Interesting...
I wonder what it/they could be.
I wonder what it/they could be.
Magic Flight got back with me about the warranty question, but I completely forgot to post it here!
I asked them exactly how the warranty works, and that some people believe they give a maple LB replacement for all warranty claims. They said that is not the case. The warranty covers the same box you purchased. Maple for maple, cherry for cherry, etc.
So, now that mystery is solved.
Well I'm not really supposed to tell you but MF has roughly 3 exact copies of every exotic wooden box they've made cryogenically frozen in an undisclosed location. You have to tune in to a specific number station and do some logistics to find a dead-drop package which contains coordinates to the real map.I wonder how they'll handle Koa, Fiddleback and the others?

My understanding is there's the regular boxes, the "premium" wooden boxes like the cherry, walnut, etc, and then there's the "exotic" koa/etc. The three tiers if you will, that's how I see it anyways. Your warranty should theoretically be lined up with the tiers, such that if you have a T2 walnut, the warranty will get you another walnut and not a T1 standard-kit box.I don't know what to say. I quoted Tina Marie verbatim when I said, "The warranty covers the same box you purchased. Maple for maple, cherry for cherry, etc."
They only have one model, with different wood types. What upgrades are you referring to?

They do only have one model of the LB, with the incremental upgrades (click-top, color of screen, etc). I think it's a bit much to ask MF to replace your 2 year old koa without the latch, for a new one with the old screen color (not that color matters anyways) that's NOT utilizing the ball. I don't know how disruptive to the creation process it is, I would assume that it's as streamlined as possible and holding up the line for a singular special order on something that hasn't been done for some time now might be asking a bit too much??
Besides Cherry and Walnut. What are the exotic versions? Koa is the only other one I've heard of. Wish I knew about these before I bought the walnut one... would have bought an exotic
I told you I should have put my damn box away... so much harder now that I keep hitting it
My understanding of this stuff says that means tinputuaranty you a box that works, not necessarily the same model. I was told as much when I asked if they'd have a walnut box to replace mine with, that may have changed but the official warranty does not reflect that.

I've been SOOOO delicate while using the supplied brush to clean it that you have no idea! The whole screen looks very fragile to me and never applied too much pressure. And I've only brushed it twice!@SeriouslyHigh- the area where the screen covers the rails on my LB seems similar to yours but i think mine has a few years on you. If i had to guess, i notice some light marks right below the rails on the screen and it shows that you might been a bit too rough while brushing the trench of your MFLB. only light brushing is needed and is purely for aesthetic reasons.
Yes that happened to my first box too, I had it for about eight months and it started to tear along the same place. I'm on OZ and bought my box off an Aussie supplier, but they replaced it for me. The new one is nine months old and still seems ok, I bought another one as back up if something happens to the current one, don't want to be without one.Hi Quetzalcoatl, thanks for your reply. Sorry about quality photo...but I took it with my phone and it's hard to focus.
The screen is not coming away but it's tearing along both metal heating elements. My worry is that the heat will not travel to the bottom of the trench and not heat up my herb.
Wanted to hear if it's just my unit or if it's a normal wear/tear case before contacting them for a replacement.

Hey OF...thanks for your lengthy explanation and I'm very glad to hear my LB will still do the job.
Besides, I may retire it soon since 'thanks' to the forum I've discovered and read good reports about the FV and I'm thinking to upgrade my unit to something that gives a bit more of a kick...and the FV sounds all too good.
I'm not 100% sure I agree with the last part.
@OF ... don't get me wrong! I'm loving the little box!! It's probably the good CHI of those guys who make them or what's written on it. All I was saying to the Aussie fellow is that I was finding amusing having a LB as a backup for a LB. That's all.
