The Lotus Vaporizer

Thanks for the reply- i've been debating between either the lotus, jhook, waterpipe attachment or the GVG. I love my current VG but im still leaning toward the lotus. I also imagine the reclaim from a jhook or GVG is easy to collect

EDIT: How is the torch that the lotus comes with?

I actually have never tried to reclaim anything, but it seems like with either one you could just rinse with isopropyl alcohol and let it evaporate.
I didn't get the torch Lotus sells, I'm using a Zico that works great.

I will be without my lotus for a little bit. I lent it to my friend who is currently vapeless. I figured I might as well let him try my favorite inexpensive portable. Not only that, but it's super durable, I've dropped it countless amount of times (I drop things a lot) and it has never let me down, so I don't need to worry about it.

How is the torch that the lotus comes with?

At the time I ordered my Lotus I also ordered 5 of the same torches from one of the Chinese sites.
I'm still using the first of the 5 a year or more later. Their pretty good if you get a good one, but die fast if you get a bad one. The original that came with my Lotus died on its second ignition. Mendocino replaced it free of charge and that one still running strong as well.
Spend a few minutes watching some care videos on YouTube, makes a big difference in their performance.

So I now have an e-nano to compare to the lotus and I must say I love the lotus just as much as the e nano if not more.
While the enano does have ease of use going for it, I find that when I hit the e-nano dry through a jhook it produces alot of heat on higher temps. So much that it can even be uncomfortable to hold the bottom of the glass jhook sometimes.

With the lotus however with proper technique you can acheive those same lung busting hits but I notice way less heat build up in the glass and a much cooler hit!
Plus I really love the "pipe like feeling" you get using the lotus.
I vaped a couple bowls on Sunday morning with my coffee and it was wonderful.
Its so small clutter free and easy on the eyes and I can confidently say that when I'm vaping at home by myself Im going to be reaching for the lotus.

Vaporizers have a temperature drop during the draw. However, you're right as it's the only vaporizer that I let drop that much during the draw. It makes it a lot smoother of a hit IMO.

How's the flavor compared to a vapor genies first few hits?

EDIT: Do they offer a FC discount as well over at lotus?

IMO the flavor of the lotus is definitely better than the VG (at least the orginal version, never tried the glass one)
But bear in mind technique is a factor also. You can combust with either.

Im having issue with my lotus..ive tried multiple grinds and filling levels and torches for that matter. I have even tried to heat and wait for the red dot and then draw and that is my best results but I still have to draw for upwards of 20 seconds to get a good hit.if I just start the hit while the torch is on bowl i would be out of breath be for I got a hit. Its near impossible to combust..ive tried just to see what the problem is. Ive watched countless videos and they get fat hits..

Already tried to inhale very slow?

perhaps more heat is needed while drawing? maybe too small flame? maybe torch too far away from the plate?
in my experience, the fattest hit is when the temp of the plate is just below the point where it glows red, and that 's pretty close to combustion if not careful...

have you experimented with the length of flame necessary in order for the red dot to keep glowing while inhaling? (note: for me, drawing with a red dot for more than 2-3 seconds = combustion )

Are you using the aluminum stem or the j-hook.

I find the j-hook is really helpful for getting good clouds.

Moreover, I found that vapor density depends on how you start your hit. If you want to cloud chase, you really need to start drawing slow until the vapor starts to build.

I have had to stop mid-hit, let it cool down, and then re-start my hit just to get better vapor production. It's something about how you start the draw makes all the difference.

Ive tried slow and I wait til red dot but as soon as I start drawing the dot goes away ie cools down..and I cant combust if I tried it seems..flame is hot..it almost seems like plate wont hold heat? Or transfer heat?? It seems that I def get medicated it jjst seems that something might be wrong because I have to draw for so long? Basically just seems mine is different than others so figured maybe something was wrong

Have you ever had success with it, or have you had this problem since day 1

After your first hit, do you notice the load tends to be black/cooked only in one part of the bowl? Almost as if you were heating just that one part of the cap? No matter how you heat the cap, the load always comes out cooked in one spot, and not brown overall

Do you have a spare plate (or the tool to remove the hotplate)?

Yeah I have a tool to remove and that tends to be some off issue..its almost as if it not getting hot enough all over.

I have had success it just that it seems as if it takes forever to get a hit..like long draw and its really smooth but not power punch like I hear other people have..

Do you pre-heat it before beginning to draw?

I like your style Jitter. Welcome, Nice first manufacturer post.

You need to add in a direct connect for 14mm and 18mm glass. Throw it in as a package. Has this been tried filtered through water directly into glass? If heat retention is correct, this could be very nice.

I may have just made you some money, i hope. :D

Edit: Oh, and i think you hit the nail on the head with the scoop. Great addition to the quick on the move portability of this product. But with glass, it might have more of a home market value too.

If this has already been mentioned, i apologize.

Went back to read the beginning of this thread and saw this post from myself in September of 2010. I guess i was interested in this vape almost 5 years ago and don't remember. But right away i saw its value when attached to glass.

Cheers all. Got a vapman on the way but this is the next vape on my buy list.

Really hate to say it, but the cap may be dead/damaged. Remove the hot plate and look at the inside. Check to see if the inside plate is securely installed (there is a trim ring that holds the plate in place). If the inside trim ring or plate are loose, that's your issue.

I found when my first cap died, it was impossible to combust. There was a noticeable difference in the performance of the vaporizer from when I first had it to what I noticed (That's when I took it apart and noticed the problem)

Does anyone know if the high heat lotus will be out soon? Also when it comes out, will it be a new cap or just a new heat plate? Been putting off a heat plate replacement for a while (it dents in/warps with heat blocking the airpath) and debating just biting the bullet now.

As a side note I love the Lotus. By far my favorite vape. :)
