Yes but as @herbivore21 said it's not ideal since the new carb cap was optimized for the SiC Dish. Also it's huge compared to everything else on the market so most other caps won't seal properly around the edge. In the case of my SCS OmniCap, it actually fit inside the dish and got temporarily stuck.
Oh man, stuff getting stuck can cause many a freak out for even the most seasoned dabber lol

Yeah it's happened to me a few times now where it's been permanent, though luckily it's still workable in most cases. Main problem with the SiC Dish is that forcing it too much could cause it to break.

No worries bro, glad to help :D Yup the gen 2 is the best carb for SiC so far, I have two of them (one with threaded rod and one with flat dabber).

I have seen pressure flow 3d animation videos of the design and it really is quite impressive actually :D

Quartz will be at least a month away I believe. They're gonna be sweet!!!

Threaded rod is great, probably better since tastier dabs will be had off quartz or boro. Still, the flat dabber tool is handy for scraping dishes and such ;)

Dnail replied saying the quartz version "is still in development"

Damn.

Any Dnail coupon codes available right now? I tried Bubbleman's but it no longer works

Just found that the ideal temp for the sapphire insert and convection dabs seems to be 752f

Convection dabs provide a great balance of clouds and incredible flavor that puts my Mighty to shame. I really love the ritual of preparing your dab on the sapphire too, I just did a breakfast convection dab of half ACDC absolute shatter (with <.02% THCA/THC combined, yes, I made CBD shatter!) and half THC Bomb rosin.

Delicious flavor was had, instant lasting relief is now being enjoyed. :D

Seriously get the sapphire insert for this one guys. You all know I've been a fan of the sapphire before hand when used as a conductive surface, but it is so much better still when used convectively.

I love cleaning the sapphire too, I know you aren't really supposed to torch sapphire, but I find that torching my sapphire with the very soft, most distant end of the flame from the torch gets it looking brand new.

Convection dabs allow for you to remove and clean the sapphire without disassembling the nail/heater etc (my SiC dish stays almost spotless) as well! This is the quickest, simplest and most effective convective vaporizer cleaning I've ever experienced! This is going to be popular with dab clean freaks like me. I love the future of dabbing! :D

Ive only used an Herbalizer to vaporize dabs a few times but i much preferred the nail (maybe user error) but anyways i didn't experiment with it much. Whats your favorite difference about convection vs conductive dabs?

The taste is immeasurably better. It takes the flavor to yet another level beyond what you get dabbing on SiC even. Some strains lend themselves better to one or the other IME, but the majority of material I have is much better on sapphire and it really does keep the nail much cleaner. The insert is extremely easy to keep spotless for perfect dabs every time!

Awesome didn't know the sapphire would work at 752 gonna try it tonight
So what temp do you use to dab off the sic I can get as low as 550 also ordered fc-710 to preserve more flavor it's all about flavor

I generally run my SiC alone at 599f or so. It'll definitely work better than any other nail at 550f, but I hate even the slightest vapor trails after my hits so run mine a slight bit hotter.

I should highlight that 752f is only ideal for dabbing on sapphire when used with SiC as a convection ledge. This is way too hot on an Infiniti large dish or other ti when sapphire is a conductive surface instead!

You are so right that it is all about the flavor brother! I've been loving the minimal percolation offered by my Kevin Murray rig for tasty big hits on the SiC :D Happy dabbing to you!

I gave the sapphire a second chance after reading your posts and I think I prefer it now. Torching it with a soft flame in a circular motion seems to be working well so far, gets it cleaner and faster than the SiC. And the taste is great especially for low temp dabs (~750F), I don't really notice the taste going bad at the end of the hit as much as on the dish and I find them much more tolerable on the throat.

I'm thinking about picking up an enail dnail soon and have been browsing some threads.

I am a dabbing noob.
Currently use a nectar collector, but have a nice recycler on the way and may want to move away from butane.

What are the best options for nails?
My very limited research leans toward:

SiC w/ Sapphire as discussed in this thread.
HappyDaddy Genesis with Quartz insert looks trick: http://www.happydaddyproducts.net/product/genesis-system/
Micro Genesis looks nice too (my rig is a 10mm; although dropdown is also in the works): http://www.happydaddyproducts.net/product/genesis-micro/
Looks nice for torching: http://www.quartzcastle.net/#!price-list/c24pk
Pretty carb cap/dabber: http://dabfarm.bigcartel.com/product/ebosstm-xl-quartz-nail-carb-cap-dabber
Super expensive pukinbeagle quartz enail?

Anyway, I appreciate any insights or advice the collective may have.

For other nails, it may be better to browse through and post in the Next-Gen E-Nail thread since its focus is broader. I think only a few of us here have the SiC Dish and insert and those people swear by them so my opinion would be to just get that. Then you'll just need a flat coil and heater unit and you're good to go.

Yup, definitely not seen anyone who has used SiC and preferred something else (except SiC + Sapphire lol).

I wish that thing fit a decent nail body. I hate the HE Infiniti....... Maybe one of these days Happy Daddy or NewVape will come out with one.
I gotcha bro and would love to have no Ti involved too! It is coming ;)

D-nail have patents on SiC (I have this from one of the head honchos themselves) so I don't expect any other manufacturer to release SiC nails anytime soon. I do know that SiC nails in some of the most popular form factors (NO OTHER HINTS WILL BE GIVEN!) are well on the way from D-nail, alongside matching quartz carb caps :D

Other companies have shown interest in Silicon Nitride (which is used by Vapor Brothers) a similar ceramic to SiC. This could still be used by other companies looking to make truly next-gen nails ;)

Silicon nitride is not something I would suggest for use with a torch; oxidative degradation of SiN is bad news, and whilst SiN boasts some great thermal properties, they are definitely not as great as SiC, which matters when torches are involved! Ammonia is one of the substances released when SiN degrades due to heat.

However, electronically heated SiN nails, which I have not yet tried, could be every bit as good to dab on as SiC. SiC remains the only option for next-gen torch nails atm so for this, D-nail is the only retailer around.

Hope this helps everyone as we all start to get used to the new lay of the land for dabbing materials :)

nice time to be getting into the game.
I'm surprised they were able to get a patent on the basic material (SiC) used to make the nail.

sounds like a good option, thanks.

Glad to hear something better may be coming. I dont have anything against HE, I just dont like the heat retention of the Infiniti. Im sure thats due to the thin walls of the adapters and the rod that runs through the middle.

Anyone tried the torch version of the sic dish?
I use a my Sic nail with a torch sometimes I usually wait like a 1min 30sec before I put it on there I don't think the the rod or design of the of infiniti is gonna have any affect on heat retention of the nail anyways the dnail carb cap is a must buy for sic nail it's not the same without it

Definitely a good time to get into dabbing man :)

Oh man, you should see how vague and general the kinds of patents that the likes of Google and Apple sue each other over on a regular basis!

I know what you mean, but having used the infiniti with sapphire dish for a while before this one, I can tell you that the only negative I have ever run into is carbon build up inside the centre rod that I didn't realize was there due to forgetting to clean for a while, which made all my dabs taste generic and shitty. A clean solved this one ;)

Still, all SiC will be better I'm sure (almost all SiC anyway, can't have an SiC joint as if it is all SiC including the joint, you're gonna conduct MAJOR heat onto the you're gong joint!)! :D

BTW, I should mention that there are several other bases that you can use with the SiC dish, not just the Infiniti ;)

Anyone tried the torch version of the sic dish?
Not the torch only one, but I have used my SiC with torch a few times, it is possibly even more of a beneficial material for torching than enail use because SiC does seem to taste much nicer/smoother when you accidentally dab too hot :D

I can't get a grasp how the convection sapphire works. The sapphire is not in direct co tact with the heat. So confused.

Hey brother, basically the SiC dish has no thread on it itself to sit on top of the infiniti centre rod (for example, there are other options), instead it sits over the rod and a ti nut (provided with the dish) screws into the top of the centre rod, holding the infiniti in place.

This ti retaining nut does not conduct much heat, and it is this that the sapphire insert sits on top of. SiC is an incredible heat conductor, such an even surface to dab on temp distribution wise and when carbed with a sapphire insert inside at high enough temps, the air drawn in through the carb cap spirals through the newly created chamber, heating the contents very evenly with convective heat. There is some conduction and radiation going on here too but very little (much less than a sublimator for example). ;)

I believe @herbivore21 uses it a bit differently than me and loads the oiled up insert right before he dabs it, I just leave it on the nail all the time. The insert rests above the surface of the SiC dish but below the top edge so the heat emanating from the dish heats up the insert indirectly kinda like a double-boiler. I think it's partly why the end of the dab is smoother since the sapphire doesn't reheat as quickly compared to the dish which is in direct contact with the coil. And with the carb cap on you get convection airflow travelling under and over the insert which should do a good job of circulating the hot air inside.

SiC Dish landed! No carb cap tho unfortunately.. supposedly now they are on backorder ? They said i should have it soon, but excited to test out the SiC Dish alone anyways. Enail landed also so time to take some super slabs!!!!:leaf: :smug::leaf:

Edit: i really need that carb cap asap..

Still no shipment from dnail  They had said it should be shipped by now

Anyways i purchased the v2 carbcap with ball point dabber. Should i use the ball point or should i pick up a glass or quartz dabber for best flavor?

I too am waiting on the dnail carb cap. Had one of THESE laying around that fit the dish perfectly so at least I have something to use while waiting. Definitely need the carb cap for best results
