential for a plethora of varied experiences.
