Is there any place to buy the MFLB and only the box without any batteries or chargers or any thing else.
Just the box alone.

Thanks in advance

You can get the box without the charger at Blisssville. You still get a couple batteries and the cleaning brush and such. This should be a direct link: http://www.blisssville.com/product_info.php?products_id=203&osCsid=7ad500b097b658d7c00b7209ad9b9a48

Other than that, if you just want the LB and nothing else, you'll probably have to look at eBay.

I missed the link to the AC adaptor, but someone has said they already ordered it. Is it actually available yet (in beta, I realize)?

The link to order was posted by MF about 6 pages back. I don't know if they are starting to ship yet, but I can confirm I have NOT been charged so probably not.

From what I get from reading the order page is that its going to be a waiting list and they are going to go out in bunches? I ordered fairly early so hopefully im in the first 10-20 but who knows. So fucking excited for this too I have to get new 2700's soon as well.

If the car adapter is not available right away will my 70watt power inverter work? I dont see y it wouldnt

Does anyone have any idea when the adapters are going to ship? days? weeks?

Unfortunately I think at the price point for the AC adapter I would rather get a glass piece for my EQ. The MFLB works great for the portable usage that I got it for and really is a different type of Vape than my EQ.

For sitting around at home tethered to a power outlet at similar prices, I'd rather use a device specifically designed for that environment. Variable electronic controlled temp plus all the additional features just make it seem unmatched.

That said, I was really looking forward to trying the AC adapter.. but the price point is just a bit too high IMO. Buying a 60$ AC adapter puts the cost just about up at the EQ level while the devices are fundamentally different. I think it would be much more competitive if the pricing for the adapter could get down to around the 25-30$ mark.

gim,
Just got my MFLB two weeks ago and I am thoroughly impressed. The only problem I have is that the overall high is quite different. It seems like whatever strain I use in it I get the same effect of being light headed and tired. Can this be because of user error?

A question for recent purchasers of the Launch Box (eh, September and later). Do you find that the boxes tend to run hot at first and then normal, or consistently.

I bought mine in October, and it did run very hot for the first week or two, so hot that it tended to combust even with slightly faster drawing.

Since then it seems to have normalized, sometimes if I don't clean the tench shoulders it can even be harder to get it hot enough to finish a trench on a slightly used battery (some alcohol-q-tip wiping of the shoulders fixes this).

Different from smoking or from vaping with another device?

Wow, I am really having a hard time deciding between the Powerex C9000 and the LaCrosse BC700 or 9009. I like the more simplistic approach of the LaCrosse, but it seems like the Powerex is the standard. I can get a LaCrosse BC700 and 4 Powerex batteries for $42 on Amazon. The c9000 is $57 alone. The LaCrosse BC9009 is $44 alone.

I think it comes down to either the LaCrosse BC700 or the Powerex. Price really doesn't matter much to me in making this purchase...

edit: The 9009 actually comes with a travel bag, 4 AA batteries and 4 AAA batteries. They are LaCrosse batteries however, and I have not heard of anyone using them...

Tstat, a few comments. One, is that the LaCrosse batteries aren't that good. Average, but not as near as good as the Powerex (Imedions) or the Eneloops.

Secondly, is that there have been reports of the 9009 along with the BC-900 going into meltdown mode due to missed terminations. Ther addressed that with a software change and a change in their power adapter, but it happened non the less. Btw, reported meltdown issues occurred with the first generation of C9000 as well, which was also addressed with a software change. Absolutely no such issues were ever reported with the BC-700.

The C9000 is a VERY good charger, but then, so is the BC 700. A lot of people who, like pro photographers, go through tons of rechargeables, have both of them are are satisfied with each.

Yea, it looks like the bc700 with Powerex batteries is the way to go. I just finished reading a crazy amount of battery info on other forums as well as the reviews on Amazon. I already have the package in my shopping cart, so I am going to go ahead and buy it. I'm just not happy with my stock batteries already, and ski season is just around the corner :)

Hi,

Couple of questions to answer: Orders have been received for the Beta power adapter, and we have started shipping these. Many of them are expected to go out today (Monday).

Also, we have made it a practice to not send confirmation emails when an order is received (although we could start, if there is a consensus that that is preferable). Usually we send an email only when there is some difficulty in processing the order and we need some feedback. Mostly, we try to keep things as simple and as uncluttered as possible (which includes people email inbox).

PS: It is also likely that we will be opening purchasing for the Power Supply to all FC members fairly soon this week.

Edit: corrected negation.

A reasonably priced alternative is the Maha MH-C204F. I got it with 4 Powerex 2700 mAh batteries for about $30 and it works fine. The only complaints I have with it are that you must charge in pairs, and I can't figure out how to properly refresh 4 batteries at the same time. There is only one button that changes the LED display's color and it's confusing as to what is actually happening with the 2 pairs that you have in the charger. To avoid this confusion I just refresh one pair at a time and it works fine for me.

Good Luck!

also, your post reads like you do send out emails confirming, but i believe the intent is to say that you don't.

thanks for continuing to rock my world.

Again, to clarify, Powerex is the name for the Maha line of HSD 2700 mAh batteries. Imedion is the name for the Maha line of LSD 2400 mAh batteries, which are the standard batteries delivered with the LB. I think it's important to be clear on this because most people report a significant difference between Imedion (good) and Powerex (excellent).

Edited to fix quoting

I have 4 powerx 2700s and a Energizer 15 minute charger. I've used them for about 8 months now without a problem. But which charger or batteriers are "the best" all depends on your personal preferences and how you use them. Some people think the 15 minute charger will kill bats. I haven't had a problem with that. Could be luck. Or it could be I read the instructions and make sure the fan is never obstructed so there is a constant stream of air on them and I don't unplug it until the fan turns off and the batteries are nice and cool. But some people lay it down so the fan can't get any airflow (duh) and the bats overheat, or they unplug it as soon as the light turns green instead of waiting for the fan to turn off. If you use it properly (follow the instruction manual) than it should work great for you. Don't get so caught up in the technicalities. Hvae fun.

The 15 minute charger will shorten the lifetime of your batteries. That's simple chemistry at work and it's unavoidable. Whether the shortening is significant, especially if you take the care you do, is up to the user.

I don't do it because I don't need to, but I wouldn't hesitate if I absolutely had to have a battery in a real hurry. I've never been caught that short however, and I don't anticipate it happening. I have four Powerex 2700s for daily use and I've never had fewer than two that are fully charged. Even if I somehow ran out, I keep four Imedions (LSD) for travel and they are always charged unless I am on the road.

I'm curious why you feel the need to use a 15-minute charger. Do you really blast through all four Powerex batteries in under two hours?

Not that I feel like I have to explain my vaping amount and frequency to anyone, but I use medicinally for glaucoma and fibormyalgia. I have to smoke/vape the equivalent of a joint AT LEAST ever 3-4 hours. I like the comfort of knowing that relief is only minutes away. But now I have a MZ for use at home the LB has become a "on the go" thing (or something I use if I have to wait for the "floor model" to warm up), so you are probably right about it not being necessary. But for some people it's an option if they wish. If you use the charger correctly the batteries don't get hot at all. I've been using the same powerx batteries now for almost a year and they run just like when I got them. Remember too, all batteries will hold less juice over time.

I'm just saying, it's not as complicated as some people make it out to be. You can read all the reviews, buy the expensive, slow chargers and get a few extra recharges out of them, or you can use the 15 minute one, 4 powerx 2700's and just leave the complicated charging stuff to people who are into obsessing over electronics.

Peronsally I would rather see the LB run off of rechargable lithium batteries. THAT would be the ultimate.

^^^^ for the record i used a 15 min charger for a few months, it ruined my batts because of the heat it produces. im not saying u need a top of the line charger, just that a 15 min charger damages batteries. if you don't want the bells and whistles make sure your simple charger is microprocessor controlled, and not a 15 min, or one that charges for a set amount of time no matter how full your batts are.

Edit:IME and IMO.

The batteries don't get hot in the energizer 15 minute charger if it is used correctly. Most people do not use it correctly. It has to be stood up on it's end so the fan can send cool air through to the batteries, and then it has to remain plugged in until the fan turns off (about 10 minutes after the green light comes on). Most people lay the charger flat, restricting the air flow, then unplug it as soon as the green light comes on, thereby over-heating the battteries. That will make them die fast, but using it the right way will not. The heat is the only thing that would kill the batteries. They can't "over-fill" and they don't store memory like the old school batteries.
We need a different thread for battery chargers. I just don't want anyone to get turned off from the Launch Box because of the complications associated with all these battery charger disagreements which are not necessary. Everyone has preferences and it's just ridiculous to criticize someone because they prefer the 15 minute charger, and recommend it to others.

Criticizing someone is one thing. Bringing up why a 15min charger may not be the best choice is another.

Here's another concern about 15 min chargers. At the high rate these chargers are charging at, if a termination is missed, and you're not around to monitor this, it could pose a fire danger. So again, to those that want to use a fast charger like this and don't mind the fact that it will prematurely wear down your batts, at least make sure that you are using your charger on a non-flammable surface. While this is good advice for all chargers, with a 15 min. charger, imho, it is mandatory.

Personally, I see nothing wrong in using a 15 min charger in those circumstances when you need an emergency charge, but for regular use, day in and day out, I'd use a charger with less of a charge rate.

I used the energizer 15 min charger, upright like you said and i allowed for the cool down(i know how to read directions). the batts got super hot, and after a couple months they were unusable in the box. that was my experience. where did i criticize you? i think you are confusing disagreeing with criticizing. if you have had a dfferent experience thats awesome for you. for me, it sucked. dont take it personally.

wow so it looks like im gonna have a power adapter midweek. good because my batts are getting shot :) sometimes i forget and leave them in the stock lb charger overnight and i think over the last couple months its killed them. Next to buy is a new set of 4 2700's and a good charger (whichever one i choose)

as far as the 15min charger i now only use it for the set of energizer batts i use for shit other than the lb...actually its really nice considering they get charged every couple months but never for everyday lb use imo

This is not going to be another battery post.

I just got my MFLB in the mail today (From 1percent.com with the black friday discount!). I knew this thing was going to be small and even have seen to scale pictures but you really don't get the sense this units dwarfism until you unpack it all. It all came in a neat little tin too :)

I charged the batteries and followed the enclosed instructions.

This thing rips.

For a portable unit I don't think you can get any better. Compact, easy to use, simple yet quality manufacturing.

I'm still getting used to draw speed and heat up time but so far so good. I'll slowly put more serious time on this thing. It won't completely replace my EQ at home but it will be a warmly welcomed addition.

What a great little device!

has anyone elses's tube of the MFLB becoming yellow after many uses? I see some kind of crystally residue in there and I insert a qtip in there and swab it around and I can get something really sticky coming out of there.
