If that's how it works, I'd be happy with it for what it is. I don't think its a purchase I'm going to make but hopefully my friend that has invested will be pleased. Can't wait to try it. Exciting vape times :-)

Yeah, the battery life issue is a little confusing. On the frequently asked questions section of their website they state that a full charge will get you through 3 to 4 chambers of herb. I guess we won't know for sure until the device is in the hands of FC members.

That'd work fine for me.

That's how many chambers I get with my Crafty. I'd be content with that especially since it has a lower price and a removable battery.

Oh jesus you think the actual time of vaporizing is 4 minutes?! It is becoming apparent people are thinking this is not really a session unit. I'd love to know how this compares to the firefly if so. I guess only time will tell just how good or bad the battery life is.

Lots of variables in play that could effect total time by a factor of two or more? Different power levels, battery capacities, insulation, temperature and so on. Something between 4 and 10 minutes I'm estimating, far short of the 320 plus advertised earlier on.

I think the EV has a couple of time advantages, bigger battery, better 'aspect ratio' of the load (EV is wider and more shallow with less 'sidewall area') amongst them. But given the power usage by similar convection vapes like EV and the TV products 20 to 30 Watts are par.

I agree, this means it's bound to be a 'take a quick hit or two' deal, not a session/sharing vape. A personal vape if you will?

It's also worth noting that stirring is a known issue with these sorts of guys. EV needs it between hits IMO, as did T1. Evolution and Cera attacked this (non uniform vaping of herb in the load) by insulating the entire load and allowing heat to build over half a minute or so to include the entire load rather than that along the weakest channels through the load. If you're not careful such small loads heated by forced convection they tend to 'burn' a flue of shorts up through the load at the weakest point. There after, the herb along that path 'shrinks back' so more of the flow of hot air goes up past the depleted herb and misses the good stuff in the corners. This means part of the load overcooks while the stuff along the walls, which cools off easily, gets missed unless you stir. VB2 uses a clever stir wire and knob to combat this, EV already has an aftermarket 'stir cap mod' available. I think given the smaller diameter, longer load this could end up being a big problem with GH, hopefully identified and corrected?

Same as this here EV, I think GH has a place in the market if it delivers. The market wants a small, reliable, herb vape. I just don't think it's going to end up being the 'game changer' WRT performance advertised. As we've said before, there's a lot of very smart people working on this project. I'm not expecting a $5000, 75 MPG, five passenger sedan that does 10.2 Quarters.....nice as that might be.

Don't get me wrong, if this train leaves the station eventually and gets there on time I'm buying a ticket......

I really don't think they need to make their updates right on the dot. They're busy people, I think they might have other maybe more important (production?) things going on? I can forgive them being late on an update. Have faith. :worms:

it's not about being busy, they have all day to type up their update and post it by midnight. Their updates usually consist of about a mInute or two of actual physical typing, so for them to wait for the last second to type it up Is pretty lame.

New update:

Hey Everyone,

We’re back with the February 15th Update. After receiving the charger parts that we were waiting on during last update, we got to work testing and ensuring smooth operation. Now that almost everything has been tested and verified, we are coordinating the increase in production volume. We also shot a new usage video which shows the Grasshopper in action.

The new charger parts brought both good and bad news. After completing the assembly using the new parts, the Charger did not work. Current was not flowing and the problem was traced to the PCB.The Charger PCB creates an isolation circuit for safety and also regulates the charging of the battery. Unfortunately, the isolation circuit was not allowing power to be transferred to the battery. Investigating further, we discovered a mistake by the PCB fabricator in component placement.

By bypassing the isolation circuit we were still able to test the capabilities of the charger and everything worked as expected. Once the fabricator's mistake is fixed, everything will be complete. We already have them working on it and expect the corrected version in soon.

Last week we released a new video of the Grasshopper. We invited two people to come to the lab and try it out. This proved to be an excellent time to get some feedback and also shoot a little video showing it in use. Overall they loved the device, citing how quick and easy it was to use, as well as how dense the vapor production was. We’ve included both the original cut and a new extended cut.

The Grasshopper will likely start to trickle ship before the end of the month. We have the limited first run of production parts and are planning to get them out to some of you very soon. More parts have entered production, but the Chinese New Year is upon us which means that manufacturing is slow for the next 20 days. We expect to ramp up shipping progressively once the New Year is over. Expect an email verifying your shipping address before a Grasshopper is shipped to you.

Look for another update on the first!

The Grasshopper Team

Looks like units will begin shipping by the end of the month!!!

Ugh. How many more delays are we gonna have to experience? I feel like I'm just being strung along.

After looking at the video again it seems that they are not inhaling and holding in their hits, especially the girl on the right. Looks like she's just bringing the vapor into her mouth, not her lungs and then exhaling which makes her coughing seem kind of out of place. Did you guys get the same sense of what's going on here or is it just my skeptic mind playing tricks on me?

If I'm correct, than this is an exaggerated attempt to show more cloud production than what we can really expect in "real world" situations.

What's lame is the incessant and pointless whining.

I think I'll just passive/aggressively let this one slide. :goon:

@lwien : stop stirring the shit mate! You are making the backers nervous and at this point the wait shouldn't be too long and we'll be all fixed pretty soon. :)

Ok KZ. Didn't mean to add to anyone's anxiety about this. It was just a comment on the video. It just seemed very odd to me, but I'll refrain from making anymore comments.

The ABV shot seems to be good enough to validate @OF prediction of the uneven cooking. On both loads it seems like the herb that was closer to the heater looks quite a bit darker... bummer. There goes the stealth if you have to crack it open and stir it. But it also shows that it's mostly convection and also not smoke. I wonder if underloading it would allow the herb to stir itself during the draw. Either way I still want mine to come really badly.

I'm not saying it's not true...seems like a petty excuse
Are you serious? This is a common thing among all Chinese manufacturers during their holidays, they shut down. It's not an excuse, it's the reality that you have to deal with.

Also about two weeks before holiday and two weeks after holiday, most will be at 50% production or less. This is because of people preparing for holiday and going back to their hometowns.
