God damn, DON'T BUY A PEAK! These things hit nice, but they are the biggest pieces of shit and Puffco really doesn't want to stand behind all of these lemons.
My THIRD BASE DIED , This one was my sisters it no longer charges. My last one was sent back due to loss of haptic feedback and short battery life. I'm on my third and she is on her second base, WTF. I got this one for her in June and it's already dead, and she doesn't even use it daily. I sent proof to Puffco and they said that if I lost the receipt then they cannot help me. Even though it's got a year warranty, and it hasn't even been out for a year.
So hopefully I can dig through things and find the original receipt for this POS so they will repair it.
I"m glad I have a switch too,I just wish it was smaller. But the Peaks are not dependable at all. I don't expect many V1 Peaks to be around in 3 years. Just some advise if you are about to purchase, check out the Switch instead.
If you already bought the Peak, baby the shit out of it and keep your receipt! you will need it when it inevitably breaks.
Knock on wood but I don’t hear anyone else with these base problems (speak up and correct me if I’m wrong). Are you following the instructions, abusing the thing at all?
Someone was asking about EQ opaque bottom insert. Have not used it but I do have a crystal star quartz fully opaque. This MF hits like a champ, sometimes too hard on even green. So I load it with the mini beads covering the bottom on green. To me it reduces the heat and makes it hit just right for the fat cloud. Haven’t even attempted in a higher setting. EQ makes some good stuff so please tell me if you get one and lemme know how it is.
No abuse, just issues that are to be expected I suppose. There have been several different issues with different bases. My first base had the haptic feedback go out in it. Then the second one wouldn't hold a charge. This one is an issue with the actual USB charging port going bad, The batteries were still good I just couldn't get the USB cable to make contact to charge it unless I held it just right. These aren't a big deal until after a year is up...then it really sucks.
My biggest issue with all of this is that Puffco is looking to get out of fixing units they should WANT to fix. They should want the first adopters of the Peak to be happy and praise it. Since they know even the very first purchasers couldn't get it until Feb. or March 2018 at the earliest, why are they claiming that the 1 year warranty may be up on units and trying not to fix them under warranty? That's just shady, every single unit is still under warranty, why would they try and pull that?
At the end of the day, I actually still love my Peak, and I did have my receipt so I have a new base on the way to me right now.
While it has been gone I have been using the hell out of the Switch, damn it's nice too. I could get by without one or the other but they are both nice to have. That being said after the 1 year warranty is up, and my base inevitably breaks or no longer charges, I will just repair it myself if possible or go without it. With the Switch and things like the Carta on the way hopefully things will continue to evolve.
I still love my Peak. LOL
