The Herbalizer

Herbalizer gurus please help, I just got my Herbalizer yesterday and of course am unhappy with the stock bags. I've been looking over this thread for awhile (after buying my firefly a few months ago and deciding I wanted a desktop unit). I see a lot of people having great success with the Solid valve from the volcano but having issues with the Herbie melting when using the "filling chamber" or something (I honestly can't remember exactly but I'm sure you're aware of what I'm referencing). My question is can the Easy valve bags be used to? And slipped over the Herbie bowl? I don't mind holding it in place at all. I just want a reliably sealed bag that lasts longer than I've read that the included Herbalizer balloons do. Thanks in advance for any replies to my questions.

You want the Volcano Solid Valve. You can use it over the Herbalizer bowl. Only downside is you need to hold it down while the bag is filling.

Do NOT use the Solid Valve bowl. The way the heat will travel will basically warp the plastic around the heating chamber.

Okay, that's what I thought. Thanks!

I have the solid valve and it works just fine with the Herbalizer. The trick is to put the yellow ring in the groove of the Herbalizer where you put the bowl. You put the solid valve on top and it is heavy enough to keep it sealed while filling and it does not warp the plastic piece of the herbalizer. I have had great success this way.

Anyone have any experience with these bags? I know a lot of people are still using the solid valve from a Volcano since Herbalizer bags are so expensive. They're like printer ink, except the printer wasn't cheap.

I am not sure which bags you are referring to but I used the Herbalizer green mouthpiece with Volcano bags and a special adapter from Mike (Oregon Glass) and that is by far my favorite setup. IMHO it is better than the stock balloons and as good as the Volcano solid valve system except it is easy for me to use a water adapter with the Herbalizer mouthpiece if I want. Check out my detailed post of adapters I use at http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-herbalizer.9116/page-252#post-811540

The Herbalizer bags are not too difficult to replace with Volcano bags. I made an extra large bag for party mode. With a very full Herbalizer bowl and two complete fan cycles with a clean screen I can fill the bag. I usually tap the bowl once after the first fan cycle to help distribute the air across the herb better for more extraction.

On a different note. Although I am sure most on here are happy with there Herby Im calling for any members outside of "Herby Territory" (Europe etc) that DON`T have a Herby to start ringing, emailing, contacting The Herbalizer company as much as possible to start pushing them to develop a Worldwide model. This is going on for far to long and it must be around twelve months ago we first heard mention of a different voltage/freq model. Why the hell should you guys n girls in the US of A etc, have all the good stuff!!??

For a company to go ahead it has to diversify, something I thought this company was going to do when they had a "restructure" a while back, Come on Herbalizer start spreading the joy!!

How often are you guys deep cleaning your Herbie bowl? My Herbie bowl isn't super gunked up and I've been swapping out my screens often enough, but it seems like my denser clouding has decreased lately and gone back to what I'm used to (plenty of visible vapor but not milking the bubblers).

I will probably give it a quick ISO wash this morning after my shift ends and see how it performs.

Can someone point to an online place (Ebay?) where I can get those little brushes for cleaning the bowels? I bought some awhile ago that were disposable paint brushes that were very similar but a bit bigger but cheaper because the little bristles kept falling out.

Thanks. I actually have that brush but never use it but will give it a try for a week to see if I like it. I remember it being just a bit too thick. I like the one that came with the herbalizer.

I never liked the one that Herbie came with.
It deformed too easily and just looked crazy after a few uses.

Never tried a MFLB brush but heard good things about them!

Been hitting Herbie with my Hydra Tube the last few nights!
Very nice and smooth with a serious kick!
One of the original Herbie's, still rocking like a champ!

I like the little brush from the MFLB very much, high quality and nice size!

Thanks!! I just ordered four. It was $8.82 total which seems like a pretty good price. I am excited to try this one out. I am still using my original brush from over a year ago and it is getting gunky. You can make a brush last a long time if you always brush a certain way with the bristles and never never never jam the brush in and just scrape around.

I haven't posted in a while, but I see several people asking about the cleaning brush. I picked up a pack of 4 in the plumbing department at Home Depot. They are used for applying flux to copper plumbing before soldering. The flux brush is a little larger then the stock herbie brush, but they are very cheep and available at any hardware store with a plumbing department.

I bought some similar brushes off ebay but the bristles fall out really easily. Is that the same with the Home Depot brush?

So far that Magic Flight brush is working out really well. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. I bought four just in case.

I've been using the same brush from that 4 pack for close to a year now. A few bristles fell out in the first few weeks, but since its been fine. Granted these are cheep mass produced brushes that are meant for short term use and disposal, so I would expect a fair amount of quality variation.

I did make one small change to the brush. I trimed the bristles to about 2/3rd of the stock length. That gave me a brush I could push a little more firmly without as much bending of the bristles.

You can clean the brushes with straight 91% ISO alcohol. This extends the life of the brush a lot.

Hey Herbie owners,
Do you guys preheat your bowl before packing? (I try to give it a 10 second warmup with the fan)
How much do you fill the bowl? (I fill 1/3-/1/2 using coarse grind)
Do you fan assist with all your hits? Or do you like drawing yourselves? (My first draw is done without fan assist, but the rest are with the fan)
For the first 3 months, I had great success with both bag and whip. I used more whip because I liked to milk my bubbler. These days, I only use Bags (whip performance has dramatically decreased). I emailed them and they were nice enough to say that they would take a look. Anyone else experience this? My screens are clean.

I use The herbie daily with the stock whip(remove mouth piece). After each session I blow air through the whip and wipe off the excess oil from the bottom side of the whip. It is easiest to do this right after a session because the whip gets pretty hot. This has kept it fairly clean, although I will be doing a deep clean soon. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about putting full nugs in the bowl. I have found success with this! I like 385-395 after a few good pulls, break up the toasted nugs and finish off the bowl.

Have you actually changed out your screens for brand new ones?
I kept cleaning my original ones and thought they looked good and clean but the performance was not good, so Herbie got shelved for a while.
I also started to only use the bags because they worked all the time.

I changed out the screens for brand new ones and Herbie is awesome again!
Whip works awesome again and almost instantly milks up my WT's.

I never preheat the bowl...
