The "Coil Cap" Coil Heating System for TRWW Quartz Vaporizers

Hi, many of you may already be familiar with my vaporizers which have all been butane powered. Over the last 6 months I have been working on the "Coil Cap". The coil driven version of the "Quartz Cap". But given the shear luck of my design process, the 2 coils fit all but one of the vapes. I believe that I have around 75 units out right now as "BETAs" but in the end the final product isn't really much different.

I started this project by designing a much more complicated Quartz heater to go with a coil. This much more complicated heater would do the exact same thing as the original "Quartz Cap" Heater. After speaking with the manufacturer, I decided to rethink my idea. This took me all the way back to, "how do I hold a coil on my existing heater?" just to test. I found the clips Im still using today and I was off and running. The clips proved to be a beautiful solution. Not only did they work really well, they made it so that I could work with my existing heaters, and users could use the coils with the vaporizers they already owned without having to buy a new Quartz Heater.

The coils offer a different experience than butane. The butane device tends to ramp up to temp and then ramp down. This is when a reheat is required. The "Coil Caps" heat always continues to ramp up. This makes for an interesting coil vape given that its essentially a session vape. In my usage, I am getting 4-5 hits per session. But at lower temps you could get much more. I typically run the 18mm Quartz Cap at 580 and the 14mm at 530. I Start with a heat soak of the entire bowl for 1 minute. This produces a 4-5 hit session that leaves medium ABV. In cordless mode im running 760 and 670 respectively, preheating the bowl for 10-20 seconds, loading it and then hitting away. While using the coiled version is pretty straightforward, the cordless version does take some technique.

Here is the current ecosystem. I'm in the final stages of development

New shorter heaters with bottom flair eliminates the need for the bottom clip

They can all be used wirelessly

The coils have given me the ability to play with other ideas - BETA coming soon

My demo videos arent the best but i'll make some more soon

I shall wait quietly in the corner for an 18mm coil to hit the UK.

My flowerpot PID may get dusted down and put into use. I'm assuming they'll fit (I can always resolder bits if not)?

Cheers dude!

This looks awesome! Any idea when the new heaters will be available? I broke the heater on my mega quartz cap shortly after I bought it, would love to replace it with the new style

@wc169711 Im hoping in less than 30 days. This is just for the 14 and 18 QC right now but I have a BETA coil coming soon to test with the Mega heater so it shouldn't be too long until i have a full coil version of the Mega

Got it! Been looking for a good excuse to get a smaller version anyway…..I will keep an eye out for it next month

On the long quest to a complete project/product, I am one step closer. I have received the wire clips for the cordless setup!! I have made a bunch of handles and will list them in the next few days. I went with a bunch of different styles but they will be broken into 4 tiers or so for price. Plain Cherry at the top of the page for $18. Dyed and clear coated for $23. Copper top for $27. And custom turned for $32, $35 for Cocobolo

Well, I didn't have long to wait. Just ordered one from Rec Vape in the UK!

Oooh, feels like Christmas round here already. I may bust the old tree out from up in the loft! :sherlock:

@RedZep if by 'Baller Head" you mean the one with the Rubys than yes , its more of a 1-3 hits and a bowl preheat isn't necessary but i still do like 10-15 seconds. I have also been using the wireless as more of an on demand 1-3 hits

@Username88 Thanks, these handles are just for the wireless version but I'm just now geared up to start making handles that should fit a wide range of wired coils for my, and other devices.

@Marcus yah RVS has a stock of both size coils now

Hi Rogue. Sorry for the repeated questions. I appreciate you taking the time.

Will thr new flared heater be available separately? Also will you be sending a supply of them to RVS?

Mine landed this morning thanks to Postman Pat.
I pinched the handle off my flowerpot, so we're all ready to rock and roll.
Looks like I need to write this afternoon and evening off for some testing! I have a few jars of Mountain Gold that's curing ready to also be tested.
I shall report back with my findings. :brow:

Im hoping to have 20 baller heads and shorter heaters in the next 2 weeks and full kits by mid November

My first coil handle

I love the 18mm wired cap coil for my terpcicle. It works great and I use the timer and it’s perfect. Smooth experience! Is there a handle available for the wired coil edition?

After a weekend of testing, I'm running it at 240*C through a globe bubbler and am very happy with it.
It's a nice little sipper with the globe bubbler for a few minutes, or a big quick ripper in a tall bong and the temp up a little.

Those clips do slip if I'm being clumsy, but I'm shutting the PID off after a bowl and reseating everything just before I turn it on again for another blast.

Ah nice, you installed a handle? Or did you purchase it that way?

So, can someone help me out on the differences and pros and cons between the quartz cap and Terpcicle designs?

It's the handle off the flowerpot. I'm using the PID off that with this too.

Just a heads-up, I've seen a few people shatter glass ashtrays with the heat from a ball vape. Ceramic seems to tolerate it fine, but I would be careful with this.

I suppose a quartz dish would work too 🙂
Thanks!

It's a candle holder, I don't leave the coil on when I place it on it, it's on there warming up and cooling down really.
Also popped a silicone dab mat underneath, just incase of a slip or drop.
