In the spirit of the Days Between, I wonder if anyone who contributes to or follows this thread would be interested in having a Movie Night? We could vote on a show, and then find it on youtube, and rock out “together” while we partake of our vape pastime. It might be difficult to coordinate a date/time among us, but let’s see what people here think.

Btw, the Duke show I posted in the last message could be a good candidate, and there are many others as well. Any thoughts?

Another best show candidate today with an astonishing Eyes of the World:
Phil is on FIRE!

PS: also the day Senate Republicans fired Nixon (Bobby's news).

Charlie Miller broke out this 1:38 Dark Star into its own track. Sounds silly until you hear it:
Bruce really loves DS! I caught the Chicago show from this tour, and he tried to get it going there too but the band wasn’t having it.

I wish Jerry would have been in a better place. Bruce really wanted to play and Jerry seemed less and less interested. What was played was usually fantastic, but can you imagine them in a 1990-like headspace?

Maybe not the best show ever, but there was a humdinger TIGDH 1980! As is typical, the SBD sound quality improves after a few songs (photo is from 8/23/80).

https://www.reddit.com/r/livesound/comments/wx3vke The Wall of Sound acted as its own monitoring system, and it was therefore assembled behind the band so the members could hear exactly what their audience was hearing. Because of this, Stanley and Alembic designed a special microphone system to prevent feedback. This placed matched pairs of condenser microphones spaced 60 mm apart and wired in reverse polarity from each other. The vocalist sang into the top microphone, and the lower mic picked up whatever other sound was present in the stage environment. The signals were added together using a differential summing amp so that the sound common to both mics (the sound from the Wall) was canceled, and only the vocals were amplified.

Jerry didn't play slide guitar on many live songs, but this is a master class.

First show, from Charlie, not the box:
I finally had the opportunity to open my new box and listened to the 4/6/78 show last night. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it throughout! Looking forward to hearing the rest of the shows…

Dark Star Orchestra at Alexandra Palace in London last night (seeing them again there tonight as well) ✌️
I was at the second show, too, during my recent visit to London! It was great to see DSO at the Ally Pally after all these years of listening to DP7. I only wish I had gone as well to the first night where they recreated the 9/10/74 GD show, much of which is on that DP release…….. Lucky you for being there for that one!
