Even with the restrictor disc? What about pulling the flame back a bit?
Yes even with the disc. I started pulling the flame back towards the end but it was too late.

Sorry if it was obvious to you but how about starting the flame back outYes even with the disc. I started pulling the flame back towards the end but it was too late.
I was kind of dealing with this last night. I thought of @nonamekevin and did a pretty full bowl. I got massive clouds that I had to pause my draw. I didn't want to stop so after I spent the bowl, I just covered enough of the screen and had success, but took a long slow draw.
Thinking of my Vapcap, I noticed the first draw kind of preps the oven for me, and an immediate draw after a short pause gives me the best result. I hope that makes sense.
It definitely gets better as you figure this thing out. I thought I liked this and the Dynavap the best but this guy does it for me. Flip all the way.
my brick came with an Eagle and I cant get the material hot enough for much vapor. The flame is really small even on full...
Did you purchase new? That's the first brick I've heard come from sticky brick with a torch other than an honest.
I forget if you got an og or a Runt. I just wanted to cast another vote for the restrictor disk and the included Honest torch. With my og limba brick that's all you need for easy, consistent results. I'll generally use between .1 and .2g so never a really full bowl although full bowls work great.Went out of town for the weekend, left the brick home, but jumped right back into it shortly after walking in the door yesterday afternoon.
After 2 bowls, I confirmed MUCH easier time getting good results with a bigger amount of herb in the oven. I was getting bigger clouds, less "sucking hot air," more consistent coloring, and easier to take it darker! With smaller loads I found I could get a couple of good hits, but at some point, no matter what I did, I couldn't get past a certain level of "toast." A bigger load seems to make it easier to extract more? It also makes it possibly easier to get that whistle everybody talks about, I'm pretty sure I heard it!
I had to pause my draw a couple of times - not expecting to get such clouds after all of my previous attempts. But yes I agree, the first draw seems to "preheat" the flower for the follow up bigger and better hit.
It was either a bigger load or a more consistent tamping that got me there - I suppose there's a chance it has to do with torch and inhale technique, but I didnt intentionally change anything there, so...
I came home to a box from Delta3D, had a scoop and tamp in it so I loaded up with 3 scoops and a nice even tamp. Looks like thatll be my new starting point!
I got the eagle too, purchased new and direct from SBL. I was thinking the same thing, that I couldn't get it hot enough. How big are your loads? I couldnt get anything darker than a light golden toasty color, went for a bigger load and found it much easier to get good extraction, even with the eagle torch, although turned up high!

The three things I think a new Brick user would need to dial in are 1) flame height, 2) torch technique, 3) draw technique.
For flame height anything like medium should be fine.
I point the torch straight down the straight intake paying attention to how deep it is. I'll generally make a slight circular motion but I'm mostly adjusting the torch with down and up movements for more or less heat.
With my og it really pays to embrace a long, steady draw and the huge mouthpiece gives you a very clear sense of how aggressive your extraction is. I keep the carb covered the whole time and only take my finger off to clear the very end of the hit, otherwise I'd only feather the carb if I was getting so milky that I started to worry about combusting. In general the more aware you are of your torch height the less you need to involve the carb for anything but clearing the hit.
I get great results just putting a scoop or two in the bowl with maybe a shake to even it but little to no tamping necessary. Apologies if this is all familiar stuff to you already.

I’m getting the technique down a little better even with the Eagle now...with the disc in. I really like this Scorch torch I bought local for $25. Now I’m grinder shopping...

Yeah I havent combusted yet I've actually been having the opposite problem where it doesnt seem like I can get enough heat to the flower.
If you're grinder shopping I suggest Grinders for Life / Brilliant Cut Grinder. A bit pricey and a considerable wait time for a grinder, but also worth every penny IMO.

Tl;dr: If your Runt is slow to milk up I'd increase the flame size and/or position the flame further down the intake.
The Honest torch is nothing special; it's just a single flame with decent flame size. At a medium I usually have the flame about halfway inserted.
One thing I've noticed is that just bumping the torch from medium to a bit more flame can make a noticeable difference. That said, I have some cheap Amazon single flame torches that came in a five pack and at their max they don't have a big enough flame for a beast like the limba og.

@BrianTL you said your Tiny Might is your daily. I have a good selection and really was into the Dynavap but I am becoming more a believer of the Sticky Bricks.
I am not getting even burns so I think will try to move the flame around, or stir in between.
As far as I understood it works very good with the flip brick, which one you have?Anyone had luck turning the disc upside down? A guy on reddit suggested it...

Try it and tell us.. seems to me it'll work just fineno I have the Runt
My disk came turned with the threaded end pointing into the glass intake. Is turning it upside down putting the threaded part down toward the bowl? If so, that resulted in a more scorched, hot-spotted bowl when I tried it. I keep mine with the threaded side up, toward the glass intake.Anyone had luck turning the disc upside down? did u stir the bowl after first hit? maybe that can helpMy 1st draw was the best I’ve had so far but then I sucked in butane and struggled the rest.
ive had huge success lately using a large dab torch...
