Unpopular opinion: I think it's good that Trump only hires idiots. Why would I want him hiring qualified, effective people? Especially in the Defense Department.
Speaking of which, our military hasn't won a war in 80 full years anyway. Though that Hegseth dude does have the face of a man who could lose a war with Greenland.
Qualified people in the defense department probably wouldn't even try to conquer Greenland.

Probably not. But 4-5 "qualified" Secretaries of Defense spent trillions of dollars and 20 years to replace the Taliban with the Taliban. Wars in Afghanistan have been famously unwinnable for over 2,000 years. And none of those men were exactly Alexander the Great.
It was also JFK's "Best and Brightest" who decided war with Vietnam was a good idea.
None of this is a defense of Hegseth, a drunk who said, "I will only stop drinking if you put me in charge of the entire military". Maybe the most alcoholic statement of all time.

It's more that Centrists pretend to not be able to tell them apart. They find both options distasteful. But history shows that if forced to decide, they'll pick the option on the right every time.
