Your gif making skils are as good as mine... oh wait.

JK thanks for linking my gif, didnt realize I should post here the second I make it, heh :\. If you want a tut on how to make them its not very hard. Send me a PM if you have Adobe CS.

I just re-watched both videos and the GIF clip above does not properly reflect what actually happens.

Just to be clear, when I said that I was not commenting on your intent in making the GIF, I was referring to the interpretation @lwien was giving it. I didn't phrase it properly.

As for the vapour production, I think you'll find the GH people backing away from that desktop performance claim. ;)

Sorry @pakalolo I was being poking at :whip: @grokit for posting my gif before I had a chance.
If anyone wants a quick how-to in Adobe CS I can show them, pm me.

I'm hoping it's just the lack of money on-hand that's preventing them from getting more units made and sent out. I'd be incredibly surprised if 5 units set them back more than a day on shipping.

ZP states that they had just finished with their prototype/proof-of-concept units. Someone quoted the price in the thousands of dollars

That all being said, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt right now.

Great post, just a little seeming contradiction here between a day of shipping and thousands of dollars ;)

If they sent 5 units out for independent reviews, they would have to halt the production line to retool at huge expense. So it makes the most sense that these expensive initial prototype units would be all a little bit different, in order to help work out the variables between them. And it makes complete sense to keep these variables a trade secret, as these are the details that will potentially make or break this project.

And because these prototypes are all a little bit different in this scenario, independent reviews would be counter-productive to say the least, because they would not agree with each other. I have chosen (with my wallet) to give them the benefit of the doubt by backing the choices they have made, and will hope for the best. That's pretty much how all crowd-sourcing campaigns work if I'm not mistaken.

I understand the benefit of having a 3rd party reviewer involved, but there's a downside to that as well. Security concerns aside, it could cause way to many delays to send these "final prototypes" out and evaluate whether to make changes based on perhaps contradicting feedback, and then actually implementing these changes. And even if it were somehow feasible to somehow do all of this within the projected timeline, it would add way too much cost to retool after the production line starts rolling anyways.

So by backing this campaign, we are placing bets on the success of this project. I understand the concerns presented, and for those concerned don't place the bet; just wait until the retail version is released.

Just my :2c:

Why would sending out 5 prototypes cause them to "halt the production line and retool at huge expense"? If they are prototypes, that doesn't mean they've started full production yet. If they sent them out and discovered problems, but they HAD started mass production, then I sure hope they WOULD halt and not just crank out more units with a problematic design. I do get that they want to protect their IP, but there must be some way for them to show working units in a way to reassure skeptics.

Sorry, just not understanding the reasoning here.

I think you may have missed the part about the prototypes being all different.

Once the line starts rolling, they are not prototypes anymore because the tooling has finished. At that point they are early-offs (for lack of a better term), and the production facility (usually rented) would have to shut down that part of the operation while waiting for feedback on them. These facilities (rented or not) cannot just easily change from one product to the next. To stop the line and wait for feedback would be a huge expense even without retooling, as a factory that's not churning out product is losing money big-time.

Come on, man. The guy was legitimately offering help to people and he needs to "get over himself"? He even said, "just kidding". I understand how the slanted smiley can insinuate a condescending tone, but then he clarified his position in his next post to Pak.

You're welcome, I don't even charge for publicizing your groundbreaking work making gifs out of youtubes. Try not to be so fucking condescending next time.

Again, he said he was just poking some fun at you. I really don't think he was trying to be condescending at all. He legitimately offered help in his last post to anyone else in the forum who doesn't know how to make GIF's. Believe it or not, the average computer user doesn't know how to make GIF's, take screen captures, etc, and many are too lazy or intimidated to seek through a Google search. The guy was just offering some help. That's just my :2c: but I'm no mind reader, nor am I a mod. I just hate to see someone who is offering help to others get shot down so quickly.

I may have taken it the wrong way, but after it was posted for a second time that he was available for people like me that can't figure it out it seemed condescending. Perhaps it was sincere and if so I apologize.

OT but it's pretty easy to make gifs out of youtubes, all you need is a web browser: http://www.yt2gif.com/

@grokit wow buddy I dont even... I welcome you to produce your own OC and your own content. As for your language might be time for you to read the forum rules. Good if its easy, please do it and don't be so snark in your replies.

So now it's your OC, talk about just wow... maybe you should add a watermark, so you get full credit for your original creation. If you need instruction on that, pm me because this couldn't be more off-content.

And what's the matter with my fucking language ;)?

I'm just reminding everyone that we are supposed to respect and be nice to each other, and that's a rule. I have to review this to decide what else to do, but for now, no more posts about the GIF or each other. Talk about the Grasshopper or send PMs.

I don't know if this was mentioned but I haven't seen any reference. How will Grasshopper repairs be handled?

I know that VXL learned a lot about making units repair friendly from their first generation model. How modular will the heater design be?

Here is pakalolo's first rule of posting in online forums:

Never post when you are pissed off.

Write the response, by all means, in fact I encourage that—but do not post it! Instead, revise it to say exactly the same thing but in a nice calm manner. If you can't, you should be thankful you didn't post it and delete it. If you can, then you should decide if you still want to post it. Lots of times you'll say to hell with it and delete it anyway.

I wrote that because this is the second time today I've had to step in where normally good members start sniping at one another. When you think you've been insulted, make a report and let the moderators handle it. Responding means you put yourself in danger of breaking the rules and increases the chance of a flame war. This advice applies to anyone else who thinks offense has been given. Attempts to moderate someone can easily do more harm than good. Any time you find yourself writing about another member's posting style you are are on thin ice.

This time you all get a free pass in exchange for this little lecture. Please let's not have a next time. :chill:

TOTALLY understand why you posted that Paka, but man, sometimes that's sooo hard to do. When someone slaps ya in the face, you wanna either slap 'em back or at the least, defend yourself. The last thing you want to do is to run to mama or papa and complain about it. It's that whole "tattle tale" thing. But, in a forum such as this, I do understand that things can easily spin out of control but if I ever complain to you about someone, I wanna see a public hanging with red fonts the size of grapefruits............ ;)

Good suggestion about the red font, I'll be right back...

Whaddaya mean by sketchy?
;)

They know what consumers want & they clearly put thought behind this video. Cloud shot against a black background. Showing the changed state of herb from fresh to abv.

Next, they clearly do choppy editing throughout. Slowed frame at the first hand shot to lengthen time for the narrative, a quick cut when they're first loading. The piece of paper they toss the abv on to was not on the table but comes from an angle where we should have seen it.

Then there's the weirdness of the mouth movement both before and after the hit.

We can assume from the cuts that this isn't an entire shot, but is made to look like one. Why, then, would they not edit the part where he swears? It's the weirdest thing about the video in that the entire time they try to seem professional. They already edit audio. I'm largely convinced that they're just laying the narrative track over footage in post, judging by the timing of the narrative and a few hand gestures that don't sync well. Why not edit his little post hit exclamation with the brown noise of the background?

The mouth movement might be his reaction to a head rush, but IME, and I've introduced many people to vapor, vapor hits take time to settle on you. I find the mouth movement particularly odd right before he takes the hit. His mouth is angled behind the hoodie, & it's just his mouth. Without moving his head, his mouth pokes out from the hoodie to take the hit. It's as if, before he takes the hit, his mouth is sideways.

I know we've already covered the whole, "maybe he's taking a hit of something else and blowing that out," theory. But considering that this video has been edited, that the team is in possession of an Arizer V-Tower, and especially considering the mouth movement and the addition of the paper out of camera from the left, I think we've made that theory stronger.

That's not to say I'm not gunning for this device. A literal pen vape made by aerospace engineers that I can walk around with to hit both herb and eo with the switch of the tip? Awesome. But the video seems very misleading.

I just dont understand why they wont shoot a normal video with a normal angle..they already showed their faces in all the other videos. Takes about 20 min at max to film and upload just a QUICK high temp demo. That would sell me and many others on this forum it seems.

Could use face masks, voice masks. Things that are a lot simpler and a lot less lazy.

It's seeming a lot like StealthVape at this point. Remember, Stealthvape had an actual unit that seemed to be running, professional packaging for that unit, and showcased a bunch more units, which, now that I think on it, looked a lot like empty lipstick shells.

I'm going to wait til this goes to market, but if we don't hear from @Zenpen after the release date, you guys can definitely file for chargebacks.

In this video, the paper is clearly visible at the 0:35 mark and doesn't seem to move from there.

Now I might have an answer for this one. Depending on the kind of "mint" he used, the terpene profile could have been really strong. I know I've hit strains that leave a super citrusy taste in my mouth. I like to savor that taste... perhaps that's what he was doing?

It's the Zapruder of vape videos....!

But in the Zapruder we actually got a good shot of the head.

........ I'm going to hell for my little pun.

In this video, the paper is clearly visible at the 0:35 mark and doesn't seem to move from there.

The video you posted is the second use vid, which does correct a good deal of the problems with the first. Here they actually use a timer against the usage, which is encouraging.

But the first video remains to be clearly edited. The paper is nowhere in sight, which gives precedence to both them editing the footage in different sequence than what is presented, but also that things can be given to the actor off camera.

I agree that maybe it's the terpene profile, but he makes a similar movement before taking the hit. This might just be a natural reflex, as well.

The thing that still bothers me is that they know what we're looking for (contrast the vapor with black, show abv, use of a timer) but they keep holding out on the one crucial factor: a direct shot of vape to lips.

A close up shot of just the bottom half of the face would be better suited to their need of anonymity. The shot they chose is just too transparently shady.

@Atomsk after watching the first use video a few times, you're right in saying that the paper isn't there at the beginning of the video, but it looks to me as though someone else actually put the paper on the table and pushed it towards him. If you look closely, the paper is introduced and then moves towards the user before he touches it. The paper is pretty close to the edge of the table I'd say so it could have been the camera man, especially since the camera stops moving some seconds before the GH stops being used.
