I think I'm gonna stick this one out to the end. I'm still hopeful, and the money I used was just my yearly bonus, so it's not money I was planning for, so I can deal with letting it go.

I don't want to encourage anyone to cancel their orders. But I just wanted to relay that GH was very quick to answer my email and issue the refund for my pre-order, within 36 hours. Props to them. That alone will probably make me buy one whenever they retail and have been reviewed by users.

Yeah. Despite my dislike of their vague vagueness, I feel like they're doing okay, all things considered. I can't blame them for things taking longer than they'd expect, things take longer than I expect constantly and I couldn't even begin to plan out something as complicated as a device and business built around it. I just hope we're close to units shipping, I really want to see if they're worth the wait so I can either begin more happy waiting, or disinterested disappointment.

If Paypal gave GH Labs the boot, then I REALLY hope that they weren't keeping any funds in their Paypal account...

Maybe you're joking but there's no way paypal can just steal your money just because they're terminating your service. Right?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you've never run a business through Paypal.

First, the account gets flagged due to complaints or TOS violation. All money in the account is frozen for up to 180 days, which puts a stranglehold on the business. Then customer refund requests come flooding in to PP, and refunds are processed, until the frozen account balance is zero. After that, everyone is hosed.

Sadly, I've seen this exact thing too many times.

The last time I used my Paypal account before buying a GH was to sell something on Ebay about 4 years ago. When I received the payment, a few hundred dollars, I withdrew it by requesting a check. A few days later I got an email from them saying my account was frozen from more withdrawals for 180 days. They penalized me for wanting my money, after paying their fees. They do everything they can to make it difficult to access your own money outside of their control. Your money is earning them interest, and they will do everything they can to keep it.

Same situation with me, emailed request to cancel preorder, Trevor emailed and refunded next day. This was last month. Going to order after the shit shakes out

If anyone places an order, can they verify that the payment system is working or not? I feel a little odd having this potentially tinfoil-hat Paypal issue hanging on...:tinfoil:

Perhaps the PayPal thing is related to country of origin, as the person ordering isn't in the US, and PayPal can be rather arbitrary at times. That or some computer hiccup.

If GH were suspended I'd assume that the folks there would be on it quickly, and find an alternative asap.

I ordered mine from the UK two days ago and no problem with PayPal then. Also wanted to add an extra battery and case to my order so emailed Trevor and he got back to me this morning to tell me to order and it would be included in my original order when that's sent. I'm going to make the new order in a couple of hours. I'll report back after that.

EDIT : just made e new order for battery and case. No problem with PayPal.

One person reports issues with ordering and we get 2 pages of "Paypal account must be locked!". Seriously I know we're expecting the worst here..... But one report doesn't indicate a problem.





One more day left to start shipping those grasshoppers in "May" :rolleyes:

really? When I added to my order he just sent a paypal invoice to me and just added it on

When I estimate a project's time to my (OCD) boss, I always estimate it will take 4x longer than I really think. You know what? Now he knows me as the guy who finishes his work in HALF the time I tell him. Which is funny because that still means it took twice as long as I expected it to take. (True he's learned to cut my estimates in half, but he still budgets for the full time).
That's why you're known as the Miracle Worker...

I rarely post but I just want to say this. I know these guys personally so my take is a little different. I get the frustration, it's been a long ride. But to paint a picture that Trevor and Matt are slacking off, that they're a couple of jokers who are taking their sweet time at your expense, it's just absurd.

These guys work literally all day, every day, seven days a week on an extremely complex and advanced product, taking no salary, saving no money. They have invested years of their lives into making the Grasshopper and are working their asses off to get it made, every day. So please just give the whining a rest and realize the extreme difficulty they face in bringing this product to market. I guarantee you could not do it any faster.

No, that sounds right. As long as you were logged in and can see the two orders together when you check the order status then I was told they'd be shipped together.

Yeah he told me to order separate and that they would be all be shipped together when I added two color titaniums to my ss order. They have two order numbers but he said it will go with the first order number (in fact shipping estimate on both was April, even tho at the time I added the colored units current pre orders said May, so adding another order will link with your earlier order regardless)

I'm hoping that's a REALLY good sign that they're too busy to respond to pointless "when will my GH ship" emails.

Where's our spy on the outside? Any activity going on at GH labs this weekend? lol

Hmmmm... All this talk about combining new items with original orders is making me think. Anybody here an IGG backer or have a preorder that is from Vancouver (Canada) dated way before March of this year?

If so, want to add a SS Hopper with an extra battery to your order and I'll cancel my Mid March order in an attempt to get mine to me faster? I'll pay the duty on the whole order as a thank you... :)

Yup, at some point this'll be a easily graphed crowdfunding metric, the rise of hope/worry leading to an update, the momentary high of "hey they just told us something!", the disippating wave of let-down after...
