Do many of you think that the screen is too fine?
Does anyone think that the screen should be as fine as it is?

Also, after finishing a bowl or two I'll take the cap off and empty the vaped bud and smoke the resin and herb on the screen to clear it up.. Anyone else do this? I think it's an effective way to open up airflow and also gives me a great vapor-resin-y hit.

I didn't replace the stock (extremely fine mesh) screen until late into my Lotus ownership. The fine mesh would constantly get clogged and required burning out every 3 to 4, largish 2 scoop bowls. So yeah, I was doing the exact same thing, since the Lotus requires a very clear air flow. I never really enjoyed those hits personally, and I do smoke from time to time.

To VN, it's very different from VG, separating the butane from the air path, with a smaller bowl and higher quality construction, with accompanying higher price.

It's a very different animal from the MFLB, with a different purpose in life, mflb is at its best when stealth is priority number 1, Lotus comes out when that priority switches to efficiency and flavor.

I'd say Lotus probably has a smaller learning curve than either. You'll have a hard time teaching the dumb or disinterested (yeah I used that in another post) to use any of the three.

Really? You think the Lotus Vaporizer is more efficient than the MFLB? I eally enjoy the efficiency and flavor of the MFLB, but if you're saying the Lotus is better, then I gotta try it.

This thing is way more efficient than my MFLB. You must try it.

Lmao. I didn't realize I never posted anything. XD

##EDIT

I cannot stress anymore how efficient this thing is. I feel like I'm just starting to vape again, that's how much herb I'm saving. Even if your tolerance is high, this thing lowers it for you.. I have a low tolerance myself, but now its almost non-existent.

Both MFLB are Lotus are highly efficient, although honestly the only vape I've used which is at all conspicuous in its consumption is MAYBE the volcano. Saying one is more than the other is a little misleading, I suppose. The MFLB bowl is the equivalent of many, many one-scoop Lotus bowls and so hits longer, while the Lotus bowls are smaller and go faster, but I would say at the end of the day they are roughly equivalent.

Is there a difference in flavor between the MFLB and the Lotus? Since the flavonoids boil off at a lower temperature, and at the first hit, I would think that the Lotus would deliver more taste. Is that anyone's experience?

@MaxJitter..
I asked about screens because my screens somehow have large tears in them.. I've been using other screens with the lotus since I had to replace the first.

Also, another thing that's become apparent to me.. The vapor cap becomes very gunked up after a lot of use.. A quick scraping removes most of it but some must still be up there, no? :/

I'm also noticing a few burn marks on my vapor cap.. it's right behind where each of the screws is.. I can't smell anything and am getting vaporization but should I expect this to happen over time? I have a few bubbles in the paint on the underside of the vapor cap, too.

##Edit:
Also.. I'd say the taste of the MFLB and the Lotus are similar..

Screens
Send us a stamped self-addressed envelope and I'll send you some free screens.
Vapor Cap
Try cleaning the vapor cap with a q-tip soaked in iso. Be gentle around the diffusion plate with the holes in it as it's thin metal. There is a small gap between the inner sleeve and the diffusion plate where stuff may have fallen. You won't be able to access behind there and I wouldn't recommend trying.
Burn Marks
The burn marks surprise me. We haven't seen that before. There are several things that could be happening:
1) Angle of the flame to the hot plate - The flame should be almost perpendicular to the hot plate, not glancing off it a shallow angle.
2)Circling the flame - The flame should be aimed and moved in a circle that is smaller than the ring described by the indentation in the center of the hot plate. I've seen some people move the flame in a circle that is aimed at the middle of the radial lines that are on the vapor cap. I suspect that is what is happening.
Tell me if this helps.
You shouldn't be breathing in any paint fumes for the same reason that you aren't breathing in butane fumes, but no one wants to break their toys/tools.
The paint is alkyd, soon to be transitioned to acrylic.

Still lots of Lotus love going on with me!

My cap seems to collect some plant material and stuff that looks like kief. What I have been doing is using one of these to blow out the cap (and also the bowl) after each use:

http://www.amazon.com/Giottos-AA190...0502/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1299275489&sr=8-4

It clears out everything except material stuck to the screen. The other thing I have been doing is soaking the bowl end of the pipe in some ISO once a week or so. The performance degrades if the screen gets clogged. I don't know what it is about the Lotus, but the screen gets "gooey" faster than any other vape I have used. Very minor issue considering all the positives with the Lotus.

Switch to a looser mesh and it'll be far less of a problem. Any (noticeable) particulate getting through is caught on the stem anyway - worked for me.

Max, I see you're asking a few posts up about the mesh. I had and enjoyed the Lotus for some time, and would of kept it happily for years if it had a wider bowl. I feel it's a very quality product and your lightning quick response to all concerns and issues on this forum is a serious credit to your business. On the topic at hand, I do think the screen mesh was too fine. It was a B. I got my Lotus used from a great forum member, but I think it was the stock screen by others' descriptions. I got to burning it out every 4 or 5 bowls just to clear it, until I changed to a looser mesh and the problem was averted.

Here's an idea, you should consider a tiny glass pad like the volcano and some other vaporizers have or a steel-wool type insert upon which oils and the like could be placed. I imagine costs would be very low and in one stroke the Lotus is turned into an amazing oil pipe.

GREAT idea. A pipe that vaporizes flowers as well as it vapes concentrates. That doesn't exist yet.

Offer the oil use as an option or increase the price a bit and sell it as a dual-mode pipe? I think I'd go for the latter only because there would be no competition...........yet.

I've tried vaporizing both 'flowers' and concentrates in my VG and Lotus.. The temperatures have to be high enough to vaporize the concentrate, but low enough to not burn the herb.. It's too complicated IMO/IME. (this is when trying to vape flowers and concentrates at the same time)

If you wanted to vape a concentrate in the Lotus then you're ready.. Just add two or three screens and vape the concentrate. The vapor from that type of hit feels so different in the Lotus compared to other pipes but I like it :)

What I am referring to is something like this, or another application of the same principle made out of glass. It is the "stacked screen" principal taken to its ultimate, factory-made end. The same steel-wool type material could be used in the Lotus, the Vaporgenie, even the glass vapobowl or vapocane... Or the Extreme or the Herbalaire.

Charlie, have U tested it?

I do not have access to my Volcano right now for reasons which are infuriating, due to someone acting dishonorably. If the situation ends up snowballing you can all join me in sending the person hatemail, or just evil thoughts. Naturally this dishonorable person came from a source other than our wonderful, nay beatified forum.

Believe me, I was very curious when I read about your method and wanted to try it - I hoped this would of been settled and I could of posted after trying it. Now I might never. Funny this came up through the Lotus/vaporpad discussion, and how the topic is thrust back on me when I am trying not to think about it. Not to grief you at all - I've actually really enjoyed many of your thoughts on some of the different model posts, almost all have been of real value to people with a need for practical or academic understanding of a given vape.

VAPOLITICS!
Sorry to hear about your Cano situation... and reminding U about it! I won't talk about it any more, word!

Thx for the compliment. I try to give back what I received reading these pages extensively... And I must return the compliment as I always enjoyed your posts & tips...

But lets stop "sending us roses" as we say in France! :D Lotus, sorry for the little flooding!

SOMEONE POST A VID OF THEM USING THE LOTUS PLEASE!!

I'd like to see this as well. I have and LOVE my MFLB, but I miss the ritual of smoking. I'd like to find a way to get that back without inhaling all the junk associated with it. This vape looks pretty promising. DAMN do I want to try it out.

most seem to be going for the short stem. for current owners, is there really that much of a difference between the short & long stem?

sunsett70,
I had the short and never had any desire for it to be any longer, if that means anything to you. It could of been shorter, even.

question to the manufacturer: you've mentioned new accessoires. what are they and when will they be available? what about the water pipe adaptor, is it ready? living in europe i want to order all at once, in order not to spend the shipping costs twice.

thanks

We are now stocked with long stems, water pipe adapters and a soaking glass for cleaning your stems. We will have short stems available in a few weeks along with a different type of grinder.
Everything will be on our website this week.

Short stem was comfortably pocket sized for me. Heat diffuser cools fast so the whole thing is very pocket friendly.
