I followed these instructions to clean mine...a pain but possible with patience (and a couple torx bits),

You have an older v1 Pro. Like @80Sixed said the newer v2's are much harder to deep clean and can result in torn silicone. Also would void the rest of my warranty. The deep clean service on a v2 runs about $80usd.

That looks cleaner than my Proxy 3D atty ever did.
How does the stainless steel sheath look?
I always felt like the housing/sheath was the main cause of most of the reclaim and heat loss.

Clean as a whistle. I did have this in rotation with another and cleaned them frequently in 99%.

Sounds like the right way to do it!

How frequently of a cleaning are you talking though? Like daily?

IME once the liquid condensate turns into baked on carbon it seems to be nearly a lost cause to get those atomizers back to new again.
Cleaning in in solvent before the liquid condensate bakes on seems like the way to go, I guess I always waited to long to start a soak as I never scooped a spare atty to swap with.

Are you doing cold start or hot start dabs with your Peak? I remember you never really liked the cold starts from these e-rigs but I'm not really sure what you've been rocking since our gem$toned days!

Maybe not daily but perhaps pretty close to it? Perhaps a bit ocd about clean tasty dabs but nothing too crazy, I just hate having any odour coming out of the chamber as it can stink up the drawer it lives in lol.

That could be it, otherwise you're likely pulling oil up into the chamber, which isn't very difficult to achieve with the Proxy especially if it's stock. Do you use 99% iso?

Cold starts always just like the 'ol ruby days yeah!

Are there quartz or ruby inserts for the 3DXL chamber? What do you think if you have tried them?

Given the new product just released by the competition (Dr. Dabber Switch 2) do you think or have you heard anything about it in Puffco's live shows if they will do something similar regarding inserts or heating profiles?

No, but I think JCVAP has their own chamber that's compatible on the 3DXL and there are ruby inserts for it. I think the feedback is mixed due to the quality of the 3rd party chamber, and not something I want to try.

No, Roger never talks about it, but a major update of the app would have e-nail style temp adjustability, profiles, ect. on my wishlist indeed!

On LCV site they sell ruby, AIN, quartz and diamondium inserts from JCVAP and say they're compatible with Peak Pros. It seems you don't need the JCVAP atomizer, or I'm missing something ?

The ICA chambers are designed for it, so you get the bottom heating as well. You could try tossing one in a 3dxl chamber, but you will likely have to heat it up on max temp for a cycle before use. It takes about 30s of full blast blazer big shot torching on a 19mm ruby... that's a lot of btu's/calories of blast furnace! And IMO, if you care about your dabbing surface and want to enjoy the purity of ruby, not sure why you would dab off of it when the vape path goes through ceramic, metal, and silicone. You'd be much better off with the new switch2 imo that has actually been designed for it, but I won't be able to confirm that until it's in my hands.

I picked up a v1 peak pro around 4/20 bc it was discounted to $250. The internet told me I would need the 3d xl chamber to unlock the best experience, so I got that as well. The ability to customize settings with the app was a huge selling point for the pro. After one or two months I wasn‘t able to connect to the app anymore. Did some digging on Reddit and tried, hard reset, delete the app, unpair the device, pretty much running circles and getting nowhere... I‘ve had the same phone (galaxy s10e) for over 5 years with zero issues connecting to any bluetooth devices..

So I’m reaching out to the true professionals on fc, is there anything you guys would recommend trying before contacting puffco cs?

Appreciate any help!

unpair the device

Did you actually delete the device from your BT? Also for hard reset when powered on did you try 7 rapid clicks, then wait for the flashing light sequence, and then when it's flashing white do another 7 cicks. Might not do much more than a 30s+ hold for reset but worth a try.

Do you have the most recent firmware (AR)? Mine always connects initially now but sometimes disconnects mid dab which feels like a glitch because it never happened before and happens with both my onyx and pearl (on ios).

@Philreal187 I sometimes forget to turn on the 'Location' on my phone and that will stop the device connecting.
It sounds like you have tried most things...there is no harm in reaching out to Puffco CS and they will have more options for you to try to fix your problem.

Still no luck with my phone app connecting… but you did strike up a solution :science: I over looked! I have an iPad so I tried dowloaded the iOS app or path browser and it actually connected and worked perfectly!

@LesPlenty I have a pivot ordered maybe once that arrives I’ll reach out to customer service. It would be convenient for the phone app to work as well but for at home hopefully the ipad keeps doing the trick!

Thanks for the suggestion and help!!

But it's not all sunshine and roses. This is a really stupid design.... I'm obsessive about cleaning yet still this happened.

Started at about 1000 dabs in.... now at 4000. Only used stock glass.

Getting my warranty replacement base today for this onyx that made it to 4800 before the battery was starting to noticeably suck. From first email to delivery was 10 business days, Puffco Support once again impresses me especially being in Canada!

I have a new Peak pro 3DXL for a few weeks now and was underwhelmed by its performances.
Only a few days ago I used the app to start a sesh and noticed that the sessions starts before the set temp is reached (for exemple on red, 277°C, the unit vibrates, indicating the beginning of the sesh, at around 255°C. Is it normal ?
It seems to stay there for a few seconds before reaching the set temp.
I sometimes monitor weird changes in temps even during the sesh and when I use the boost, the temp goes way down or all over the place near the end of the timer.
I took a video screen shot of a sesh on red and green :
I contacted Puffco support and also wrote to the shop from where I purchased it but wanted your opinion. Thanks

100% normal just the heating algorithm and the haptic occurs for a cold start hit.
I don't understand the purpose of this. If I set the temp I want to take my dab at, why telling me it's at temp before it really is ? Is there a benefit I don't see ? 😅
Do you think the little pause in the heating at ~155°C is part of the algorithm or just a glitch ?
I noticed the last part (end of sesh and boost) of my screenshots were missing so here they are
The decreased temps at the end of the sesh and boost is also normal I assume ? If so, again, is there a benefit ? 😅

When I said I was underwhelmed by the performances it was a bit much.
In all honesty I was happy with its performances but may have wrongfully expected biger différences with the DTV5XL and Pivot, considering the price difference.

I was a bit puzzled sometimes because my first ~ 10sec draw was weaker than the second although the DTV5 and even Pivot use to extracts everything of my microdoses in those first seconds.
I did a few test dabs, waiting after the vibration for the atomizer to reach the real set temp and I feel that my hits are better.
I also upped my draw speed a bit 👍

I may now have to contact both support to apologize 🫣

As I indicated, the haptic feedback occurs at a point where vape production will start at a lower temp for a "cold start/up temp" dab for terps/flavour. This is a Puffco signature thing, because the devices are designed/prioritized for flavour and vape quality. If you prefer to dab at your static set temp, just wait a few more seconds and have at it! Or alternatively, you can just do a traditional style dab and hot drop after it reaches your preferred temp. In fact, I think i'll switch to those now just to mix it up a little bit!

Do you think the little pause in the heating at ~155°C is part of the algorithm or just a glitch ?

I know for a fact it's part of the algorithm. There is a different algorithm for the XL intensity as well that is different from the others. Roger has explained it and you can get a proper summary somewhere on the Puffco IG where he compares the XL algorithm to the radiant heat energy from a fully torched banger vs just torching from the bottom.

The decreased temps at the end of the sesh and boost is also normal I assume ? If so, again, is there a benefit ? 😅

Also normal, just part of their programming.

It's probably your technique or settings. The 3dxl absolutely destroys the pivot in every single aspect except for form factor. I've settled on the stock cap (used to use restricted Kyle Wym inserts, but no longer) and 515-530 on max as preferred temps/profiles. A little hotter sometimes for live resin/fse, and a little cooler for hash rosin, but those are sweet spots with the crazy open airflow of the stock joystick cap. Performance continues to blow me away in both vape output and especially FLAVOUR.

I did a few test dabs, waiting after the vibration for the atomizer to reach the real set temp and I feel that my hits are better.
I also upped my draw speed a bit 👍

This was the thing that took me the longest to learn, the draw speed. I think i'm traumatized from constantly being gaslit about inhaling "gently" but with that 3dxl if you want more, you gotta rip it more! I love being surprised by the sheer volume of vape that comes out when it's so smooth it feels like nothing is going in! lol

I may now have to contact both support to apologize 🫣

Haha yeah I feel bad for support sometimes but you're just an excited vape enthusiast that wants to make sure you're getting the right experience that you should be getting out of the box! I'm happy to be your level 1 support!
