Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
I just got one, my first unregulated vape. What's a good technique for starting out? I usually choose flavor over super roasted

Use a short pretty plain stem for full mouth feedback if you can to get started, ideally rimless basket screen near the edge, good 19/22 fit stem etc a couple spikes can be okay if you need something instead of plain (honestly I'm not even sure how well I could vape these days that way although I did try not too long ago anyway) then you can get a sense with a full battery how fast it heats up and how it will decline as the battery fades, a really nice way to stir and fully extract a bowl without overcooking a spot and getting the most flavor, is to dump it out on a surface and then suck it up like a straw in reverse so the more cooked part is in the bottom of the basket screen now... Another really nice thing to do, as you are extracting taking hits and the herb is getting a little darker shrinking, pack a little extra greens on top sucking them up like a straw still too, to finish off the bowl with a nice even extraction and better flavor at the end! I would also recommend a pretty consistent medium fine grind if possible... Since the two is tuned a little cooler you should be able to hold the button for the duration of your hits, a little longer at first when cold start to get going with a preheat, and inhaling after you let go of the button always to fully clear heat and vapor... This should allow for efficient use with the battery, however back-to-back hits with minimal pause also helps to use that retained heat for faster heat up etc. If it is running on the hotter side and you want to add without scorching risk and more control, you can try pulsing the button as that is the meaning of the word Milaana originally, on and off the trigger feathering, as I mentioned the two tended to run a little cooler so that is more true in different models like the three typically... There is a lot you can read in the threads, but the best way to learn technique is just to get into it yourself with a lot of experiment and using only it instead of any other vapes etc. Good luck and enjoy!

RBT Products still in heavy rotation in this household.

Looks like he is auctioning some insane stuff on his Herbaltherm Instagram right now...

Get it while it's available

I assuming Ryan is still also selling his glass slammers 1HH? I can't keep up with the names. Insane big heavy hitter though, deep flavor.

For no particular reason, out the box I started with 5secs on the button, 5secs off, for two cycles and inhaling easy and gentle the whole time. It just worked for me, always has. I enjoyed the instant perfection of my Mi2 experience so much that I never bothered to try my Mi3, sold it eventually and just kept my Mi2’s. I like some restriction when I vape so I’ve acquired various stems that are not as wide open.

19/19 XLjr cooling mouthpiece with 4-5mm glass beads (make sure they go no further than the first dimple) is just fantastic, I like it, truly

Milaana is incredible and has definitely joined the daily drivers, can't wait to see Ryan progress with the 4Mi, this promises fabulous things!

Long life to the unregulated device! Cheers! :peace:

I have XL8tr long and short that I use for a Splinter V, and set both up like you have, from screen to first dimple. But I used a combination of ball sizes in each...

I finally received a Milaana 3 (thanks to @jkeyes98) 🙂

I agree with the previous reviews, this one heats up much faster than my Milaana 2 and you have to pulse the button to avoid burning (with my Mi2, I can hold the button down). I find that the airflow is also more restricted on the Mi3.

I bought the Mi3 to make a few modifications such as:

  • send the unit to a qualified craftsman to enlarge the battery hole to fit the 21700. I don't think it's possible with the Mi2 because the walls are very thin and I don't want to risk damaging it. Mi3 is much thicker for this purpose. I'm going to have to lower the battery contactor (to recover the 5mm gap between the 18650 and 21700) or make a new custom one

  • unstick the female glass connecting joint (ideally without breaking it) and create something similar to the TM2. The idea is simply to add a standard glass tube with a custom-made piece of stainless steel on top, held in place by one or two screws. An O-ring will be inserted into a groove provided for this purpose to hold the TM mouthpieces in place. A small airflow hole on the top of the unit will also be created

  • OR leave the glass as it is if I manage not to break it or find an identical one.. I'm not sure yet

  • enlarge the current airflow hole on the side to use it as a carb hole (like a sticky brick). Hence the need for an always-open airflow hole on the top of the unit (because with two holes on the side it might be complicated to play with them as they will be too close to each other, on an SBL the holes are much further)

  • change the firing button for a flat-face one

  • add a small hole at the top to accommodate a stirring/empty tool

  • add safety like fuse or BMS

It's time to dismantle now, it's going to be fun :brow:

Disassembly complete, I used a heat gun to remove the female glass and I was lucky because it didn't break (to tell the truth, this one came all by itself without complication.. a little air passed through it, so it wasn't completely sealed) 👌

So.. Mi3 is really well designed.. clean and uncomplicated disassembly..

(the female glass is 2.5mm thickness)

Regarding the switch to 21700, I have two possible solutions:

  1. keep the current lower contact and simply add a longer screw for the upper contact. The 21700 battery will therefore be around 5mm longer than the current 18650. The battery will protrude slightly over the top. The simplest method is effective because all you have to do is enlarge the hole and find a longer screw.
  2. keep the screw of the current upper contact and create a customized lower contact. It will also be necessary to remove a further 5mm from the wood. The current contact cannot be used in these conditions.

I'm still thinking about it

Edit: I'm thinking of choosing the second method because it's probably possible to saw off the screw fixing paste (which measures precisely 5mm, which poses a problem because it is almost at its maximum depth) and create two small mounting holes on the washer for a screwing over it. This will allow efficient assembly while retaining the original contact part. It's time to send it to the craftsman! :brow:
