holy mole the presses are getting super sexy over here! loving it!

@Joel W. we got 20sackzack representing your plates over at ICMAG. his press looks great!

i've almost got my press fully assembled! just waiting on the heated platens from @timewizard_greyfox. this thing is gonna increase my efficiency 10 fold!

it's a 10 ton hydraulic jack on an H-frame shop press. the stickers came off super cleanly, i think i'm gonna get some sign painter's enamel and do some hand lettering and pinstriping :D

i'm thinking "cake by the lb" in hot pink with white outlines across the top bar

it has a pressure gauge---this thing is gonna help me dial in to a razor edge.

gotta keep reppin @sunfire_ranch. i borrowed his pre-press die idea and got one made for my plates on order.

here's 15g after pre-pressing. took me a couple minutes to prep over a half oz of trim.

also i think it's REALLY pretty. this is my LUIG13 no. 5 trim. i'd wear this pattern. i'd put it on my furniture. i'd print business cards on it.

and just for @herbivore21 a really gorgeous batch of sieved 90u bubble i made last week :brow: this is NOT for rosin people! full melt should be enjoyed as hash IMO. i DID press the 73--25u, tho---so fun!

Preach it brother! Full melt is not for squishing! Dabbing full melt as is >>>>>> rosin of any quality IMO!

Looks delicious sir!

Wow! These "Rosin rigs" are getting crazy. Here is my little set up using my @Joel W. plates. I decided to mount my vise vertically.

Also being the family man I am, I can't have my rig sitting out in the open so I had to find a way to hide it.:ninja:

The beginning of the video is fucking hilarious! That must have took some time. Well done :clap:

Holy shit soon as I saw the boxes I remembered that Spongebob episode where he had to clean Squidward's closet and all he did was tear down the picture of a dirty closet, I laughed so hard as soon as you pulled the boxes back :rofl::rofl:

@VAPEHUNTER you my friend, are a star!
As others have said GENIUS :rofl:

Thanks guys, I'm glad you all find it as funny as me. My original idea was to just hang a sheet but it didn't really make it as stealthy as I like. Wasn't sure how the boxes would turn out and it was kinda more of a goof that I didn't think would work but after I finished putting it together and putting it all in place I just sat in my garage getting vaped and giggling my ass off like a madman. A little patience and a lot of double sided tape and spray adhesive is all it takes.

Bahahaha @VAPEHUNTER only a small group of people will find the true hilarity of this. Love your ingenuity though with flipping your vice vertical and everything.

Hot damn there are some sexy looking custom presses getting posted. Mine isn't quite as nice and beefy as some on here but it was only around $260 in total.

Loving it so far

Love the pattern and color on the of that pre-press slab. So purdy.

I'm wondering if u have gotten a chance to run the plates u already have on your new dake? Or is really a bad idea applying 10 tons of pressure without the top plate being secured to the ram?

Do u expect ur pre-pressed slab to stretch further once full pressure is applied during extraction? Would it be wise to go with a smaller pre press, maybe 2.5x2.5, for a for final heated plate size of 3x3. I'm sure I will find the answers on my own after experimenting, but it would easier to know so I can order the proper size plates for my pre-press.

Thanks a million.

Hay guys,I have been reading through this and not sure if it has been brought up maybe i missed it.Sorry if that is the case.If i use the method of a hair straightener and irwin clamp what temp is normally used for this method and how many seconds?I saw a video where a guy was pressing using this method and he says 220 for 20 or 30 sec.Not sure if i should go his method because he looked like a nerdy grizzly adams.

i had some new steel bricks cut to use while i wait for the heated platens. they're 3x5 for 15 square inches!

i got my die made so the inner dimentions were 0.5" smaller than the plates like your example, but sunfire's is 1".

@joe0508 If you're not willing to trust a nerdy grizzly adams look alike why trust us? We aren't even using our real names. (@OF)

Each strain is a little different and will require different temps and different times. If your oil is pooling outside of the heated plates you can press for as long as you like.

I have an Irwin clamp with heater plates attached to the jaws. The strain I have at the moment likes 130c for about 15 seconds. I'm getting around 15% return.

You have 3 variables - heat, pressure and time. When you decrease one you need to increase another. Play around with it and see what works best. Maybe start as low as your straightener goes and work up from there.

When I started squishing I recorded everything and used my data to guide me.

Thanks that helps a lot.Do you think if I opened the straightener up and filled it with epoxy if it would help to get more pressure on it without it busting and will the epoxy hurt the control board inside? Also if I should use my chips to make some qwiso should I freeze them first?

That's pretty hilarious/awesome. Obviously I don't know what kind of situation you're in but I must say to me these rosin press rigs don't particularly look 'suspicious' when just out in the open in a garage/tool-bench environment. But I understand some people need to take extra precautions than others.

Loving the ingenuity on this thread!

Hello friends and fellow squishers! So I have noticed that when I use my 2x2 plates from @Joel W. that my rosin runs completely away from under the plates. It allows me to press for basically as long as I want without harming my deliciousness. Now I recently also purchased a set of 3x5 plates, and I have noticed that not all the rosin escapes from underneath when I squish. Do I need to just increase my pressure? Or is this a trait for the bigger plates. My hunch is its a combo of pressure and how im folding my coffee filter around my material. All help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!

Thanks mate, that helps. I'm wondering if you have tried more than 1 gram per sq in? Checking out some instagrams feeds earlier today and cats going as high as 2 grams per sq in. And getting back 20%. But I'm thinking they are probably rocking at least 1 ton of pressure per sq in.

Still waiting for my press, will eventually post results.
