The Herbalizer

I personally do not see the ' need or want ' for a wall mounted desk top unit .
For what purpose or situation is this set-up gear towards ?
Working in the garage ?
Sitting on the toilet ? idk ...
and
Will we need to have a wall mount in every room we vape in ?
and
Are we trying to one-up NASA engineers ?
and
I'm just wondering out loud ... ( back to Sunday vaping )

This is a medical device, right? That's how it's being marketed? Well in a medical setting when a patient is bedridden and space is limited, the option to mount a vaporizer would be well appreciated. Just because it doesn't fit into your personal situation doesn't mean that it doesn't fit into anyone's situation.

Here's a real life example: A friend of mine has a VXC. He spends the vast majority of his time either in the bathroom or in bed. His bedside table is filled with snacks, meds, books, and everything needed to get him through each day. There is, however, not enough room for a vaporizer and bong to safely and securely sit on the table. So, he mounted the Cloud to the wall next to his headboard and using a whip attached to an 18mm female joint he is able to lie in bed and sip on vapor. I had ideally envisioned the same sort of setup with the Herbalizer.

The lack of mounting capability won't deter me from purchasing the Herbalizer, though it will deter my friend. I just feel that mounting would be a nice option to have to help the Herbalizer fit more seamlessly into some patient's lives. And if you don't have the need to use that option, then feel free to not use it. That's why it's called an option.

That is the perfect scenario where a wall mount or
a shelf would help . Wall mount would be more secure .

I'm impressed your friend has the Cloud mounted for use .
I think the option is more of a DIY option tho .
By that , I mean the Herbie team won't have time to add that
for the first launch . Maybe for Herbie V2 .

You're correct , it's advertised as a medical device .
And some patients are bed ridden .
Thank you for reminding me .

The Herbalizer is very light in weight.
During the testing, I kept it in a nightstand drawer for about a week.
I used it directly from the drawer, and moved it onto my lap once in a while.
(this was not my norm... I used it mostly one of my vape area tables, but I was laid up for a short time.)

You're right, the mounted Cloud is definitely a DIY setup. But the fact is that the Cloud allowed for such a setup while the Herbalizer's accelerometer may make such a setup impossible.

IIRC I haven't really seen a reason for Herbie's auto-shutoff in this thread. Is it just to prevent uneven heating and wasted vapor? Or is there a safety reason? I don't exactly see why it'd be unsafe if it stayed on while tilted or fallen if that is the reason. I guess with my current knowledge about this vape I just see mounting capability as a more beneficial option than the accelerometer, but that could obviously change once I get to know Herbie a bit better.

It is an accelerometer, so as long as there is not sudden movements it should run. I had held mine up at a weird angle and had it running when I was testing it. I did not try it... just wanted to see if the fan ran. I don't know if the final version will do that or not...

I don't get how you would keep the lid open though if it was kept on the wall?

If i remember correctly, it was mainly a safety future. It wouldn't look good if some how under some extreme crazy circumstances a herbalizer fell over and remained on, and somehow started a fire. i think this is one of those better to be safe than sorry type of situation, however unlikely the problem may be.

Josh's Dad stated awhile back that the lid can be removed.

the lid can be removed and the Herbalizer operated without it. Also, the plan for the future is to offer lids of different colors. With the lid removed it's only necessary to select vaportherapy or aromatherapy.

Lid could stay open with a spring-tensioned hinge, or a small prop stick like on the hood of a small car.

I think some people here are going to have a very Merry Holiday and/or end of the year.
:)

Software is done as of tonight and looks like units will be made next week.

(knock on wood!)

EDIT: Oh, also Josh showed me a live thermal test. I'm kicking myself I didn't film the output to show you guys, but it is as spot on as we thought. This is looking bloody awesome.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Nice to hear

I was just saying to myself this morning..... "damn, this thread got quiet again at a time was hoping/speculating an 'ITS HERE ITS HERE' announcement  However, this 2nd hand tidbit should hold me over for a 'little' longer from around the corner seat

So I don't want to speak out of turn here, but it does look like manufacturing is indeed starting (touch wood). I did *NOT* ask about quantities (I didn't feel that was any of my business), but I think they might be limited batches at first. I guess this is what we have seen with other vapes, and is expected, but I don't want to leave the impression that as of "1-minute past midnight" on a day, the entire world's supply of Herbalizers will be available. I think each batch will go out as fast as it can, but not everyone can be a member of the first batch. I have no idea how many people have signed up, but I do know (from Sheila) that FC'ers are first priority!

SIDENOTE: Oh, and when Josh called me into his (okay, bob's) office to show me the final calibrated software heat test, he had a giddiness of a proud new pappa. I whole-heartedly approve. This is exactly the level of enthusiasm and pride that it is grand to see an engineer (or anyone!) exhibit.

It is infectious. I am excite.

much excite. so amaze. wow.

It's tempting but I'm going to pass on this vaporizer for now.

This looks like a great xmas present for the lucky early adopters though!

what's different about this version as opposed to the standard one that will retail later? this one is being referred to as a "Limited Release Herbie" is there any difference?

Almost there...
Also got my email from them!!
Not sure if i will have the funds to pull the trigger on this one...
Maybe live on the wild side and use my credit card!

EDIT: This vape can only be used with the fan on, correct?
I am not sure if this feature makes it a good option or not.
Seems wasteful to be blowing vapor out when your lungs are full and you cannot inhale anymore.
Any thoughts on this?
