This was the paint I was complaining about...maybe I should use and let it go, but that note from the rep. got me thinking.

Wait, you received the unit looking like that? (What exactly are we looking at? Is there a large area of grey paint missing on the left? Hard to tell, it looks a lot like glare...)

I would think, warranty or not, they'd happily replace any unit that shipped like that. If what I'm looking at is as bad as I think it is, which I still can't tell....

I think it's worse in person cause you can feel the defects and the ding that you can't see good. I asked about the different batts and you can see what I got back. The unit works well, battery works well love the vapp, just hate the paint job, on this one.

I found a great cleaning brush. My grand daughter came out of the office playing with it and I said, yes, I know exactly what that will be good for.

@mckeen i can't see anything but the little dot but if raised up as a result, feeling it in my hand probably would rub me the wrong way. This is one if those situations in customer service where an imaginary line is crossed and all of a sudden Sarah realizes it is out of her pay grade, OR they bring in different staff after new units ship. I don't know, I don't know that I would take the tone of the email negatively, it's just not Sarah anymore haha.

It's natural for us early adopters that have had success with it to be defensive, I think a all any of us have ever said was to kind of, get the baby batter off the brain, think about what you're doing and why this device works the way it does and adjust your technique,

I've been keeping an eye on this one. I'm a little concerned with the gasket problem on the herb lid. I see some of you have been able to troubleshoot for yourselves fixing the problem. I don't know if all of us are talented enough to that for ourselves.

There has been a few battery problems but there doesn't seem to be too many so far. Also, how much life do you get out of the battery as far as longevity? Does it say in the instructions(like 100 hrs) after so much time it wouldn't be any good.

The battery is great imo. I can get over three bowls per charge. I have no idea on the rated life in hours but I can tell you the people that designed the Firefly cared a lot about the battery too. I am willing to bet it is of the highest quality. You can see how much the designer of the Firefly cared in its design and there is no reason that care would stop at the battery.

Gotta disagree here. I barely get two bowls out of my battery then 1/2 hour+ to charge it up. Even three bowls seems inadequate. I'd like to see it getting 4 or 5 consistently in order to make it worth carrying around while out and about.

Perhaps something is wrong with my battery?

edit: and it isn't an ambient temperature issue as mentioned above. I live in the SF Bay area where "sub-zero" is more likely to be a hacker's handle than ever a weather condition.
Plus I have tons of other battery operated devices that aren't affected by the "cold".

I am getting two more batteries sent to me, so I will see if I get different results with different batteries. I carried the charger with me when I went to a friends house. The extra batteries will help allot for a full day away from power.

I was never too keen on the solo myself. Mostly because of the glass stem. In that regards I feel like it is better then the Solo. Choosing between the Ascent and the Firefly is close. They both operate slightly differently and have different advantages. I am really enjoying the firefly though. It is the smoothest dry vapor I have had in a portable.

I had the cera for a while, great flavor but awkward to use. this is a much better alternative

A bad battery would be the first place I would look and if that wasn't the problem I would look at how I operate the power button.

If you are barely getting two bowls then something is wrong. I would be calling FF to see what they know on the subject.

I wrote them via regular email and through their webpage...couldn't find a phone number and I didn't get any sort of invoice with my unit. No responses yet.

I wish I was as happy as steama, I want to be. But I've pulled out my other units and have enjoyed them too. This unit has it's place in this market but best overall portable is still up for grabs in my book. If your disabled and sit at home near your AC outlet most of the day, then you may be happy. Just try to take your Firefly to a football game. Better yet, take it out on the boat for a day in the sun on the lake. Try using it when your taking a break on the ski slopes. Right now we have 1 battery and if I didn't carry along my other units I would have been left high and dry with no glow at all. So until they get their extra batteries and chargers to their customers who have already purchased and paid for them, my vote is not on this as the best portable. You can't use it while charging. That's odd, a lithium-ion battery that everyone has in their cell-phone can be used while charging but not the Firefly. These are just a few things that I've done with my Pax and Davinci.

The taste and smothness of this product are unsurpassed. The issues above will prevent me from using this unit as a true portable. If it were the best I shouldn't have to keep back ups around. If it were that great, I would buy a second one and not worry about the battery issue. But after I get the extra battery I bet it still won't be enough and I'll have to buy another. See where this is going? This is day three of no reply from Firefly. Time to pick up the phone before going out of town, without my Firefly.

I believe the reason you can't use it while it is charging is because it would drain the battery quicker then it would charge. The heating element would not get the energy it needed to get as hot as it could. Now, I could see them developing a power pass through so you could use it without a battery... sort of like the MFLB power pass through.

I picked up the extra charger and two more batteries. That cost me like $120 which is allot of money for extra power. That being said those batteries should get me through about 12 sessions out and about. That should be enough for a day away from power. Having the external charger should allow me to use a fresh battery in the unit while recharging the drained battery in the external charger.

I have an event today where I will be away from home for awhile. I will see how the firefly works on one battery. If I can have a session right before the event, during intermission, and on the way home I will be a happy camper.

We got the premium package with an extra battery and charger included for the 269. Knew this would be an issue for me. I'm addicted and use much more than most. Depending on my technique I get 4-5 sessions on my first charge. 120 bucks for additional stuff plus the 265. that's almost 400 bucks to make this a real portable. All we need now is a carrying case that will hold the extra stuff and protect the precious Firefly.

The vapor is so amazingly cool from the firefly that water filtration is really a non-issue. It would work if you could adapt it, but that could prove to be quite tricky as would the technique.

If I need true drop-on-the-ground portability I would take a Pax or a MFLB. ..Being an early adopter is risky-business so it looks like I'm the blind squirrel that found the nut for once.

I am almost never an early adopter.. The Firefly is the first vape I've acquired without hearing feedback from other users...and I have no regrets at all. The FF will likely improve in its next iteration, but so much of it is so good in V 1.0 that I'm happy to have adopted early.

As for what makes the best portable, you really read my mind with that phrase "drop on the ground portability". That's it exactly. Well-put...for me, the VB 2.0 (which is ok, but I don't love it, so, you know, dropping on the ground, not a biggie) or the MFLB (ditto) are the perfect on-the-go vapes. For the bedroom, late at night, at a small party...the FF is heaven. For me there's more to "portable" than just "out of the house". I like being untethered from my desktop vapes at home.

I'm pretty happy too. Its my first vape experience aside from a hit or two i took off an NO2 prior and I've since hit a Pax. I like the FF a lot as it suits my needs well. I was very close to buying a pax but the reviews indicated that it requires maintenance, that is can smell and most importantly that it burns through material quickly. That said the pax is ultra portable and durable and there's no learning curve making it a great vape for taking out to an event for a group to enjoy.

The FF is great for at home use for a casual toker. I'll take one or two hits and will do that every few hours throughout an evening. A bowl can last all night. The battery can last several days like this. There's literally no smell which works well with my family situation. The only time my wife has asked "what stinks?" was when I opened it to dump the ABV and that speaks volumes because she's got a nose like a blood hound. It heats immediately so you can take a quick toke and then get back to what you were doing. Also it conserves material better than any other method of consumption including a batty that I have found. In this sense, it's a true sneak-a-toke. It's not perfect for portable use because of battery life and it's somewhat conspicuous. it's not great for groups because people who haven't used it before aren't sure if they're getting hits or not. We had a group of 25+ year tokers sitting around with this thing on the first night laughing our asses off because we felt like it was our first time smoking again. The dialog was: Do you feel anything yet? I don't know man, do you? Did you get a hit? I'm not sure!

My expectation after watching the various Vapecritics on youtube prior to purchase was to have these huge clouds similar to smoking. I definitely got that from the the pax. Made me cough. I assume this is what you call a hot hit on here. With the FF I do cough sometimes but I don't get these huge clouds. I do get clouds however. Many times I don't see a cloud but I still get a buzz and it's a perfect social buzz.

So IMO it's a great piece... but for MY needs. Your mileage may vary.

I often get fairly hefty clouds if I try (material dependent, of course). I wouldn't really call these "hot hits" but they certainly are *hotter* than low visibility hits, and usually don't taste as good. But if you like a really large hit from the FF you can get one and without combusting. But you're right, the smaller ones are just as effective, usually tastier, less strain on the battery, and something the FF really excels at.
