Silicone Carbide/Titanium hybrid nails

So with 4/20 around the corner, I'm thinking of doing a little early X-Mas shopping for myself. One thing I keep coming back to is a new nail.

Right now I have an RDK-200 with a flat toil and universal titanium nail. I've been considering the D-Nail SiC HALO, but today I ran across Thick Ass Glass' SiC dish for WAY less: https://www.thickassglass.com/products/tag-replacement-domeless-silicon-carbide-dish

Is the D-Nail worth the giant price gap? As it stands right now the D-Nail setup I want is $180 vs TAG at $72.50.

Yes, the TAG is very small and a major compromise in functionality IMO. D-nail invented the idea (also hold the patent!), they paid for the R&D, they have the clearly better product. TAG blatantly plagiarized their product, made an inferior knock off for less money. There is no reasonable comparison here. The cheaper product exploits and shamelessly steals the more expensive product's R&D and design and provides disadvantages, not advantages compared to the original.

If you ever do even moderate sized dabs, from a purely functional standpoint, the TAG is going to be a PITA due to considerably reduced surface area. Others have spoken to that effect here and elsewhere on FC. The TAG nail does not get countless rave reviews like the SiC halo. Spend good money on a good product IMO.

My SiC halo is still going after 3-4 years and is still my best SiC nail (I also have a SiC liger btw!)

The differences are of these two are highlighted on the 3rd or 4th page of this thread when I was doubting the D-nail SiC Halo was much better than the TAG version. After some very thorough explanations I have found myself eager to upgrade to the D-Nail SIC Halo. The only thing stopping me...is their sale does not start until 4/20. Check out their facebook page or the 420 sales for more info on the 20% discount they are having.

Just checked the Dnail site they sure do have a 20% off sale.

BUT, they mysteriously marked the SIC nail up 10 %!

Technically they had it on sale for $80 with a retail price of $100. They had it this way last night still. This morning they took it off sale and dropped the retail price to $88 it appears but its still a heck of a deal.

I bought mine this morning!

Im about to buy the high five hybrid nail with the sic insert. I already have the high five box and 20 mm coil. I know its not as high a quality product as the d-nail or liger, but I am getting a good price on a new one and wanted any opinions about it. Thanks.

Curious what price you are getting and where from? I've been looking for a good hybrid Ti/quartz option with possibility of adding SiC later ... just really getting started with concentrates and am still figuring out what I like for setups ...

Edit: whoops ... this thread was specifically about the SiC/Ti hybrid and what I linked above is a Ti/Quartz and I'm not sure if they have a SiC option available ... I'll look into it though ...

So how did you make out? You rocking a SiC setup?

NewVape has an almost if not identical SiC dish to d-nails. Also d-nail halos will fit in their flat coil, and 20mm barrel coil enail setups. An I'm pretty sure the VROD carb cap will fit dnails SiC dish. Because it fits my newvape dish just fine by the way. An the VROD dabber carb cap is only $40. Just a fyi.
