So I picked up a MI2 on entexchange thats coming with 2 short stems. Do you all prefer the medium or long stems from 508phineas? I see the wood stems have mixed reviews. Ive looked up Miliken but since there are no products for sale in etsy assume they are built to order? If asked what size I need it would be a 19 or is there more info Id need to provide? Thanks in advance!

I’ve used a variety of different glass and wooden stems from different makers and for me the long cooling stems take away too much of the vapor feel that you need on a device like Milaana.

I prefer the wooden stems and while the Milliken stems are nice I’ve had issue with fit…

@Ed's TnT stems are the bomb. I have one in Thuya Burl and one in Wenge.

Also Futo is now carrying wooden RBT stems. And @FearAndLawyering is working on some too.

You can’t go wrong with phineas stems. I have a few of each size but find myself reaching for the middle length the most. Plenty of cooling but still enough feedback to know how hot you’re getting, but the heating on the mi2 is pretty perfect to ride the button, once you dial in draw speed
Alan from toasty top makes some amazing wooden stems. I think they look really nice with the mi2 and provide plenty of cooling.
He makes glass lines stems as well if you want best of both worlds.
Congrats on the pickup!
Thanks Im excited. I looked up toasty top but on his website it has diagrams no photos of these? Doesn't appear they are on IG.

Alan does mostly email and custom work. If you poke around the site you’ll find the page called Tubes long page with lots of options. Best to email him and get the conversation started, expect it to take a while.

If you want ready to go use Ed or Futo

I checked eds tnt would these be the 19/14 stems he has?
Im in the US so not sure about ordering from Futo since it would ship from Canada. Although the Padauk would look amazing with the inbound Mi2.

Yes. For Ed the bowl side is 19/19 and fits all the RBT products. The other side is a 14mm WPA you can sip with your mouth or use with a piece.

I’m also in the US and Futo ships here all the time. They take PayPal and normal credit/debit and the international fee adds a couple bucks and the shipping is about week but no issues.

ask 10 people about stems you'll get 10 diff answers hehe. I think part of the fun is trying all the diff ones and seeing which one matches your particular style. they all have pros and (subjective) cons.

general note though when trying different stems, they each tend to put your flower a different height from the heater combined with different cooling = different settings for each stem, some perform drastically different

my own personal favorite is probably long xl8r, gold standard for cooling and keeping some heat feedback. not available for purchase anymore and getting harder to find ($$$) second hand

dhgate knockoff cooling stem - works decently well but the joint will be 19/26 and may not fit the 19/19 stuff. you can grind it down to fit better. long shipping time but they can still be purchased

508phineas stems - function on them cannot be touched. I had a medium one and sold it though. I ride the line on combustion and this stem made me cartwheel across hehe - I need SOME heat feedback.

ed tnt and MWW - never tried one but would like to get one some day. both look amazing. I had a MWW wenge stem I sold as a matched pair with a wenge US custom splinter, looked like they were made for each other

-----------------------

Im playing around with stems and figuring out a build process. Iterating on a 3d printed jig for sanding - I will probably make this print available if anyone is interested in DIY their own stem (get a 3/4in dowel rod, cut down to 3 to 4in length, drill the center out, sand the taper). initial results are promising -

Hello everyone here,

I have just made a prototype of a leather jacket for the Milaana2 that allows you to keep your device safe, even when you want to use it :
A hole at the fire button allows easy access, another at the fresh air intake as well.
The snaps allow to dress and undress the Mi2 easily and quickly on the back of the Mi2!
A strab protects the MP space and can be lock between the snaps when Mi is used!
Made on the model of the cases I already made for the Fw7 and the tinymight : Full grain leather, vegetable tanning, hand dyed, seamless design.

If you are interested in having me make one for you, don't hesitate to contact me by private message!

I'm proving @FearAndLawyering correct chiming in to say I always prefer the long @508phineas stems. My use case is mostly Splinter Z temp stepping followed by Milaana 2 in a distant second.

Another great setup with a Milaana 2 is a j-hook with a stem-packed WPA

I actually prefer the medium phineas stems, but my use case is mostly unregulated like a milaana or lil bud. I find the long stem robs so much heat it can be hard to dial in a good unregulated hit with it. The long stem is great for the Zion though, and is def perfect for regulateds like the splinter or tetra.

I dig your work with these cases.

I had contemplated a leather Milaana case with two sleeves on the front to hold a battery and stem with a top flap for protection over the whole. However, I can’t sew for shit.
Thank you.
Do you have a sketch of your case design? Maybe I can make something.
Otherwise, I designed a case to put 2 batteries or 1 battery and a MP, but independent of the Mi2 case (here with the TM)

I heard you were selling all your vapes and mods due to the success of the Anvil? Can I get dibs on the RBT gear? 😂

I guess I’m the shorty stem guy. Perfect pairing for me

Same. Loved the look and form factor; didn’t mind the bit of extra heat.

My issue was that the pinched tip needed a tighter “embouchure” to get a good seal... which culminated in a tragic drop to the floor.

I’m finding the medium has enough heft so that this hasn’t been a problem. Yet.

Haven’t seen embouchure since my sax days😁

Top tip for anyone with a short stem:
Re-shape the basket part of a rimmed basket screen so that it will fit inside the mouth-end of the stem.
Put the screen in the freezer for ~20 minutes before your session. Or just keep one in the freezer at all times.
Put it on the stem right before you start the session. It works REALLY nice for cooling the vapor ;}

I suppose this can be done with a rimless basket screen too, but the rimmed one makes this mod so darned fast and convenient..

@Duba

Here’s a mock-up of the design I’ve had in my head. Paper and tape were too weak to get a shot with a battery and stem in the front sleeves.

I’m betting you used to make a car out of a cardboard box to sit in and pretend to drive didn’t ya. Used a frisbee as a steering wheel?!

Ask me how I know.

Ok i see what you mean.
So it would be more of a carrying case and not a protective skin like I make (with the possibility of using the device with its skin on the back.)?
It would be quite bulky.
I'm gonna think about this
