Discontinued RBT Splinter (All Versions)

Thanks fuckcombustion.com for providing a place to hide out and take and idea into its best possible incarnation with a group of close friends. The exert input early in the design process enabled the rapid evolution of the RBT technology and that spirit of customer involvement still exists today. Many thanks and much respect to both the old and new staff especially those two old salty dogs Pak and Stu for making this bold move to keep the community alive in a new and improved way.

Splinter(Z) took the Milaana heater and adapted it to a 510 fitting. This was done to leverage the power electronics of the mod box to create a simple, cost effective vaporizer capable of keeping pace with the big boys. The Splinter(Z) took RBT into the world of Ceramics with the filing of a provisional patent for the ceramic positive terminal insulator (typically it is plastic) and heater insulator ensuring a save vapor path. For now, the Splinter design progression will end with the V2 as RBT will table the 19 mm designs with the new designs on the way (Seed, ZapCap, ZipZap…)

Please stay positive on the RBT threads and address any business related concerns to ryan@rastabuddhatao.com as this thread is for sharing user experiences and will not be used to address customer service issues. Please learn the rules and follow them and help make the moderators job easy. These people give their own valuable time out of love for this community and their job CAN be very time consuming. They deserve for us all to act with love and respect and be on our best behavior as payment for giving us this gift of fcombustion.com.

FC History links till they gone :)

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
Whooop! Just need someone to make one big post here on this first page about all the top mod options and all the firmware options and all the basic set up and usage tips for the Splinter and Z!

I'll start it off with full product line details:

SplinterOG (original pre-order handmade design, first was 19/22 then switched over to custom 19/19 ground glass)

SplinterV1 (original mass-produced made in China model using bubinga wood and 19/19 glass)

SplinterV1+ (same thing except it now uses a ceramic plate instead of mica in the heater, heater itself is still stainless steel, this insulator plate holds it up)

SplinterV2 (same thing except it comes in blackwood instead of bubinga, with smoked glass instead of clear)

Splinter Z (using the larger Zion heater instead of the Milaana heater used in regular Splinters, these are also known as US Customs, handmade by RBT in small batches with mica insulator plate and standard 19/22 size thick clear German glass, they come in 4 exotic woods: purpleheart, canarywood, bubinga, wenge)

SplinterZV1 (using the Z heater, but mass-produced in China, with ceramic insulator plate, bubinga wood and 19/22 clear glass)

SplinterZV2 (same thing except in blackwood with smoked glass)

Key difference is between the Splinter and SplinterZ would be that the smaller Splinter heater could be a bit quicker to heat up, while the larger Z heater is a bit more capable (keeping up with a larger draw, handling more power, though let's be clear: they are both extremely capable!)

All of these are designed to use in regular power mode, using straight wattage in most any ecig mod box (most use same 18650 batteries as Milaana and Zion -- LG HE4/HG2 Samsung 25R/30Q) so there is nothing really to set up, just attach the Splinter, set wattage, load herb, and fire.

Most popular options include:

Wismec Reuleaux RXgen3Dual (G3D)

Wismec Sinuous P80 / Ravage

Wismec Reuleaux RX250 DNA

LostVape Paranormal / Triade / Drone DNA

Most of these will work with custom firmware, which will allow you to adjust the auto shut off timer among other extra features (such as configuring temp control, further detailed below). Custom firmware options include:

TuboMyEvic (developed by lamart for their mod-based vapes, has a lot of nice features)

SurMyEvic (developed for e-cig use by someone else based off the same underlying interface, similar yet different)

ArcticFox (allows you to set up even more features, through the computer with profiles)

For temp control, this is not really supported for Splinters, as I mentioned they are meant to be used in wattage. However it can be set up safely, with a locked cold resistance (which should be about .25Ω for Splinter and .41Ω for Z, though this can vary) and using TCR value. You will have to rely on trial and error, to figure out what TCR value will give you the right temperature for you, ie if 380F feels like 380F for your usage style.

Some of the other mods listed above use DNA chips, which can offer further precision, though it is not especially necessary for our use. one nice thing about these chips though, is that another member created custom FC profiles for using the Splinter/Z in TC already configured.

Another thing that the other mods offer with the custom firmware however, is the ability to use cruise or autofire, so you do not have to hold down the trigger during your hit (note this is especially not supported as it can be risky, if you accidentally leave it on, in wattage mode or improperly configured temp control).

So these are all things to keep in mind when considering temp control and customizing your mod. However using the Splinter itself is very simple with any mod in power mode, just adjusting the wattage as intended.

For Splinter try a range of 25-40 watts, and 30-45 watts for the Z. Follow instructions, other tips, and take your time getting to know this powerful, efficient, pure tasting, and effective work of art!

To take a moment to take a trip down memory lane and help facilitate archiving the best parts of the old threads RBT is having a contest... details are on IG for now unil the Contest page gets set up here. It's pretty simple in that it is a cut and past from old FC to New FC of something funny, memorable, milestone, accolade, criticism, tech tip, wood porn or nerd candy and post it here and you will be entered to will a Milaana 3. Drawing in 6/13 live IG.

If anyone can catch the IG published stream that's currently up, do watch it. Ryan unveiled the prototype for the new Splinter V2. It's blackwood with a smoke black short stem & he alluded to a little something new added to the heater, but I'm not sure he's ever gonna tell. The black is real sharp! He also got long & short (stock) cooling stems in as well as regular short stems. But he's gonna continue to make the XL8r long & short stems himself. They are 2.4mm(?) thicker than the stock cooling stems. As mfr'ing is shutting down for the Chinese New Year, I don't think these are gonna be available for at least a couple of months.

He's expanding his distribution -- the new additions being sneakypete, vaposhop (new?), hooking up with several Aussie retailers.

Ryan looks really good. He's relaxed & happy.

Announcement of Splinter V2, black with dark stems. That was an exciting time for me haha, and I ended up with a Zv2 eventually. Beautiful vapes. Hope this counts as my entry for Mi3 🤞

I have the link in my signature as well. If anyone has any other Splinter/Splinter Z profiles for non DNA mods send me a PM and I'll add them to that link.

I need to pull my Z out, my Milaanas have been getting all the love lately.

New FC rules state No selling or soliciting items on the forum.
I assume that doesn't apply to links to things that are for sale. Like a link to RBT's store in this thread, or to a dhgate piece in a glass thread. Right?

It's been a while since my last VAS attack but I haven't been using my session vapes very much lately and seem to prefer the on demand experience a lot more now. All my flower on demand vaporizers are butain powered and although I invested in an induction heater for my trusty Dynavaps I still want something different and maybe with a bit more adjustable heat control. After a few days of research the Splinter seems to be the winner for me, (compared to the TM/GH). Looks like the best deal I can find is on a V1+. Planning on ordering it tomorrow. Time to go back to the old FC and read the last 20 or 30 pages of Splinter postings.......

NFC looks great ! ! ! Good Work Pakalolo & Stu

Just gotten a dna75 mod with the mail.
Which file should I install/recommended out of the mediafire files

MediaFire

I have been using a mod with a noname chinese board till now. I tried both watt and tc modes, till now i have had to set to 47watt and 430f, I prefer to have one settings only, hence the relatively high temp.

Hey all.... Sorry for the delay in kicking off the New Fuck Combustion Grand Opening Sale. The store will open back up again tonight at midnight EST and the sale will run through midnight 5/24. The code for the sale is hidden in the signature below as to only be visable to active members here. This is done in order to entice people from Reddit and IG to create an account here and enjoy what @pakalolo and @Stu have made for us so please respect this and refrain from posting the code elsewhere and encourage all to join the NFC. You could make an argument that without FC and the Z-Team the RBT might not be. I am excited to give back to you all as the New RBT direct sales model allows for some slack to give back.

Please see the Milaana thread for details on the Mi3. Know that all units will be personally inspected by me to ensure the highest quality gear reaches your hands. Please check our www FAQ and YouTube and direct any business related questions to me at ryan@rastabuddhatao.com.

Last but not least thanks so much for the great entries for the RBT NFC History contest! #somuchlove

For a black and white DNA75 mod use either the SplinterDNA or SplinterZDNA ecigprofiles depending on if you're using a smaller Splinter V1/V2 or the larger Splinter Z.

Unrelated to your question, here's a pic of a V2 and a ZV2 on the venerable Wismec RX Gen3 Dual in case anyone wants to copy the settings once they've upgraded their firmware for better TC performance:
