Yes! air fryers are technically just small convection ovens.

If all of my vapes break at the same time, I'm going all Apollo 13 on my air fryer with a hose and duct tape

I'm going to add https://web.archive.org/ in my donations from now on. Otherwise, facts disappear and reality is manipulated.

If you read the news, there's been a huge breach of security of major networks in the U.S. (Purportedly, by the Russians.) But, HUGE breach affecting many major companies and the government. I read an article to see which companies to know if any of the software we use are a part of the breach https://www.theverge.com/2020/12/15/22176053/solarwinds-hack-client-list-russia-orion-it-compromised
but found the customer page linked in the article was gone from Google cache as well. Doing a little search and you are not going to find anything but edited lists.

Go to the company's now 404 page in the wayback machine
and you can find different lists at the different times.

I think that anything we can do to help retain this capability is well worth it.

Suppose someone you love is going to have surgery, where they open up the chest cavity or the abdomen. Would you want the attending surgeons and nurses to wear surgical masks? I suspect you would because there is a risk of death by infection from microbes emitted from the mouths of those attending.

Now we have an unusual and temporary situation where any person you meet outside of your own household also poses a risk of death by infection from microbes emitted from their mouth; we ourselves pose the same risk to others: friends, loved ones, associates, strangers...

The two situations are pretty similar and yet there seems to be a large number of people (Republicans mainly) for whom a mask in one is normal and required and in the other to be resisted at all cost. Politicizing this is hazardous to your health and to the health of all of us!

Tomorrow 12/21/20 is the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, and it happens to be on the Winter Solstice.. The Winter Star, as they call it, is theorized to be what was referred to as the Star Of Bethlehem.. They're supposed to come close enough to appear to shine as one when viewed by eye.. Interesting times. I think it's supposed to be it's closest in the early morning hours just before it gets light out, EDIT: but I don't think it will be visible from where I am until just after sundown very briefly. I have an app I'm gonna use to figure it out for myself.

It's supposed to happen about every 20 years, and it's supposed to be the closest one since 7/16/1623 but back then they were supposed to be too close to the sun to be observable.. The last time it was observable like it is now, was supposedly 3/4/1226.

One reason I wanted to bring it up though, is for the Twin Peaks fans out there.. ;) :spliff:

AFAIK vaccines store mitigated viruses.
This mitigated virus has to be kept alive, hot temperature would kill it. I believe it's fridge temperature and not freezer's fwiw.
That is how some earlier vaccines worked but not how these work. They are not growing viruses and disabling them. They synthesize a piece of protein from the spikes on the virus surface.

If you haven't been wearing a mask during flu season previously, saying you need to wear one now seems a more of a virtue signaling device than a medical one. (By the by, look to the statistics on mask use. The U.S. is better than all but a few countries in Asia.) From "two weeks to flatten the curve" to, "hey, even with the vaccine, after you take it you still have to wear a mask"; some are not entirely confident in the dictates of our betters. That's especially true when so many of those betters are caught violating their social distancing and masking rules. Some pigs are better than others.

If you want to really get down to business, see if you can guess the party of the people you see wearing the masks incorrectly. Each person who's nose you see, try to determine who they voted for. Just because some make a political point to not wearing them tend to be from a party that balances the freedom/safety fulcrum on the freedom side does not mean the anti-nose coverers are not of the same ilk just with a different group he need signal his virtue to. That is, unless, the anti-nose coverers are too stupid to understand the point. Probably the same ones who got us into this by not doing what their kindergarten teacher told them--cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.

I know there are some who still think there's little difference between covid-19 and past flu types but the differences do exist and given the choice I think most of us wouldn't choose the one with the higher instances of death, intubation and long term issues.

I have a sister-in-law who is a medical claims specialist....she's been working weekends for awhile now because her workload has more than doubled due to covid-19. She has been doing this work for awhile now and past flu seasons didn't affect her workload like this.

This is wrong on so many levels. Think about what you just said!!! This is the same as saying: "well I hit my finger with a hammer the other day so I may as well hit my head with it today, anything else would just be me signaling virtue." Or: "Given that the top pig cut his trotter the other day I may as well stick my dick in this pencil sharpener. That'll strike a blow for freedom."

All this civil-liberties lawyering (by people who are neither lawyers nor medical experts and don't know what the fuck they are talking about) looking for excuses to downplay a deadly virus. Wear a fucking mask and for pete's sake stop enabling and encouraging people who are endangering all our lives.

Just because we have some vaccines now does not mean this thing is licked. Unfortunately we have a huge reservoir of cases now in the United States and mutations that make the virus more deadly or not handled by existing vaccines, etc could occur and become more likely the longer this thing burns through the population. It's essential to reduce the case numbers whatever way we can. Mask wearing is stupid simple and cheap. There is a strong consensus about the efficacy of wearing them among scientists.

(And no, I don't mean wear a mask in your car by yourself. Wear one in appropriate situations where you can't maintain distance and as directed by your local public health authorities. For most people who do not work in public-facing jobs this is actually a tiny percent of the time.)

Here's the experts talking about if we can't use the vaccine to create social justice rather than save the most lives. Science!

Later in the piece another doctor, named Marc Lipsitch, explains that teachers should not be considered essential workers for the purpose of being given priority vaccines by the CDC because, and I quote, "they are often very white." pic.twitter.com/FIiEvy6kLD

A third expert, an economist named Elise Gould, counters Dr. Lipsitch that teachers *should* be prioritized. Why? Because the families they teach are disproportionately "Black and Brown", and those groups would benefit more than white people. pic.twitter.com/nw8mpCKWzM

Are they endangering my life or no? (My only color is freckles.)

But, masks are sure to stop disease. We'll be respiratory disease free in a couple of weeks if we all just wear masks. I assume all who tout masks are doing it the right way. Tossing the mask after each use. Not touching the front of the mask when you remove it. Stuff like that. Unlike me who has one in the center console or pants pocket and pull it out when needed. You? Are you wearing the mask right? If not, you're killing grandma.

To be honest, Just about the only time I wear my mask is when I physically enter somebody else's place of business, or some other particular situations that may call for it (dropping off food to an elderly person for example). Oh, I grabbed a flight to and from FL so I wore a mask in the airport and on the plane etc etc.

Living in a densely populated part of NY, one of the most impacted areas, according to everything I've read and heard - I should be guaranteed to catch it & die. I never stopped going into work, never "worked from home" and I haven't taken a single sick day all year long. Here we are though, 12 months later, and from what I can see here, absolutely nothing has changed. I feel like we're in the exact same spot that we were in last March.

Oh, actually, toilet paper is mostly back on the shelves, so I'm glad people got over their irrational fear of perpetually shitting themselves for the rest of eternity.

Your last post reeing about people espousing authority\knowledge while having none is exactly what you yourself are doing in these two prior posts.
I reckon this is when you start saying anyone who disagrees should be "sanctioned" and silenced.

This is the classic repub response when told science says do x but they don't feel like doing x: deny that there is any authority whatsoever and that science amounts to just another opinion. Forget science and "do for self." I know many public figures are now espousing this very nihilism but I suggest resisting it.

Okay I think I am going to retire from this discussion because I am beginning to get pissed off.
