Hey guys. Started reading up on this Lotus and looks like a great little beast.
Any information on best place to buy and any discount codes?
Seems the cracking plates is the Achillies heal for it. Is this a big concern generally?
Best to get pipe+gong adapter kit?

Don't let that discourage you. Mine is an old version and the plate has been redesigned.
In any case, the customer support is top notch and have been addressing all customers with plate failures.

Get the WPA~ It is a perfect pairing with water

@Pipes I hated the LOTUS at first.
However at night before bed this is my medical device!

For me it is just like a joint however healthier and I think the taste is very good!

Plus it pairs well with water pieces.

The SS adapter I prefer over a glass on because it's unbreakable.

I have other vaporizers like you however I use this one a lot lately!

Mine is scorched however still works well. It's pretty ugly now but it has so much character! (IMO)

No FC discounts from Mendo directly - though you might find an FC discount for a vendor online that sells it. -edit! I stand corrected, there's a 15% coupon code for 4th of July

I would buy direct and give MT the business, it's worth the $99 for the WPA kit!

I've dropped my Lotus and the WPA from standing height onto a concrete patio. The 18-14mm glass adapter I was using shattered into a million pieces. But the WPA and the lotus cap survived without any problems.

Thanks for the info. Was thinking the pipe too, just for the portability aspect. Maybe instead get one of those smaller 90 degree 14mm adapters.
Any suggestions there? Any other options for portability besides the OEM pipe section?
My trigger finger is itchy...

options are pretty varied, anything with a 14mm joint will work.

I have been enjoying mating with the Sheldon Black Travel Bubbler, but there are smaller and more portable options out there.

I have been wishing I bought the stem, bc from what I have gathered its bowl is closer to the heating element meaning less herb, what I have found my favorite hits are one hit style and just repack. I know it's more of a hassle but in my book it's a rewarding technique. The wpa is a bigger bowl, though not huge some people are wanting a bigger bowl, I modded mine with ceramic disks to shrink the bowl. Knowing your work, I'm sure a mod is in the future and you can get it to suit your needs! My favorite is using the wpa with silicone over in my Sherlock made for combustion but easy for me to hold on top, light and taste the great tasting vapor the Lotus puts out!!!

I made the bowl in my WPA smaller by adding a domed screen (solo stem style) and then flattened the domed part a bit until the screen was level, but higher than the original screen (if that makes sense)...

I use 2x screens in my dry stem, as my grind is fine, and it works perfect.
Without a second screen, I get a few snacks.

I use the WPA with just one screen though, the water filters out all the rest;)

I didn't post when I got my Lotus because I was super busy these past few weeks, but now I am less busy, and wanted to post to say that I love it! I initially wanted a butane-powered vape to have for blackouts and such, but now that I have the Lotus I see for myself, as others have said, that it's very powerful and completely suitable for daily use or as an only-vape, and I've been using it often/it's taken up residence in my nightstand. I used it very successfully on the first try and then I had like two less successful sessions, and then I got the technique down. I got a stem and a j-hook, as the j-hook was recommended for beginner use because of the visible vapor, but I found it unnecessary -- I was able to figure out the technique by feel and using the visual cue of the plate turning red, and didn't find that having a clear vapor path really added anything for me. I haven't used the WPA yet, except with the j-hook, so I will have to get on that, but even with just the pipe stem I am digging it.

I first learned about this from friends who visited Amsterdam years ago - said they rolled blunts mixed with tobacco - my friends tried this often with a green game - not a lot of tobacco but a little bit helped round off the 'effects' - hard to describe I guess

A small amount of tobacco mixed with cannabis is a good combination (in my opinion). Hadn't thought about mixing the two for vaping. Thanks for the idea! I'm going to give that a try @Unisonruss

I like to mix stains of CANNABIS.
Begin a big wave surfer tobacco was always considered a cancer maker.
Cannabis is so healthy for you.
Why would you mix it with something unhealthy?
When I was In Holland at a coffee shop the bud tender brought me a plate of WHITE WIDOW.
My eye's lite up in amazement.
He asked if I wanted tobacco to mix it?
I replied:
Are you making a joke?

The mixing with tobacco comes originally from the fact that most cannabis in Western Europe for many many years was hashish.

Try to roll a neat joint with sticky Indian or Moroccan hash... Pipe smoking has never really been a thing in EU.
This just naturally transferred to weed when you got to very occasional small amout. Back in the day...

It's only (relatively) recently with the dawn of commercial indoor home grown weed being available, and many many personal grows that individuals have in their homes (judging by the qty of UK hydro shops that seem to be doing well), that we've been smoking weed pure.
I frequent a UK site about the subject and lots of people - certainly most of those who grow - smoke pure.

Vaping has become more popular over the last couple of years too. I see many people on that site making the switch from combustion (some are here already).

Anyway, back to the Lotus: love mine!! :tup:

I lived in EUROPE I know the culture.
I just found it a gross practice to mix tobacco with well grown flower?
The HASH makes sense! I never hear that reason?
I mix hash with flower! (taste better)
Have you took a piece of hash and wrapped a small piece of cotton around it and vaporized with a LOTUS?
That sounds doable!

Growing up in California and Hawaii conserving never crossed my mind?

Back to the L O T U S!

This vaporizer is like a joint however healthier!

Yes i smoked 15 years tobacco+MMJ since i met my first vape and FC guys. 10 days after, no more nicotine too.

IME Lotus+hash need bed of flower first then stir and spread but you can count on a specific screen to be used exclusevely for hash alone, just have to stir with a hard stick onto the screen, a bit clogging thing.

@ataxian I agree. I haven't mixed tobacco with cannabis for about 8 years now. Why spoil a good thing?
The Lotus is my favourite vape for hash (bubble or imported) by a long way.

I like it on a bed of flowers myself - so much nicer than cotton.

That bubbler you have with the blue fritted disk looks perfect for the lotus. Where did you pick it up?
