Thanks @FlavorChaser for liking this post. I'd been looking for it for a long time. I wanted to report back that this mod is still working like the day I made it. It kicks the shit out of the regular herbie bag experience. The Volcano Solid Valve and the Bags that come with it are far superior to Herbalizer. The bags are much more durable and are easily replaceable.
The cause of your issues with your bags failing is the design of the Herbalizer squeeze valve. There's a very short distance from the port of the bowl piece and the plastic bag. This causes the plastic to become brittle with use at high temps and worse yet all the stresses from the bag get focused there when it's inflated to its max. Since you're running at 445 you're going to be putting that small film of plastic through the worst case scenario. S&B avoided this issue by moving the plastic film away from the air path and also used a greater amount of material to spread stresses.
I believe if you ordered the following you would be all good to use the solid valve.

NOTE:You will have to hold the Solid Valve down to fill.
I modified my Herbalizer squeeze valve quite heavily to make it work. See the posts below for details.

Was cleaning out a closet and found my old Vertigo hydratube from the OG Cloud ticker. With the 2.0 waterpipe adapter fits the Herbie perfectly.
Still trying to figure out the best way to vape oil/shatter in this thing. Messing with the oil pad dealie. Scared of oil dripping down and damaging something though.
................................................................................................I have some de-gummed hemp fiber that I might use to make a bowl sized concentrate sandwich to see what concentrate alone would do.
I'm a little leery of using the metal pucks/pads with the concentrate.

I often use "redundant protection" on my vapes (filtering screen + hemp filter).
You could also try a hemp filter at the bottom of the bowl with metal pad on top of that--conc placed on the pad.
Then, if any liquid managed to leak thru the metal pad, the hemp is there to catch it.
Last night I filled "half" the bowl with a medium grind, lightly tamped down and then put two small (bb-sized) flattened pieces of concentrate on top of it and then filled the rest of the bowl. Figured the herb would absorb any liquid dripping down or being pushed upwards by the fan when using the bag. Filled a few bags at 410F and then finished it off with a couple more bags at max 445F. There was no liquid dripping and the taste hung in there even at 445F. I expected that as the session/bowl reached the end of its useful life that the concentrate taste would turn nasty as usual but it didn't. I figured it would work because the Herbie dries out the herb like crazy when vaping so any liquid could be absorbed by the dried out herb.

@FlavorChaser Welcome to FC!. The Herbie is sure to make an impact. We are all interested to read of your introduction........won't be long now.
Welcome. Thanks @mephisto for the welcome. I have about 28 more pages to get to the end of this thread. I've been reading as much as I can about the Herbie so that once my T-break is over I can jump in head first. Don't want to ask a bunch of questions that could easily be answered simply by reading. The countdown to lift off is on.....

Tried both with some herb and with hemp fiber. Both work excellent, but I especially like with the fiber. One of the tastiest pure oil hits I've had. Ran the fan at full temp thru the hemp fiber for about 90 seconds before putting the shatter on it, knocked out traces of dust and improved taste. And now I got a use for all the fiber i've had around for years.
Nope. Stayed the same level of smooth throughout. Most successful low temp oil vaping I've ever done. One of the things I dislike about some concentrates is how nasty and harsh the hits get when the concentrate is at the end of it's useful life/session. I didn't experience any harshness when I made the herb/concentrate sandwich. Did you experience anything like that?

The vapour path in an Herbalizer is all stainless until it reaches the top of the herb chamber which is high temperature plastic. I think you're confusing the air path (which starts at the bottom and leads to the blub), with the vapour path (which starts at the bottom of the herb chamber goes to the whip or bag).Examining the materials used and the vapor path there is no way I would ever use it again.
Did you attempt to contact Herbalizer about your unit not functioning? My Herbalizer was out of warranty and had a huge problem with it that they fixed for free. I honestly was surprised that they were willing to take care of me in such a way.My Chong’s Choice Herbalizer started giving me an error message after about an hour of usage. It got put aside for about a year and yesterday I decided to take it apart and see if I could find the issue.
I don't know what you were expecting? This is likely one of the most over engineered vapes there is. It has several probes and sensors, fans, a full micro controller, and an over powered halogen bulb to make it work. It's what you get when a pair of NASA satellite engineers wants to make a vape. The result should be very precise control of air temperatures across the entire spectrum, +- 3*C or 5*F regardless of airflow, which is still unmatched in the vaping world. But what a complicated over engineered vape this this is.
Yeah it’s a bummer. I fished it out of the trash in case anyone asks me to point out some areas of concern. It’s just not one of my better vape purchasing decisions.
