The 1.5oz unit would probably be more what I'm interested in. Do you have a price point for this size (with and without the electric heating mechanism)?

A joke?? no... by the time you add the heater/ setup and the kit to attach it to your press it will run close to that, but its just a guess at this point. 304 stainless isn't cheap and machining it wasn't either. The one in the video is most likely a one of a kind, my personal unit and a show piece. I don't for see anyone wanting an all stainless model like this. Our production units will be made from Aluminum with a removable stainless sleeve. Rapid reloads are essential for mass production and using a Slug.33 this large in the same way we use our smaller units is totally impractical. That being said, i am sure being all stainless and that large can have its advantages, not very many.
I will have a price on the 1 1/2 Slug in a week or so. Still working on some things. You will be able to get that one in two styles, all stainless, or aluminum with stainless sleeve like the Limax.
@Hogni I agree with what your saying but I think you may be missing the picture here a little bit. There are all kinds of aluminum options, we're not working with huge amounts of pressure. The Limax is fully Electric it only heats up once then it will remain at desired temperature all day. It can also be heated by gas in the event of heater replacement or repair. (Gas heating is a unique advantage) So, imagine a Slug.33 that stays at optimal temperature all day, takes 5 OUNCES of material with a single press, that can be reloaded immediately, now couple that with a lifetime maintenance free operation, its one time purchase. I have to also think that there will be some value in being able to press high volume efficiently and properly. Imagine a machine that can press two pounds of flower an hour.......thats the Slug.33 Limax.

i dont think he meant they pressed the flowers for 30 mins. just that it took 30 mins to get press to pressing temp. then pressed...?

Shiny metals are hard to get IR readings on unless you know to put a black line on it with a fat tip marker.
I read that some where and it does work for my 710Snob press plates.
use a black piece of paper or dark as possible wrap it tightly around slug and you're golden. it should only under 200 f

You can always get cheap multimeter with thermocouple 5-10$ ,does a great job,another option is putting an over thermometer or sticking bbq thermometer inside.
Another option that can mike the IR work ,if an laser etched black dot is added.. but that will only make the manufacturing process cost more.

@Nattybushdoctor any eta on the release of the electric 1-1/2oz slug and price point? Make up plugs into standard xlr 5 pin plug? Looking at personal rosin presses that was easy to transport to parties or friend’s houses.

Just a guess:
I assume anything beyond 1-1.5" ID and you would have to move beyond a drill bit on the milling machine and probably onto a CNC lathe capable of spinning maybe a 6-8" OD. Additionally, spinning a diameter of steel of that size and for a depth required to handle over an oz at a time would be pretty spendy. Orders of magnitude more. And fucking scary imo. Hate lathes.

I am surprised that Nattybushdoctor does not have a 5 gram slug in the works.
that way people would have ability to squish for 1 gm. at a time.
I just ordered a round pre-press from rosin evolution and its said to be made of stainless steel
to deal with 5~6 gram pucks for my big press.
I hope to do a side by side comparison in the near future here.
Also , I have friends (ya I know .. lol) that have asked me to ask Natty .. what do you do
with all your used pucks ? do you squish them in a larger press at some point ?
As they pile up , I plan to do that , and will report the yield from a few at a time
to see if its worth the extra time.
Time will tell.
Our next release is going to be our 1/2 oz unit. It will be available this fall. But I don't see how you would want to take it to peoples homes ect. unless they had the shop press to run it. We have a kit for that, its called the Masters Kit. It comes with everything you need, forever. Show up at a party with that..you'd be the man! Check it out at slug33.com

I'm looking to get a slug.33 for personal use.
My question is...does paying extra for the "Brilliant Polish" provide any benefit beyond aesthetics? Like, is it easier to clean oil off of it or something? The website clearly says "Yes it's absolutely unnecessary...", so I assume that answers my question. But I'd rather check with others who've used it than just assume.

The one gram comment was to indicate the yield , 5 grams yields an average of 1 gram return.
Thant is why I asked if you were thinking to produce the 5 gram unit.
Was mainly out of curiosity mostly cause I have a 5 ton press with 710Snob 3X5 plates & controller
as well as your slug33 I bought back in Sept 2017 (w/o the show case box).

@Nattybushdoctor You used the mill and made a cylinder of that depth with the linux? I've just never seen something that deep done on a mill. Maybe horizontal boring?

@Ramahs polish enhancing perfomance...? I guess if you really want to examine the minutest details having a smoother surface for the rosin to run could enhance performance. It does feel smoother in the hand. I love it. For 15.00 bucks right now..it hard to pass up.

At $15, I'd probably do it. Though, I'm I'm at least a few weeks away from the possibility of purchasing one of these. Sale will be over by then. Unfortunately, I probably won't do it at the regular price.

That s the one which is also pictured on the slug HP and included in the bundle / "Masters kit" - never tried it but looks nice and can do every "flow direction" (can be angled).

I got a Yost 445 and it works well with some larger plates I modded to my vise. Love it.
No matter what you use, you really cannot be too laissez faire or casual when using the Slug. This mother fucker is hot and must be handled with care, I definitely do not recommend for use over carpet or wood tables... It happens fast!
I am not sure I would shell out premium bucks on a vise. $50-60 will get you a really solid, square vise. I don't have much use, but I've had no issues with directional flow. It always runs down with gravity.
Don't spend too much on a vise, if you a a serious squishier, you can find a 10-ton shop press for about $100-200 through various sources.

Yea the forks can be slippery. we have discontinued those and replaced them with our new Hot Strap, total control. Slug33.com
