Vitolo thats how my first session right out of the box looked. Supreme. I think that if you have convection vape experience this vape is REALLY intuitive. I have to focus way less on technique than I would with the firewood 2.0 or cera with the firefly.

I'm anxiously awaiting the return of mine. I tried the pax, but the firefly may have been the final nail in the conduction coffin for me, even the glorious form factor and simplicity of the pax. I find myself grabbing firewood 2.0 or cera while the firefly is out. Its really the best flavor and efficiancy of any vape I've used to be honest. Including desktops for now. I use about the same amount of bud in the evo, get the same effects, but way less flavor. So for a portable to rival a strong desktop (in MY experience) all I can hope is that my replacement unit works as good as the original. I already have a spare battery at home, but I doubt I'll need it. I had been getting 6+ bowls per charge and never really found the limit. Perhaps some batteries or units are better than others there, or perhaps its a technique thing.

Activation is similar to the MFLB, however it is all convection which means huge increase in flavor and efficiency. For me personally, convection vs conduction is the difference between an irritated throat or not.
Wow darkrom, thanks for this review. Quality of vapor and easy on the throat is the most important factor in choosing a vape for me! Correct me if I'm wrong, apart from the Minivap (which is double the price...), the FF is the only portable convection vape, isn't it?

FYI, I'd like to share an answer I received from Customer Service:
"We recommend about .01-.02 of your material to fill the chamber with. We have found that a chapstick cap is a good measurement as well if you do not have some sort of scale. Also, we recommend to hand tear your material rather than grinding it, and to leave it as leafy as possible, and to loosely fill it into the chamber. You do not need to firmly pack it in there, as you want to leave room for the air to pass through your material."

mod note: Edited to remove rule-breaking request.

On the topic of extraction, I have found that my Firefly continues to produce vapor beyond what I have come to expect from other portable convection vapes (i.e. the Thermovape T1 or even the Solo).

I've been using a fine grind, packing pretty loose loads and shaking between hits. I keep getting vapor until the material is evenly browned and dark. I think that with the right technique the Firefly is capable of very thorough extraction.

I would agree Technique is key. I have owned a FF for about 3 weeks now. The only time I really get close to full on combustion is with a basket/top screen combo. I usually get some dark brown ABV if I use it the way they intended. But I always find myself collecting the ABV and saving it for my OG Extreme. I set that to 420f, and I get clouds.

That being said, the FF extracts pretty much all of the heady aspects, and leaves behind the body high. If I want to get a nice dark ABV with my FF I have to really try, and I end up feeling light headed from having to pull so much lol.

I feel the purchase was worth it for the taste, and portability. I am no longer tethered to a wall, and can vape on the toilet if I want, or in my back yard, wherever really.

Yes, if I could change a couple things about the FF it would be battery life, make it less messy in the chamber (some sort of glass top screen assembly?) and maybe some way to extract the last big hit. I still finish all my material in my VTE.

But...something has changed in my house in the past ten days. Since late December I've used the FF as my bedroom vape, and the VTE as my living room/afternoon/evening device. But lately I've been missing the taste quality of the FF, and so have been using it as my main device for the past ten days...and only use the VTE as a "finisher". I find the flavor and quality of the FF so much ahead of even a great convection desktop like the VTE. So yeah, I have to iso clean the FF every day (got my deep cleaning ritual down to 6 minutes) but man, it is light years ahead of my other vapes in terms of vapor quality. Really, what's more important than taste and quality of the vapor? The other little occasionally annoying quirks of the FF pale next to the goodies it delivers. Definitely considering a second FF.

... a link to a reliable review could help...
There are plenty of reliable reviews all over this forum...if there is a vaporizer out on the market trust and believe if it has not be spoken about in this forum...DONT FUCK WITH IT!!!...all vapes mentioned and posts a few levels above this one have thorough reviews on this site...and if you have questions about a specific vape just ask. These guys will not steer you wrong.

How about making a little effort and finding the appropriate threads?

Hint: they're in the "portable" section,
or use the search engine on the upper right
LOL

You would make a very patient teacher, @grokit ... so polite. Patience is something I struggle with, in case nobody noticed.:D Must be the damn red(dish) hair!

I agree, because if i never had liked like the tastse of the vapor from the FF I would have never committed to vaping. I have not combusted since I began vaping with the FF.

I go where the thrills are
I had a personal discovery with my Firefly. I had been experiencing some harshness in the draws from my Firefly and I have heard others mention this also. I found a solution at least for me. I found that the more fine the grind the harsher the hit. Now I am down to a rough finger shred and my hits are very mellow for me as I feel they should be. Just wanted to share this.

Yes yes yes, totally agree. I start out pretty medium-to-almost-unground, and that first half of the sesh is where the vapor quality is superb if you avoid getting too aggressive with the button. I've also noticed the first five or so hits from a freshly-charged battery really deliver a punch...it's intuitive, of course, but I didn't notice until a couple days ago just how much more efficient the battery is in the first 20% or so of its charge depletion.

Still refining my technique after 10 plus weeks...the FF has a lot more nuance than at first glance.

Pay no mind to those voices in my head
So I pushed the buy button on Monday night, buying directly from the manufacturer's website. I thought that was the best way to ensure warranty service down the road. Also, I live in the Seattle area, so I thought shipping would be more direct.

Alas, to my disappointment, I got my shipment tracking email today. My gray FF is being sent FedEx, out of New Jersey, and won't get here until next Wednesday. Sigh!

Headshops in our area are willing to haggle and discount on ANY vaporizer. If you have that option, try it, on-line may not be the best deal.

No question in my mind that the best operation is when filling the bowl with coarse ground herb, loosely packed. It takes some stirring towards the end to prevent localized over-heating at the bottom center.

But what if a full bowl is too much? What if you like vaping a pinch then switching strains, several times during the day? a screen-hat to cut the effective bowl volume is the way, so you can still hold a loose pack, and not just flying particles. Don't neglect the stirring, because any screen makes the localized overheating more pronounced.

It's hard not to vape more, just to get to handle the FireFly. Buds have always been A++ wunderbar, but now that waxes are vaping so tastily (too), I'm trying to find a reason, any reason, to get a Solo. Can you vape tiny pinches well in a Solo? Finishing off ABV?

The only head shop that carries FF in my area has the FF marked at $299 and they refuse to match prices... they lost my sale:(

A more "raw" grind also helps keep it cleaner in the port and less scooby snacks getting pulled into your mouth through the air path.

Local shop in Waterbury ct is selling them for $250.

Hi Times in Berkeley did $250 tax included.

Good remedy to snacks is to not clean the lid so much, leave some stuff on the little channels around the porthole to act as a dust catcher.
True. But since its so nice and sharp looking I'm kinda OCD about cleaning it.

On a related note I made a bunch of edibles yesterday from my ABV I have been collecting and they are by far the strongest I have ever made. Knocks me out!! So if you like to reuse your ABV for edibles this is a wonderful addition to your arsenal.

Can you tell me, what was your process? Did you make a butter, then cook with the butter? Or do you simply dump ABV directly into the recipe?

ABV from this vaperizer should make great edibles as there are still so many goodies left by the end of a session. I kept all my FF ABV and may just make some brownies tonight:smug:. The ABV from my other vapes is just too spent so I toss it.

Great Scott!
Never got snacks from the Firefly in my mouth and I keep my piece and airway very clean. I am liking the vapor from a very coarse shred though.

I've done it from small 2 piece titanium space case grind, but like you I prefer a coarser grind. In fact with the firefly I prefer to break up nugs with my hands. One less tool needed.

I was packing the bowl, doing a few pulls and by then the puck would lift off of the bowl. I would push it back down and finish. Usually by then it gets a bit more brittle and crmbles. Also if I am using older material dried in my grinder I tend to get little more particulate.

I tried that but I guess I didn't shred it enough. I got a lot of uneven heaing

Yeah I feel that grinding makes the herb sit like one unit and have a tendency to lift up like a puck as you said. I like others have moved to the finger grind as it keeps larer air spaces in between the herb and the lifting does not occur. But if you look at my avatar a wound ss coil or kanthal coil can keep the herb down while not restricting airflow like a screen can do. If you decide to keep grinding one of these coils can remedy the puck lift.

Just loving my Space Coffin more and more each day. My favorite hit is the very first one from each bowl, it has a pure floral taste that makes me smile. And the second hit, now that is the one that sends me out to space.
