I’m still very happy with how clean my glass stays.
So update. I've been using pbw about 1 a week. Iso and salt scrub everyday. Gets my glass clean. I still want to try acetone to see how it does.

Since it hasn’t been mentioned, Alconox is also a strong glass cleaner. I have PBW that I should use more often but I typically clean all my glass in rotation at least once a week with warm iso (haven’t been using salt since i have been reusing the iso). I also only use distilled water after having a ton of water stains before discovering PBW and Alconox. PBW soak once a year along with weekly alcohol cleanings is probably sufficient for me. Moral of the story is being diligent with regular deep cleanings is much easier than trying to fix the problem after it’s started.

Thank you. I do pbw once a week or my flowerpot and concentrates can gunk it up pretty bad in a day or two. I will have to look at alconox.

I've read this all to check that nobody has spoken about activated charcoal.
It's nowadays hype, I know; but it could be something to consider in the case you store some pieces for long time in a cupboard.
Perhaps a lil sack in the next piece in rotation can be switched to next piece to come and so on.
By the way the tricks listed seemed to work so no more worries.

There is so much great info in this thread, but your original post bugs me. Isn't this like saying;
"Guys my hands are always dirty! I can't get them clean! Shortly after washing them and rubbing them with mud they are dirty again! Do I need better soap?"
Like yeah my glass smells like reclaim after I vape through it even once after cleaning.
Yeah I should have been more thorough in explaining. The smell really smelled like an old plastic water bottle that was Drank from awhile ago and now it stinks from bacteria growth or it smell and tasted like the thc globs that can form if you ever squished one just because, I can’t be the only one haha. I know it will come back after using but a couple uses should not have been enough to curl your lip at or be disgusted with.
Since finding a regiment that cleaned thoroughly and completely removed smell and taste I can go a few days without cleaning I went two days and that specific taste did not return to that extent. I’m ordering a sonic cleaner for my glass now too just to take a step further cleaning. Also looking at citric acid to rinse with. After racking my brain I think I narrowed it down to the water I was washing and rinsing with contained bacteria that would grow and flourish in the water. My town is getting a new water treatment facility to help improve the quality. That’s just a guess but it’s the best I have

That is a common culprit.
My bong also tastes bad after i vape. Just clean it with ISO daily and it is normal again.
Maybe hot water with dishwater detergent can help. Or Oxi vanish, (thats the stuff to get stains out of clothes).
It probably helps best if you have a plug to seal of the built-in chillum so you can fill up the entire bong with water.

Its a pretty unique smell dirty vape bong water. Kind of smells like what you would imagine a damp unwashed hippy to smell like minus the Body Odor.
I rinse mine out with hot water, salt and hand sanitizer at the end of the day, and it gets rid of that unsightly condensation that forms, interfering with your milking.
I feel it is pretty important to wash it every day rather than just change the water, as gunk that builds up can be very hard to remove vs gunk that gets maintained (I get a yellowish white residue very quickly in my little bubbler). The current bong I am using took weeks of cleaning to shine, since it was previously used for smoking and it collected an absolutely horrific amount of tar in the cracks and crevices.

Use distilled water instead of tap, which leaves no residue or funk. Very easy to find and cheap.

PBW and boiling water cleans my glass in a matter of seconds. I follow that with a vinegar rinse for disinfection purposes and to make sure all of the PBW is neutralized.
This is from pro brewer website, but think it is equally applicable:
"Acid Cycle
After the cleaner cycle you’ll ask yourself “Why should I run an acid cleaning cycle when the vessel looks perfectly clean?”
Cleaners are great for removing tough organic soil from the surface of stainless steel, but the additional acid cycle is required to remove inorganic material that could be hiding in the pores of your stainless steel that standard cleaners are too large to penetrate. Also, most cleaners are very sticky and, even after a good hot water rinse, there can still be residue. The acid cycle will remove the inorganic solids, beer stone, hard water, minerals and residue left over from the initial cleaning cycle."

+1 for boiling water when you need to liberate thick stuff you can’t reach. I can usually get it all with hot running water from the tap on simple pieces but sometimes you need the extra heat.
Big piece I’d (use it first! lol) boil enough to fill it just to heat soak it. Boiling more while that heats up. Dump it, add fresh boiling, shake as violently as you safely can. Repeat until spotless.
It’s not dissolving the stuff exactly it’s melting it so the water moving fast as possible makes it work.
I’ve been putting a bit of vinegar in the water and boiling the mixture. Not sure that’s better but doesn’t hurt.
I never ever use IPA in the airway parts anymore. I was sure I’d rinsed enough once and didn’t. Just no.
