Sore throat from vaporizing?

Hi, everybody! This is my first post... And my first vaporizing experience.

My boyfriend and I bought a Magic Flight vaporizer two days ago. We are using it for weed almost exclusively, although we did try it mixed with some thyme yesterday.

After this two days, both of us have gotten quite severe sore throat. No fever, no headache... Just plain sore throat.

Is this normal? Are we doing something wrong? How can we avoid this from happening?

I've quit tabaco like a month ago, he hasn't yet. We've learnt that vaporizing would be a healthier option, and couldn't imagine this side effect. Help!

When ever you vape you should have a hot drink and cold water sipping both .

Is that normal to get a sore throat from vaping nope but you vaped some thyme? Sorry why in the hell would you go and do that for?
this what the oil turns into

Looks like you need to drink warm rum or whiskey to dissolve the crystals in your throat .

Thanks for the advice. So I should drink both hot and cold after a session?

I'm curious: Why would warm alcohol work better than water?

We smoked thyme before we got sore throat. A lot of pages talk about the benefits of smoking different herbs. Where we got our vaporizer, the salesmen gave us chamomile to try.

During your sessions your you should be drinking both keep the throat wet when vaping.

The warm alcohol is need to remove the thyme crystals from your throat they do not dissolve in water.
(((otherwise steam would work on your sore throat)))

Some herbs (well most))are safe to vape however there are a few like thyme that one shouldn't
always google the herbs before you vape active compound in thyme is used in mouthwash very powerful stuff.

The Salesman gave you some herbs to vape?? Unless its legal to smoke pot its just a legal thingy
stating you will be using it for legal purposes only. With every bong i sold (opps i mean waterpipe) we would include a small packet of natural tobacco i often wondered how many would really smoke it.

Are you using the glass tube with the magic ? might add some tubing to cool down the vape some may just be to hot and dry

@Wizsteve
Is this from smoking or vaping? I love researching this kind of thing, but on a cell at the moment and just briefly found a bunch of positives on vaping thyme. The first site even stated it enhanced the effect of mmj. (though again, this is from a brief read and not an in-depth review)

What's your source of info? Please share it!

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Taire,
I would hold off on the thyme for now and just focus on cannabis. Once you get this solved then you can try adding some of these other herbs back into your vaping experience.

Definitely drink something during vaping. Vapor straight from the magic box through the plain mouthpiece is going to be warm and dry.

You can also buy a few things to try with your magic box if you wanted. You can pick up some medical grade silicone tubing that attaches to the mouthpiece. This will allow the vapor to cool before reaching your mouth. You can also add a gong attachment to the end of the tubing. A gong is a ground glass fitting that would slide into a waterpipe. The vapor would then be cooled and humidified by the waterpipe before reaching your throat.

Magic flight sells the whip tubing with the adapter. http://www.vapornation.com/magic-flight-water-filtration-whip.html
You can then slip this into a waterpipe of your choosing. This gong is fitted for a 14mm waterpipe. They also sell an adapter if your waterpipe is 18mm.

Magic flight makes their own water device with everything needed, the orbiter, though it is a bit expensive. http://www.vapornation.com/magic-flight-orbiter.html

Then there's this thing...

Vapor through a waterpipe will always be easier on the throat. I attach my vape to a waterpipe 95% of the time for the same reason. Yes, it's more shit to buy, but if you're gonna be vaping for a while (and you know you like your herb ;)) then it will be well worth it.

At first your throat needs to get used to vaping, but this is 1000x healthier for you than smoking all that crap into your lungs.

Remember... Fuck Combustion.

I agree with a water pipe for helping sooth the throat, also drinking tons of water; especially with warm water or on a candle/mug warmer. I like to inhale mint oil before my hit or suck on a mint like an Altoid during my session.

If one were to pick a MF product like the UFO; I highly suggest going for the Bottle Rocket over it. The UFO is kind of a stressful device and doesn't stay on the glass well enough. You can't easily hold the cup and have to move towards it. The bottle rocket just fixes all the usage and awkward issues of the UFO.

I did the same thing. Bought a vape, got a sore throat and then read here what the problem was. i never thought of it. it would be nice if the sellers would mention that many people need to drink water (i never tried the warm and cool water before) or use a water or ice tool to cool down the toke.

Enjoy the vaping. it took me a few days to really like it vs a joint.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king
Everyone is different. My first vape was an MFLB and it was our daily driver for several months. I still use it a few times a week to top off the buzz from my other vapes when I'm too impatient to wait on the other vapes to heat up.

I get an occasional low level throat/lung sensitivity from the MFLB that I don't get from my other vapes. Kinda like when someone says I've got a tickle in my throat. My wife doesn't get the tickle.

Assuming your using it correctly (Around a 5 second battery press, draw a few seconds and release battery), your herb isn't bad/moldy/tainted and your not combusting...... A serious sore throat caused by the MFLB would surprise me.

Using water to drink or vape through with the MFLB isn't something I did or do often with the MFLB.

Do you see vapor on exhale? The MFLB isn't big on clouds so anything beyond a whisp might be a clue. I don't have any experience with thyme other than cooking so can't comment.

Sipping water can't hurt ..... but you might want to get rid of that sore throat before using the MFLB again and don't use the thyme when you start again.
