Discontinued Supreme Vaporizer

Note to self: Reserach this vape more.

I was going to make Supreme my next purchase, then I realized I have to blast the thing with a torch? Just when I thought I am done with lighters and stuff...

Is there an easy way to heat this thing up, or plug it into something? Why does it have a lcd panel if it doesn't even heat things up? Should I go back and read 45+ pages, or are you forced to use a torch no matter what?

What a bummer - I was really digging the Supreme!

Sessnet, since the Supreme requires lots of heat in order to get those really big rips, a torch is the best way to heat it up. I have heard of people using an electric stove to heat it up as an alternative to torching, however.

This is not a vaporizer for rookies, to be sure. I find that the extra "work" of manually hitting it with a torch is a small price to pay for the results that you get.

The LCD panel is to give you accurate temperature readings while you are torching it. I have found the tastiest temp is to stop heating at around 230 degrees and let it continue to rise to 250 degrees, then take a hit. It is not super cloudy at that temp, cloudy, thick hits are better found around the 300 degree mark, at that temp it will put you into a coughing coma. It is a little more work, but it is a killer vaporizer.

the LCD takes the guesswork out of the torching process and definitely simplifies it

you dont have to pay attention to the color the glass heats up, timing, etc
just read the numbers :D

I am still seriously considering this. Does any one know when the other/new/electric/whatever version would be out?

I think the main purpose of the SV was to have cordless, big hitting operation. It's like you are saying you want them to design something that they didn't want to make in the first place.

I believe that Ed has been working on an electric model on his own, so I don't think anyone is asking for new designs, rather anticipating what Ed has up his sleeve.

Wait for the electric version, if its fixed temp like people have been saying, itll be a LOT safer then the torch heater version. Going a little too hot will allow the aluminum to off gas, and if you accidentally combust or come close in the SV, you will surely be creating a danger with the aluminum.

I dont even see the SV #2 on ebay anymore, is it even available right now?

Odd its listed $20 more than it originally was.
It ended over a month ago though

NYC, just a fyi it is still on ebay, and this one its $20 less if you bid on it but $220 for buy it now.
Quite odd.

SD_haze,
If we had to speculate I'd say don't heat it for over five minutes. Idk how Ed test's them for off gassing but the ebay ad say he does so I'm sure there is good control there just with Alan, Rick, and even Dave. But I've used strickly hash in it before up to 400+ soo :puke:

You've done 100% hash bowls??
In the aluminum heating tube?

SD_haze,
Yeah it churned out to be a sloppy mess with the bubble hash, luckily none got stuck to the block and all the vape rocks/dust came out. What do you guys feel about the durability of the aluminum block?

I am a lucky guy, in that I have been asked by Ed to announce a great deal for you all!
Supreme is having a HUGE liquidation sale on the Supreme Vaporizer # 2 model to make room for a newer butane powered model that will use a bi-metallic thermometer instead of a digital thermometer. The current Supreme Vaporizer # 2 package is selling for $80.00 plus $11.20 for shipping. This offer does not include the insulating cap ($25 extra if needed).
Ed hasn't announced it online yet because he is very busy with other projects.
Anyone interested in getting this offer must contact Ed directly and mention that they want the liquidation discount. He will then email them a Paypal invoice.

Thats an awesome deal i dont think i can pass up. My supreme has been torched to shit and its about time to get a new one.

Vito, Did he trash the electric model idea altogether? The thermometer wasnt a problem with the old model to me. The main problem was overtorching the aluminum

Sweet offer indeed.. but i am more interested in the new model coming ? Do you expect the bimetal t meter to be more accurate ? Some users report weird metalic/wooden taste with the supreme . Any change of the internals or airpath materials ? ?

I have both Supreme vaporizers and have never experienced a wood or metallic taste, I do not know what difference a bi-metal thermometer will have on the unit, I do know there were some problems with the digital thermometers in the beginning, perhaps the bi-metal design will be more reliable, sometimes the old school methods work the best, but most likely it will not be as accurate to read as the digital. The digital reads in tenths of a degree, very hard to duplicate with a bi-metal design.

I will say I have never regretted the $200 I invested into the Supreme, if I didn't feel like the one I have will last forever, I would buy another for $80 in a heartbeat. For the 80 bucks, you would never find a better vaporizer!

the SV2 is so small you definitely would need to buy the insulating cap so $116+tax not 80, but still 50% off.

the electric model that was first mentioned was a lot less portable...but a butane powered unit? Sounds ultra-portable

SD_haze,
Woah, wait a second? Butane powered.... Does that still mean you will need to torch it or will it be more of a refill unit like the iolite?

The 'insulating cap' is made from cardboard and tape, really not a great bargain for 25 bucks. Fold your own and save $24.90.

I would think folding your own it wouldn't fit as perfectly as the one from Ed does, but then again I never tried. Definitely not a good bargain but the way it fits is jussst right.

If you're a decent handyman I suppose you could get it just right too.
