The Chinese SJK Induction Heater and The VapCap

Salutations,

The chip in the solder side is a THX208. It's the PWM controller that switches the ac/dc power conversion. ... Quick look before I headed out and it looks like that 14 pin IC is just controlling the little cooling fan.

Nice findings which prove how risky that is to gamble on incomplete pictures! Well done.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

P.S.: What happened to the LED(s)?

The LED is also controlled by that 14 pic IC. It all seems to be ultimately controlled by that 8 pin SMD chip. I am guessing it's some kind of small microprocessor. Maybe a PIC or a knockoff. The only marking on the chip is "355G 0945". One is likely a date code and the other may be a production code. I don't think either identify the chip.

Unfortunately, my second heater has NO numbers on the chip (that I can see). If anyone else takes theirs apart, I would love to know what ID is on that chip. If they are different, then I am probably correct in assuming they are date and production codes which will tell us nothing.

If I can figure the I/O pins I can put a logger on it see what kind of data is being passed. Once that data is parsed, the language should be a pretty easy ID aid.

Guys, I have said this a million times.... heat the tip WITHOUT the cap and you will see they get too hot to touch in just seconds. It's not just the cap that's heating. It's the entire tip.

Try it and see.

This is the exact same technology that Pipes uses and no one seems to think his just heats the cap?????

Don't mean to keep pounding on this but it seems like no one sees my posts about this. LOL

Here is the guy I bought mine from but it looks like he is out of stock... https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Pcs-TM-Glass-Chillum-Bowl-One-Hitter-Pipe-Glass-Hand-Pipe-Cigarette-Tobacco/263707407701?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

A search of "glass chillum" will provide hundreds of results.
Shipping price same as the product price FU.

My IH arrived today a few days ahead of estimated delivery date. Tried it with my ti omni xl and some kief and I'm very pleased with the results. However I don't consider the mains adapter they sent along with it to be safe for use here in the UK. I've ordered one from amazon along with some glass straws. Hopefully I'll be in business by Saturday.

Always respect the click of your vapcap, the IH will click as it cycles on and off, but you will feel and hear the vapcap click(twice actually), it will be a little different to the IH. After you get to know both devices better you might play with `dancing around the click' , but to start, respect the click.

SJK= Silent Joint Killer, man you can get through some bowls quick with this, not having to fuck around with lighters and twirling.
I almost pulled the trigger on a Honest table lighter just before being told about this on the Vapcap thread, glad I saved myself some money (the lighter was more expensive) and got the quiet, civilised option.

Well..... I don't know about being SILENT !! LOL

The cooling fans on these things are loud as fuck. Maybe it's just me but when the fan stops running, it sounds like a train just stopped. LOL I am thinking about a replacement fan also. I'm sure I have an old laptop around here that I can re-task a little better quality fan.LOL

Salutations Hackerman,
Salutations LesPlenty,

Always respect the click of your vapcap...

Only because it ain't taking benefit of the "Curie effect"...

So far!

If anyone else takes theirs apart, I would love to know what ID is on that chip.

Initially my mention of the NoFlame was only meant to find some 3rd-party ready-made ("Black-Box") IH driver suitable for the task...

(AmannGirrbach - Noflame Plus)

Any idea how hot the dental tools can get in this induction heater?

...and it seems this old interrogation of mine has been answered finally, thanks to you!

But now i' wondering what's the purpose to reverse-engineer a particular product which may happen to correspond to early revisions, while there may be other options with even more punch, for example:

YouTube: Give your Hair Volume with Cloud Nine The O Heated Rollers (2010-Jul-15)

The later used to be rated 650 Watts, back then... And now this:

The cooling fans on these things are loud as fuck.

So is it possible this 130 Watts IH driver in need of a PWM PSU, a High-Voltage power stage, relays and heavy ventilation might be a lesser deal compared to one of those Hot Roller machines built with fancy women hairstyle salons in mind??

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

Salutations HackerMan,

Only one way to find out...

Right, though count me out as there's just no need, as far as i'm personally concerned:

In fact i knew, long ago, that for me IH mode would also imply "Hot Dry Air" for its "Release/Transport Agent", m'well unless i include Inlet Water into my design, that is:
Unfortunately i find a bit futile to dream of some magnetic gear with secondary boilers/evaporators and 3 different Curie alloys when a single one already sounds like science-fiction. FYI walking the path until i got a set of properly tweaked Hybrid Cores to recommend here has cost me a couple thousand Canuck dollars as it is - besides the years and perseverance such task actually required - and still counting because, if you must ask, it turns out i got more "Plan-B" projects on my to-do list right now:
This is the only way i can avoid definitive abstaining, not to mention my "window" of opportunity was practically passed more than a year ago... The advancement of IH driving rejuvenates my enthousiasm & support but i'll invest my resources on a spare pipe or 2 instead, before we fall into the universe of planet Itnoc, next mid-October...

So it appears i'm stuck with clean-burning butane considering that IH drivers will remain "dry" for still quite a long while IMHO. I wish i could wait forever until Self-Moisturizing and Potentialization are integrated in an IH-driven pulse-heating concept - although it's been done before, just not yet.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

I went to replace my cord today and I realized that the cord I was going to use was no better than the existing. In fact, the existing cord is not all that bad. In addition, the existing 'universal' plug they have isn't all that bad. Nice molded plug. Decent strain relief. Good grip. So, it became obvious that it's the piece of shit adapter they include that is really the pits.

So, I decided to simply replace the plug and see how it worked.

I used a simple plug from Home Depot. About $2.

Common is blue and goes on the silver terminal.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-15-Amp-125-Volt-Light-Duty-Plug-R52-00101-0WP/100356964

Bing bang boom... new plug. At least this one fits nicely into the socket. I'm not huge on screw terminal connections but it sure doesn't get any easier.

I'll let you know if I have any problems.

My new adapter arrived yesterday so I was able to start using my IH. After a little experimentation and another quick read through this thread I was getting great results very quickly ! Tried it out with my 3 VC's (M17, blackwood nonavong and omnivap ti xl) Had a particularly memorable session with my nonavong and mini bubbler...Ah, nothing like a new toy to play with to get one extremely high ! Thanks again to those who first decided to take the plunge and try out the SJK and report back !

Yeah, it is definitely vape sneaking out. Just a couple tiny wisps. The induction heater must generate a certain amount of pressure with the heat and it pushes the tiny wisp out the crack between the cap and the tip.

The same thing could be happening with a torch but the flame would consume it as soon as it escaped so you would never see it.

Plus, it only happens to one of my caps and not the other two??????

@felon167inc The only cap I have that leaks is almost perfectly round and falls off the tip all the time. Even the click will make the cap jump right off the tip.

The other 2 caps I have have been 'squished' oval so they fit more snugly. Neither of those caps leak.

Not really a big deal but it's a little annoying to watch that little wisp escape every time. LOL

I actually chocked my IH up at the back so the vap cap is inserted slightly upwards, don`t know if it fixed the problem but it ended up flat again. I just keep waiting for Jeannie to show up.

Mine arrived today :) - It's pretty shoddy and had grubby thumbmarks on it :uhoh: but it appears to work . No instructions whatsoever, in any language. Heating from cold is weird, It seems to take a long time for the cap to click, or I panic and pull it out for fear of combusting. Maybe I'll use that first cycle empty "pre-heat oven mode". Got good clouds on second run, not so much on third. I know I would have got more with my lighters but I'm sure I'll figure it out.... And what's happening with the LED? I get green, good to go, I guess. Insert the Vapcap and it turns red with a little green blink - heating, I presume, the apparatus clicking in synch. When the cap clicks, the LED stays red, a bit longer and it flashes amber (?). Are we going 4 Mississippi with this?
