You do not need nugs to make shatter. You can use trim it just yields less. The three lighter ones here I made from fresh (lightly dried) trim of three different strains. The dark one is from well cured nugs. The one thing I noticed was the trim hash was more waxy and you can see the one on the top left I had trouble separating it so it is a little cloudy.

I can indeed confirm that top shelf shatter needn't use whole nugs, trim is fine. In fact, anything except ABV/decarbed buds- can give you great shatter, I have made great clear shatter on 3rd runs. It is all about controlling several variables.

I regularly make delicious reclaim shatter too, just as good as the original. Reclaim is great, you do get out what you put in though!

Sure, put ISO onto things with shatter to reclaim, put solution into evap rig, purge ISO, scrape shatter.

I consistently get rock hard shatter every time. It seems that only decarbed flowers cannot make shatter, IME shatter that has been vaped readily makes shatter again :)

I wonder if its the everclear leaving my reclaim a little bendy.... ive got second run iso from butane extracted nugs winterizing... we will see how that does.... if its the iso purging cleaner than eth... well iso is cheaper anyway.

could havr just been unstable temps at vacuum too that was issue with my last batch. I use reclaim to "experiment" I rrally dont like the uneven effects it gives when revaped. personal choice.

lemon kush... pre jar cure larf fluff, soak method for about 2 min, eveything frozen, capital butane, vac purged

id vac the cloudyness out but why hurt the taste... citrus is so delicate. ill just enjoy the wax. I didnt winterize.

2clicker, do you use everclear to reclaim? I would imagine this would take a lot longer and would not clean stubborn build ups? Also if prices are anything like here that would be so pricey!

i do use it to reclaim, but only on my solo stems really. i plug them, fill them, and then they soak for days or even weeks. my water tools get rinsed nightly so reclaim does not really build up.

regarding the price of EC... im lucky on that front. its distilled only a couple miles from my house. so i can get a reg bottle for about $15.

Ethanol is absolutely indispensible for me for tidying up extracts, I get ISO very cheap, but the less aggressive nature of ethanol really comes in handy :) even if it does cost 12 times as much or so lol

All the beautiful pics here motivated me to drag myself out of the house and check out the new dispensary for some dbho and shatter. This Obama kush is certainly working better than pharma drugs. and the budtender is a lot nicer than my oral surgeon. Thanks for the inspiration!

Just made a run on some new Rumpwax Chemdawg. Funny thing I was giving the manager a hard time saying he should put the good wax on sale. He looked at me and said it's $10 off today. The bewildered stonygirl budtender that was ringing me up said nobody told her about any sale, and she had been charging full price all day.

The manager winked at us and I smiled, but the eyecandy budtender missed the signal and complains she doesn't have a sale code for the register. I relieved her fluster by asking for a free ten buck edible from PhilRx. Really good gummis made from hash. The dispensary usually sells their shatter-based edibles, and brags about how Phillips won a High Times award. I remind them the award was for hash not shatter, so the manager was happy to show me the hash candy and stop me from busting his balls about it.
