Just wondering if anyone out there has had their rosin lab tested? Would be very interested to see if it's been done. hopefully one of you more knowledgable people will know if and where it's been done

High5Vape finally posted a real video of their pressing plates in action. Seems legit, plates are mounted onto an Arbor press. I'm curious what they're using for heating.

I don't have time to go digging but a quick google search for "rosin lab test" gave a ton of results. Pretty sure it's been tested since the beginning of the craze.

New squish video.
This is .53g pressed for about a min (I should do 2 shorter presses instead) at 225f, .11g back in the first press and the nug was still gooey with rosin.

Damn 21% yield! Nice :tup:

Any idea what % thc that bud is? Gotta be some pretty good stuff because even a 21% yield with bho is pretty good :brow:

Yay finally! The press will be here soon!

Batch One will begin shipping to customers for pre-order fulfillment no later than Monday, Oct 19th.

My b day is less than 2 weeks after that so this will be a very nice present :D

butane is a solvent with a specific polarity attraction. rosin is a thermal pressure extraction... so where you may be leaving some constituent behind with butane rosin collects everything that will migrate with the set temp and pressure.

the reason butane extractors focus on thc content is because that what your using butane to target... because of its solvent polarity.

@Joel W. nice video!

love seeing this! cant wait to try it!!!

this may have been discussed early in this thread, but what is the best way to collect off the parchment? does a quick "fold n peel" work well or is it best to scrape it off with some sort of tool?

what is the best way to collect off the parchment?

I just let it cool down a little and I scrape lightly with a dabber on a cool surface.

I notice if I let it sit in the parchment for a few days it acts like shatter and it will jump off the paper and end up on the back of my hands or on the table.

I try not to work the paper too hard.

Edit: I don't let the dabber even touch the paper when I say scrape, I only touch rosin. Once the dabber is loaded up, its rosin scraping rosin

I like to fold and peel, but I some times use a tool. I suggest a ball point dabber to prevent scraping up the paper and to also prevent flinging. used a skillet tools flexy a few times and it was like a rosin catapult. nothing like flining dabs at the wall.

Great video, love seeing it squish out of the bud.

Rosin stamps or basically round glass pendants seem to be the easiest way at least for large batches.

wa wa wa... went to press aaaand... heaters wont pass 120f. great. guess its time for a new heaters for the vise.

@Monsoon I had never heard of rosin stamps before. seems like another random heady way to handle stuff... what do you do just scrape the rosin onto the glass? I guess then at least if it was sticky stuff you could just rub the stamp on your nail to clean it off.

Rub it over rosin, it's not sharp and scraping like metal tools. I'm with the rest, I just poke at a large puddle of rosin and then rub the rosin piece over the rest and it all sticks to itself instead of scraping parchment.

I think the smooth, curved edge is the benefit here, just hold it like a coin or eraser and start scrapping back and forth.

i have a pendy i will pull out and try it out next time i get pressing...

on that note, I pulled out the gecko sublimation press and decided to have a look at it guts. the heater head is just a big chunk of metal with two cartridge heaters mounted in it... im guessing 300w each since its a 600watt unit. the temp actually goes down to 212f so I may see if I can figure a way to split this block in two.... but I dont think im equipped for that. then I can mount a vice where the swing arm and pedestal is and use the digital controller and temp sensor... on a vise press.

The heaters are 4 3/4" long x 3/8" diameter... maybe its time for some cuni plates @Joel W.

@farscaper and @Joel W. , I see some mad :science: coming up, hehe.
yea I ran into a problem with my plan...

the temp sensor isnt long enough to reach out where I could mount it properly... and there is only the 1 sensor so id have to pick a side to mount it at best.

I considered just clamping it in the jaws to read but it wouldnt be in contact during pressing which is gonna cause the controller to increase temp to compensate... fuck..

so the only thing I think I can do would be rewire the whole cable so the sensor has longer leads so I can mount it behind one heater... fucking trial and error I hate it.

I suppose I could scrap the digi control and just go strait to an analog dimmer switch... but im not sure what the load requirements are for these heaters... yhe electronics inside convert the power into DC for the heaters and such....

and im out of rosin and have a new W9 AC cart on the way so I need to work this out asap... I may do another temporary hair iron mod until I can sort out my temp sensor issues...

I hate time tables and adherence.

I hear you, I got a quote on 2" round bar and it's $215 a foot.. :rolleyes:

I wish I would have tried harder in school.

Speaking of trial in error, someone should try removing their stock vise/vice jaws, drilling them out for soldering irons and flip them around so the smooth side faces in.

I honestly do not know how to spell vise? Or is it vice? Fuck. Lol..

Visce. Done.

oh man I know where that ideas going though. with a 2" clamp on thermocouple heater around the outside!

vise is what were talking about. vice is what were making lol.

tool = vise
rosin = vice
