Anyone using a sic bucket? Back a few posts someone mentioned a source sic bucket would fit the sai. But I haven't heard or read about anyone who tried it.

Any info on this? I think I read this but I can't find the post or anyone using it...I'm tarded!

Any consensus on the best mod for the Sai?

Anything from a cheap Pico to a DnaC mod will work great.

I'm using a pico 75w from puffitup and it works great. I'm currently using the ceramic donuts in it at 16w. The battery lasts me a long time. But when I used buckets at 40w the sai got hotter faster and the battery didn't last all that long. But it still worked great, and I ended up getting a heat sink for it and eventually settled on using the donuts and didn't really need a heat sink.

So if you plan on running it at 40w or higher, I'd look for a 2-3 battery mod. And a heat sink.

How often do you clean your ti bucket and what does it look like before and after? I can’t take pics of mine but I’m wondering if I’m running mine too hot and or cleaning it too often. I’ll post pics tomorrow.

How often do you clean your ti bucket

All the bucket needs is a Q-tip rubbed in it, no iso, no water, just wipe it out after you've loaded 1-2 dabs into the bucket.

I've said this maybe 3 or 4 times now in this thread, just because the bucket is large, doesn't mean you fill it up !

As I've said, load 1-2 dab hits into your bucket, vape until pretty much gone, then, after heating the bucket with no load, wipe it out with a q-tip, it'll be completely clean.

For any carbon buildup, u can use 1 small drop of water. Boil it in bucket (with mod) then scrape it off with tool. I don't personally have a need to do this, as I don't overload the bucket, nor vape the oil until it's crispy.

I suppose, if you went a very long time without cleaning (yuck), it may be more difficult to remove.
If you're trying to empty a bucket full of reclaim, though, a q-tip wont work.

Please, try to read what I'm sharing with the thread, for best results with your Sai TAF.

I ordered the Sequoia and now wonder if I should have ordered the Sai. The reason I’m wondering is that there have been some reports of issues with the size titanium dish when using the Sequoia. I’m not sure about the others like the coils, ceramic, and quartz buckets.

Any thoughts on this? I’m probably going to use it with the Voopoo drag 2 or the Joyetech mod.

PRO TIP !!

If your O-rings are getting tight, it's becoming hard to remove the top,
First, remember NOT to soak these O-rings in isopropyl alcohol (ISO) !!
Clean them up with a small bit of ISO then dry.
Gertting too sticky ?

Apply a small amount of unflavored pure vegetable glycerine !!

Works wonders, the cap just easily comes on and off now.
Only use a TINY amount.

:)

As it turns out I’m happy with the Sequoia. It’s great. I followed the recommended settings and it’s working just fine. I’m not having any pooling issues with the quartz bucket. I try to keep it level when I hit it. So I just bend my neck down a bit.

My Ti bucket won’t unscrew from the donut atty underneath. So i soaked it overnight upside down in Iso, just enough to cover the rim of the bucket.

in the morning i removed it from the Iso and let it dry for a few hous. it appeared dry, so I tried firing it up—only to discover it was permeated with Essence of Iso that wouldn’t burn off. Yuck!

So I tried firing it up with a few drops of distilled water to help “rinse” it. No joy.

So I think what may have happened is, there must be ISO trapped between the bucket and the donut. And they are still stuck together.

also, I bought a heat sink from POTV, And now it is irretrievably stuck to the base of the Sai. soaking in ISO didn’t help this either.

Does anybody have any solutions for stuck metal parts?

I have a feeling I’m gonna Have to replace the whole bucket assembly, but at this point, I got a bunch of ceramic donuts and they taste better anyway.

I don’t know if it’s like the sequoias coils but you should be able to use a dime or a penny in the two slots and use that turn. I ruined about three perfectly good atomizer’s before I realize this. HVT’s coils last a long time for me.

Actually I did try that but it didn’t work. These suckers are permanently stuck together.

If it doesn't have slots as mentioned above, then try putting it in a plastic sealed bag and the put it in the freezer for an hour, then try to undo it and don't for get lefty losey righty tighty.

hope this helps

Funny I was suggesting the opposite, to heat it up and try to remove it. If its resin causing it to stick heat will help.

@OyVape Ageed on the donuts. I went back and hacked through a dab today with the ti bucket, just to give it another go. But I have a donut on it now. Btw I'm using it at 27w and 300F currently with the donuts and like it there. It heats fairly fast and gives tasty hit after tasty hit.

I agree with the heating if it was gummed up, but rereading OyVape's post it makes me think that its more a galvanic reaction between the ss/ti and soaking in ISO, if thats the case then its time for a new coil.

Also heat expands and cold contracts and if it was just gunk the heating should have freed it off,
I'm not trying to teach you how to suck eggs but I've been freeing stuck nuts and bolts for way too long :)

Actually so have I, lol. I'm retired now, but for 30 years I did maintainence on very large equipment. I had a millwright card with welding and electrical qualifications. So ya, I freed some nuts as well.

@surfer. What is a galvanic reaction?

If it's something about the SS/Ti combination, that might explain why my Ti Sai is stuck to the SS heat sink?

This explains it better than I can... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_corrosion

And they call it corrosion not reaction like I did, if your hands were sweaty it could have cased it and soaking it over night in ISO probably finished it off. If that is the problem, Ive not had any problems with mine but I live in a house that the temp never seems to fall below 25C, my heating bill is :o (I live in the north of uk)

Thanks @surfer..I actually looked it up on Wikipedia. My hands were definitely not sweaty though. And it appears that the atty may still work.At least It doesn't reek of alcohol any more.

But the heat sink is still stuck to the titanium assembly. It doesn't seem to affect any function, but I was under the impression that it's better to leave it attached to the mod for the sake of the 510 connection.

If you get a mechanical advantage with pliers with rubber in the jaws, to protect the vape or even a silicone pad in your hands to give you more grip, it might be enough. If you use pliers, try them on the less expensive heat sink. Best of luck.

I've done a lot of reading on these forums over the years and have run a lot of different EGO style pens. I'm now running a Pico 75W + SAI Ti bucket TAF. I've been using this setup for about a year or so. Roughly 4 months ago I installed Arctic Fox + SAI TAF profile and it's night and day. Huge clouds on low heat, 37 watts @ 260 degrees using Raw Garden concentrates. I just bought the poseidon v2 for a little upgrade.

For cleaning I usually just use a dry q-tip and heat the bucket a bit. If there is any minor carbon build up I'll add a single drop of water, boil it in the bucket and scrub out with a q-tip. I'll run the hot q-tip around the o-rings to clean them off as well. A little coconut oil on the rings to keep them from breaking down as quickly and easier to get the top off, plus cleans off any extra reclaim.

Every so often (since I have a tendency to over fill the bucket) I'll take the whole thing apart, set o-rings aside, put into a glass container with ISO, putting that container into another container of hot water to heat the ISO and break down the residue. Q-tip/toothpick to get everything nice and clean. I'll let it dry for a few hours, then run a hot hair dryer over it, then back on the Pico and fire it a few times to get rid of any ISO residue. A little anal I know.

A little more info. I have 4 batteries, Samsung 25R (came with my Pico), Sony VTC5A, Sony VTC6, and LG HG2 (all from Liion Wholesale). With my settings the batts last the evening (between wife and I) and then some, so I am swapping daily. I mainy use the LG and VTC6 due to the 3000 mAh. Great batteries.

I am using the Nitecore D2 charger.
