starting to use the all glass stem, and getting the hang of it, I also dialed down the temp a bit so it's not running quite so hot, but still getting plenty of vapor

well, it may not be ideal, but I just successfully vaped a load out of my regular Solo 14mm gong stem (non-PVHES). It's just a bit wider than the all glass 14mm stem that came with the HI.
Just thought it was worth mentioning.
...also tested out one of the glass dry hit stems last night before bed, and really enjoyed the dry vapor, it was much smoother than I expected.

jambandphan - Glad you are liking the glass roasting tube. Sort of like a glass cigar. bOObs was able to use one of my glass roasting tubes in the Solo by turning the temp way up.
BDV - Very dark roast. Looks good enough to brew. I have actually made ABV tea with my Aeropress and it was pretty good. Glad you are enjoying the silicone sleeve. Such a nice way to roast.
I am a big fan of the pinch load method now. I don't have to stir as much using it. So much better airflow too. I think of it like picking bunches of flowers from a bush rather than putting the whole bush in the shredder. The flowers aren't disturbed as much until you hit them with the hot air.
I have heard that karma can be a bitch, but that Karma Bitch looks wicked good. Some day.

The shorty CRZ stem is actually my fav to use with the HI. It's paired with it 99% of the time.
Just turn down the voltage to around 11,3 - 11,4V and it's a match made in heaven! It gives me the thickest-densest vapor I can get, no other vape or stem I've tried so far can compete with that combo in terms of thick creamy vapor. Try it!

I have really taken to the HI quite naturally, and now I wonder what took me so long to look into log vapes
Guess the process had to take its course. So far so good. I know I tend to go through a "new love" stage with all my new vapes, hoping this one lasts a long time. I have really been enjoying the 24/7 being ready to go, all I have to do is get the load ready. I'm still running the SS tip mostly, had full on combustion with the all glass 14mm yesterday, wasn't watching close enough I guess. I'll get it though. So far most of my attempts with the glass stems for the most part have been good, maybe a little scorching on top.

Been listening to Alan and some of the tips he whispers in my ear, or notes on the forum. The pinch and roll he described to me, utilizing just the 10mm tube and silicone (pinch and roll), really works well.
This morning I decided to try his Crunchy Nug Pinch and Roll Method™. Oh my, it does work well. Its like a breath of fresh load, with every pull as you expose more surface area to the airflow, rolling/pinching the silicone between your fingers. Not only are you exposing more surface area to vape fresh, your also increasing the airflow around your load, since the exercise pushes the herb away from the walls of the silicone.
I need like 5 of these and its Party City!
Try it. Grab the 10mm tube, screen and silicone. I also like this method, because it allows you to adjust the distance between heat source and herb. Closing the gap, as the load is vaped. Just pull a little nug(s) off a bud. Small enough to drop down into the silicone onto the screen. Blast off. Yum... that first hit, off a fresh one. Nothing compares. Well, now the second hit does. Nug is a bit crunchy now, when you squeeze it, you see that fresh green popping out. Another pull... Not as intense, but still a tasty treat.
"Party on, dudes!"

sorry to all the folks waiting, I found mine in the classifieds. please don't be mad at me. I've been coming here to talk HI in hopes of getting dialog going, not to rub it in to the people waiting... this forum is here for people to discuss vaporizing correct??

Wish I didn't have to make anyone wait for a HI or TT and hopefully my situation will change soon.
If you have ever tried burning dried leaves you know how poorly it works when they are in a pile. Not a good smell either. If you have a pile of dead branches with the leaves still on, it burns very well because air can flow through it. That is sort of the analogy to using the pinch load method. It is like the old days before grinders.
jam - Glad you are still digging the HI. The 24/7 operation is probably my favorite thing about log style vaporizers. It is always there waiting for you just like a good friend. Sorry to hear of your combustion event. If you draw to slow, the herb may glow. At least the glass cleans up with some alcohol.
