I spinkle a tiny amount of pressed hash on the screen. A tiny amount about 0.05 of a gram. I get only taste on the first hit then 4-5 nice hits. Stirring inbetween. I get lots of clouds more than my solo. I love the lotus. When i hit one bowl too hard i did combust but only once now i have the technique.
so much from so little. Amazing
i have to fill the bowl of my solo but not with this.

Can't wait to get it and try it out as I still combust at the end of the day sometimes. Hopefully this will curb that.

Is there a difference between the harshness of the Lotus and the harshness of combusting? Because that's what my original question was -- is there a real benefit to the Lotus that makes it worth it? I was just curious; I'm not telling anyone else to stop using theirs or anything, so there's no need for all the consternation! It's okay!

The Lotus is a vaporizer so you get all the benefits of vaporizing vs combustion if that was your question. As @vorrange pointed if you find the Lotus too harsh on your throat it definitely means that you either draw too hard and the hot vapor dries your throat very fast or driving it too hot… There is room for improvement apparently. If you wanna quit so soon you definitely are going to miss on some wonderful experiences (that most of us are having here) but it's your life of course…

Thanks! I've watched SOOO many videos and all that -- it's just too big a pain in the ass. I thought the torch thing wouldn't be a dealbreaker but it is.

There is a learning curve, but once you master it, this is a great vape. Some of the things i was doing wrong were , overfilling and scorching, improper flame length, over-heating. Getting the J-hook so that i could see when the Lotus produced vapor really helped me get my timing down, now i can use either the J-hook or the stem. I only fill it about 1/2 way now and getting the right length on the flame made all the difference.

For me, this is the best tasting vape i own. As others have said, if you could post a video of yourself using it, we could give you some pointers to perfect your technique.

And let me point out that the learning curve is different for everyone. I got this nailed down quite fast cause I had previous experiences with the MFLB, the Vaporgenie, the Thermovape T1… All manual vapes. If you only had auto vapes in the past the learning curve will sure be steeper…

You should have a look at the cheap bubbler thread in the glass forum. I usually vape dry because I like a little burn in my throat (old habits die hard), but when I run the Lotus through a bubbler I can't hardly feel the hit in my throat at all.

Maybe if you still find it too harsh, you could set in a finer aperture screen. This would change ( just a bit maybe) the airflow and if you have sensible throat, there should be less "particles".

Anyhow I agree with posts above and hope you can find a way like most of us did. It can take a bit of time even for some "experienced" vaporist, so take a breath and start again ! One thing is : if don't like to "play" with the flame, then it is maybe not for you. This beauty vape became my daily driver like no other did in the past (ok, my log did...but he's out now) !
Tasty, efficient, always ready ! That's the lotus way ! (consider your lighter is OK and loaded)

More control, faster, tastier, easier clouds for bowl after bowl (I've got some weak herbs around…), no charging needed… I love my Lotus….

I was out tonight with friends, depressed that I had shipped out my DV Ascent for replacement, and no shipping notice on my Lotus order. When suddenly, halfway through dinner, I got an email! My Lotus (with the j-hook kit) will be here Monday!!!

Two questions:
1) I haven't seen any mention of any 'burn in' procedure or pre-use steps. Is there anythign to clean/condition before I start vaping??

2) I have a few cans of Ronson Ultra Butane Fuel - doesn't say anything about filtration. I'm guessing this stuff isn't filtered enough for use with the included torch? What place more likely has triple+ filtered butane - a cigar shop, or my LHS?

Welcome to the club mate! No burn-in necessary! Maybe wash the stem with hot warm and soap...
I have gone through a couple of Ronson butane cans and worked fine. Maybe get a Colibri or Vector after you empty those.

My WPA and J Hook arrived this week. So far I'm getting the hang of it and I'm able to get tons of use with little herb.

Can anyone recommend a good glass bubbler that I could purchase off amazon or ebay, those are my only options to purchase anything at this moment. I want to get monster rips off my lotus. I look around so far didnt see anything on amazon besides ash catchers, not sure if those will work.Thanks in advance.

I use mine with an ash catcher now, they would pair up w/ your J hook, those are usually the lowest cost for a quick bub addition to your current set up, just be sure to get the right size joint to match your J hook. I like it because I can turn the AC 90* (L shape) with the J hook and get a full view of the bubbler and lotus.

I am really feeling like I am a finding perfection with the Lotus and WPA through my bubbler. Seeing the vapor develop under the WPA has helped tremendously and I am finding the optimum rate of vapor without reaching charring. In fact, I am getting some very evenly vaped bowls and they are most consistently vaped when using the spinning method mentioned in previous pages.

In spite of my confidence with the WPA, I am still having rough times with the stock stem. It cools effectively and looks discrete, but the blind hits have me burning buds or being left with unsatisfactory small hits. I am going to have to get a hook or a cheap portable bub to take camping. I am also grinding too fine for these screens and I am thinking the Jhook will cut down some of the debris/particles going in my mouth.
