On the underside of the Lotus cap there is metal collar that rings the opening within. I think mine is starting to corrode or rust on that ring? Is this possible? or is it just becoming discolored from use. I don't see that area getting very hot. Thanks

I soak my WPA and the screens in 91% ISO without any problem (save the dirty ISO - evaporate it for some reclaim!)

NEVER soak the Lotus cap itself. The *only* cleaning I do is a light burst of air from a can of compressed air into the air intake & outtakes on the cap. If you have an excessive amount of ABV debris in your cap, you could remove the top heat plate and use some compressed air to blow away the ABV dust. (I suggest you do not risk stripping the holes or screws unless you absolutely must remove the top plate)

If you have the natural finish cap and wish to clean the wood, you can rub some unscented mineral oil or beeswax onto it and buff it out. (AVOID any oil/wax on the hot plate!)

That's the penalty of using a stainless steel that is magnetic. Unfortunately it will rust some. Sandpaper or steel wool should clean it up.

Alright, so 2 thumbs up for this little thing

The beauty is in the simplicity. The fact I can throw it on literally anything and vaporize is fantastic, and it works so so great with my bubbler. It works pretty well with the J-Hook too, but I got it to really chief out of big pieces and to that degree it works amazingly.

I was being a little to cautious at first and not really heating the plate enough, but I'm keeping the tip of the flame on the cap basically the whole time, but never ever leaving it in one spot. Getting massive rips, I don't think this is gonna damage the cap but idk?

Also, love how it emulates smoking so well. My buddy packed a bowl to smoke last night while watching TV and I was able to "smoke" with him. Force of habit, but some old habits die hard, there is just something about the lighter, the act of hitting it through glass pieces, just feels A LOT like smoking so that's very cool that I can keep that experience while staying healthy.

Would recommend it to anyone

I got distracted and burnt some of the wood. Is it possible to sand it down a bit? Or will that effect the quality in some way,?

I believe the only issue is if it's burnt on the inside. If it's not, quality shouldn't be affected.

I'm almost sick lol. Whole bowl of kief to the dome, seriously works fantastic.

Few days in, managed to really milk my pieces every hit, even at the start. I just have to make sure I'm heating it properly, and I know it says in the instructions not to tamp it down, but I found packing it provides for a better experience and easier consumption. I figure this is added as a safety precaution to prevent early users from combusting, but seriously works exponentially better packed then loose.

Taste is definitely the lowest of my vapes, its not bad by any means though and its somewhat expected since I'm blasting it at a higher heat then the other two, I have no doubts about that as I heat the cap thoroughly and have a pretty slow inhale. Massive clouds though

You can fine-tune your technique even further, to improve the taste aspect just use a little less heat.

I don't use canned air as much as I used to for this kind of thing as most of the vendors now add a bitterant to the air to discourage idiots from huffing it. This CAN negatively effect the taste of your Lotus.
So, definitely go out of your way to find canned air that doesn't have this shit. It IS out there...

For my other equipment I bought a Giottos Rocket Blaster

It sucks in air from the rear so that any dislodged dust doesn't make it in through the front where you just blew.

True, I suggested the can since it's more accessible. But I didn't realize the bitterant. I actually use compressed air from my portable air compressor with the regulator set low (around 60PSI). I also have a "Hurricane" battery powered dust blower (high volume low PSI air cannon) which works great

If I wanted to use an herb with a low vaporization/combustion temp (e.g. spearmint), or if I wanted to take more of a sip than an intense hit, would it be easy to keep a lower temperature?

I suppose it'd be a combination of: less heat up time, less torch time, more distance between the flame tip and the plate, maybe a faster draw speed?

Oh, and please tell me I'm not the only one to have broken a piece of the scoop off while trying to assemble it, haha. Accidentally bent it back and forth. It seems like a great accessory, but it's more fragile than I anticipated.

Think of it in terms of the spigot analogy. You can fill the bucket on low and slow, or fast and furious.

The concept applys to vaping in general, but with a torch driven vapes especially since the possibilies are infinate between raw flower and ash. The fun is in learning and I find it to be a very forgiving vaporizer.

The Lotus w. the stock stem is definately great for sipping.

Why not just get a can of Ronson from your closest gas station and start making things happen?

For sure, shitty butane might make your torch sputter and work a bit shittier than the "good" stuff but no need to wait. Best thing about the Lotus is the infinite flexibility from sipping on those delicious terpenes low and slow to banging out toe curling, face ripping blasts in a hurry. Of course, developing these skills requires diligent effort over months of rigorous training and a total commitment to excellence. wink wink.

Lotus is back in business! I wondered why air didn't move very well and why so burned taste. Figured how to remove screen and under it huge amount of crap. Now it feels like it got new pair of lungs.
