Rene Auberjonois, the actor who played "Odo " on Star Trek DS9 has died. Also was on Bensen. RIP.
I have started bingeing Boston Legal and, when I read the news this morning, he was on the screen. Terrible coincidence. He played many parts but he was incredible as Odo. Without him, DS9 would have been boring. With him, it might have been the best of the Star Trek integrations.

RIP OG Big Bird and Oscar the grouch, Caroll Spinney. He lived about 10 minutes from me and was a incredibly nice man. We would see him often in town and he would always surprise kids with a Sesame Street character voice and a drawing. His grounds keeper murdered a local woman a few years back and put her body in Carolls house in a closet. I saw Caroll about 8 months after that and it looked like the stress of that must have really beat him down. He looked old and sickly after that.

RIP Big Bird. RIP Oscar. RIP Caroll. Thank you for creating characters that showed kids a better way of looking at life.

Christopher Tolkien dead: Son of Lord of the Rings author JRR dies aged 95
Christopher Tolkien, the son of Lord Of The Rings author JRR Tolkien, has died aged 95, the Tolkien Society has said.

Christopher continued his father's work after his death and was an accomplished author in his own right.

He has been credited with keeping his father's legacy alive and spawning the field of 'Tolkien studies'. Without him readers enraptured by the stories of Middle Earth may not have had any more than the four novels from JRR to enjoy.

^ Saw a wonderful PBS tribute to Jim yesterday with Robin MacNeil, SCOTUS Justice Steven Breyer (his longtime friend), the lady who he chose to take over production of the PBS News Hour when he retired & the PBS Anchor who worked with him.

It's about 1/2 hour. Well worth watching to remember what a true journalist is. The moderated more presidential debates than anyone else.

Just feels crazy. Way too young.
I'm loosely connected as I used to coach girls in high school that were friends of the future Ms. Bryant. He was already famous as a player and he was going out with a high school girl--who he's stayed with (and, vice versa) until his death. It was said he was "nice" by his future wife's friends.

OMG ! I was at the very first Laker game that he played in. He was just a kid fresh out of high school. When he took the court, I was like, "Who is this Kobe Bryant?" He was still living with his parents at the time.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and have been a Laker fan forever. Used to go to at least 3 games a month for years.

Sooo sad. And his daughters........they were all so close.
