Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
Ahh. Finally got a good one. Fourth Firefly. I had been wondering if I was going crazy, because the first and second replacements just weren't vaping nearly as well as I remembered the first one working. (I had to return the first one because of a weird flickering light -- otherwise I loved it.) The the second one had a hard draw and weak heat -- a bad combo. I lived with the third one for months, because it seemed ridiculous to go through yet another exchange. It tasted like shit and burned my good stuff.

Finally, the fourth unit is perfectly sweet.

I'm posting just to encourage anyone who isn't thrilled with their FF to exchange it. Because it should be wonderful. I (and others, like Mitch especially) have the advantage of having experienced the joys of a FF that works right. If I had first received a bad one I would have just thought, "what's so special about this shitty thing?" and tried something else.

This last exchange was not quite as easy as the first two. They gave me a sort of questionnaire, asking details about the unit; maybe they're gathering data. They also wanted to check to see if my bad one could be repaired, which slowed down the process, and then they sent the replacement ground shipping. But they did pay for the shipping. If they are losing money because of all the exchanges, hopefully they are using the experience to create a new version without all the inconsistencies.

But this one is great: smooth draw, perfect quick heat, and great taste. The only weird thing is that it came with a small scratch -- almost a nick -- on the glass. Was it recycled? I don't know. But I'm not going to let it go as long as it's working well. (Also came with a 770.)

Yeah definitely worthwhile and customer service has been on point for the most part. I was able to get my third replacement sent same day I sent mine in as long as I paid shipping with my warranty as collateral.

Unfortunately still doesn't match the wonder of my first unit... And now it actually suddenly began having a foul smell/taste that irritates the throat, even freshly cleaned.

Seems I'll have to send in for round 4 now, shame I'll likely have to wait a long while this time around, but at least I won't pay for shipping. Would be nice if they let me keep the battery which is certainly working fine so i could have another spare 770 for my trouble...

As long as Firefly maintains their excellent standard of customer service the FF will continue to have a long lifespan even with a more advanced FF2 around some day

My three-month-old silver FF died this weekend. I am very disappointed. I submitted a support request. I hope that this can be resolved quickly. I currently do not have a backup convection or conduction vaporizer. After reading about the Grasshopper, I want a Grasshopper, but the earliest ship date on their website is December.

It'll be worth the wait, I have a firefly and a Grasshoppper, it's not even close, the grasshopper is the solution to firefly problems ;-)

Got me a Firefly 7 months ago and have been using it daily since. I realize it has its flaws for many people, but for me its best I ever had. Excellent taste, dense but cool vape. I love how you can stop the heating at a point where you get the first light wave of aroma (and terpenes), its like a first flush Darjeeling, and then you keep the heat rising to get really fat puffs of vape. It took a little learning curve to manage it without burning, so maybe its not the best choice for everyone, but its great when you choose flexibility and a broader bandwidth of effects over total ease of use. If you're the intuitive type, this is probably the one for you. Or you'ere the one for it ;) For me personally its great that it stops heating the moment you let go of the button, so I can decide its maybe enough for the moment, even while toking.

I recently sent my FF in for warranty repair, and when I got it back, it now makes a whistling noise when I inhale, and the draw resistance is much lower. I just noticed that when the lid is on, the gap between the lid and the main body is wider toward the mouthpiece side than it is on the other side. I can tell for sure because I can stick my fingernail between the gap on the mouthpiece side, but it doesn't fit at all on the other side.

I'm guessing they just didn't tighten the screws enough. Would it be safe to tighten them myself, or would that risk voiding the warranty? I'd rather not have to send it back in for another fortnight of repair service.

You will not void the warranty. Use a 5 or 6 Torx bit for all of the FF screws. (You only void if you open it up and somehow make it inoperable in the process....just opening it won't void the warranty, but I would advise against it. Tightening, however, presents no risk.)

If that doesn't work, you could have a bad lid, i.e. one with insufficient magnet strength. If that's the case FF will send you a new one gratis. Good luck!

Awesome, I'll give it a shot. Pretty sure it's not the lid because I didn't have this problem before warranty service.

EDIT: Well, the screws were already as tight as they can be....and I noticed today that the black plastic casing that holds the battery into the unit has started to crack....so I guess it's time for warranty service #2. :[

EDIT: I submitted a warranty claim, and they already got back to me and arranged everything. This time, they're actually going to ship me a replacement as soon as I give them a working tracking number. I don't have to wait two weeks this time. I love this company, and they really make the best portable. I'm totally buying another one when I can afford it.

Sold my Firefly today...may it love long and prosper. Just often was not needing on demand hits and it doesn't make sense to use as a session vape for me. Hadn't used it in months but I did last night and still was blown away by the taste. A great product that I'd recommend to anyone, just wasn't right or necessary for me. Glad to see it being put to good use, the guy seemed pretty legit and mentioned some other vapes he had experience with, so I'm confident it's in good hands.

Update:
Unfortunately, it is going to take approximately two weeks before I receive a repaired or new FF from VapeWorld because my FF was a local retailer purchase.

After a little over a week of going old school unsuccessfully trying to revive my back-in-the-day rolling skills and using a small pipe, I picked up a silver PAX 2 today. The PAX2 is nice. However, I still want a GH.

Hi guys, first post on FC but I've been a vaper for a couple of years now. Anyway, I've just received my FF and I've followed the instructions, pre-heat for 10 secs before draw etc and I'm not getting any visible vapor no matter how long I hold the button for (even 30secs!). I've tried different draw rates. Packed the bowl as per advice given here and even tried the other battery that came with and still no real vapor production. The oven glows red as it's supposed to but still no joy. The herb only has a slight browning, no matter what I do. Could my FF be faulty?

I've got a few other portables like the MFLB, Lotus, Solo, Daisy, Lily, Vapman and various VG classics all of which produce visible vapor (in varying degrees, Daisy being the biggest imo) so I'm not a newbie to portables

Hi, thanks for the reply. I purchased mine from a vendor on Amazon UK. I got the FF to go pack with the spare battery and charger. It certainly doesn't look or feel like a fake, but I don't know for sure.

Can you upload pics direct to FC or do I need to use something like photobucket?

Thanks for any help you can give.

quick update: I've spoken to Jamie at FF and he has confirmed that mine is genuine  He has also given me some tips. It may be that my grind is to fine. I've got a mendo muncher grinder which has been great for all my vapes, except the mflb, which I use the finishing grinder for. So, Ill try a hand grind and see if that helps.

Make sure your lid is on correctly. Try squeezing it gently while drawing. (If this helps materially it indicates a problem with the lid seal or magnet.) Also try pre-heating for a full 30 seconds and release and re-press and then draw. (Additionally, try pulsing the button while you draw...this will spike the heat.)

Honestly, I love the FF folks but I doubt the issue is your grind. While I wouldn't recommend a fine grind in the FF for other reasons, a properly-functioning Firefly should make short work of finely-ground material.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Follow up after sending in my Firefly for battery issue:
The unit came back with a replacement battery for the previously dead one. Possibly the body/heater itself was also modified in some way, as the bowl came back cleaner than I remember, but I'm really not sure as they didn't leave any notes. The replacement battery didn't come in retail packaging, and I'm not sure it's actually new. It has trouble making contact with the body and external charger sometimes. With the body, it will fail to light up the LED at all (not even red). With the external charger, it always starts by blinking blue (normal), but sometimes starts flashing red after a while. In either case, re-seating the battery seems to do the trick, but I definitely don't have this problem with my other (older) battery, nor was it a problem with the dead/replaced one. Luckily the problem is uncommon with the external charger (only twice so far), and fairly easy to workaround when in use with the main body (just give it a bump or two to knock the battery slightly until it lights up), so I guess I can live with it. Not feeling eager to contact customer support about it again at the moment.

(Pathetically) I've also become more addicted to this expensive battery eater over the last month or so. I think I've finally got the technique down, and now I'm really hooked on the convenience/quickness, flavor, and vapor production. I'm finally getting big clouds. I'll probably end up buying more expensive batteries too.

Question, people speak of using an Ariser dome screen to cut down the volume of the bowl or to keep it clean. There are 2 screen packs available on their website one with 4 & one with 6 Do they both have the same dimensions to fit the FF bowl? and is there much added draw resistance.

Yes, they are all the same. There's only one Arizer dome size....just different amounts in the different packs.

It won't affect draw resistance. It does degrade flavor a bit, but YMMV and all that....

Thanks mitchgo61, forgive me but I don't get the"but YMMV..."
Your miles may vary

That's right....my point being you might not experience any negative flavor impact when using the Arizer baskets...it was just my personal experience. (This is why God gave us internet shortcuts...to shut up people like me....:lol:.)

While we're on the subject, I never found the basket screens to be all that useful, but a flat top screen can be helpful in raising the heat and aiding extraction. (Again, YMMV....yeah, I said it....:p)

Hey guys
I'm looking for a portable device for medicating concentrates. I wanted ask if anyone could compare it to a dab and how they like using the concentrate pads? I wanna get a FF but it will be strictly used with concentrates.
Any info is appreciated.

I have never tried concentrates in my firefly but if it's only concentrates your using I might suggest something specifically for that purpose, lots to choose from, here are just a few...

I have a dabstorm and compared to a dab IMO there is more draw restriction but better flavour.
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/dabstorm-ceramic-dab-pen.19538/

This is probably as close to a dab you can get but is brand new, I don't have one but based on the fact it's basically a nail with bubbler.
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/n...-in-glass-bubbler-by-green-light-vapes.19635/

These two are similar to the dabstorm but probably easier to get hold of in the U.S.
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/source-orb-pen-vape.16295/

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-dr-dabber-pen.10680/

Things like these will give much better battery life than the firefly and most are a lot more stealthy if that's important, I'm sure others will be along to comment on use with the firefly but I'm not sure too many members have used concentrates (in the firefly anyways)

Anyway just to keep (or get back on topic) my firefly is still going great, I've changed from a 5 second preheat to 10 seconds and removed the screen and now use the lid part of a ELB instead, loving it so far able to finish a bowl in two hits :science:
