I have a V5.0 and a Yocan Vane Portable, I like the Yocan Vane Portable a bit more as it holds a bit more flower however I'm still looking for better, I thought about the Lobo and the solo 2 -3 but mixed reviews. The two I have provides no buzz effect and after a half hour no effects at all compared to my bong ( 225 mg) or 1/2 a joint (1 1/4 size) that will put me to sleep in no time. Read about convection vs conduction vaporizer and I'm no better off still so what would you recommend for a pocket vape up to say $200 ?.

What temperatures are you using. I have a Solo 3 (and a Venty, Angus Enhanced, and 2-Con) and it can easily lay me out if it take it up to 210C. Very, very tasty too!

I wouldn't really consider S3 so pocketable? As I explain to you in another thread, those are both really weak old designed session conduction of vapes that you have, any solo or healthy rips lobo etc will be a better version, with more hybrid convection mixed in, however still session oriented with more automatic heating and loading the chamber (solo style is better I think because of the glass stems, but there are other things to consider as a result and yes less portable or sleek then)

There are a lot of other options that would be better than what you have too, you don't have to go to the top tier, and you don't have to explore artisan, even in the mainstream, but either of these would probably be satisfying for you compared to what you are used to these low-end models...

However either way it's not going to be like smoking, there is a lot of other stuff going on with smoking, so making the transition is more involved than just having a better product honestly

With the v5.0 I set it on red light and the Yocan Vane is best at 415, the Yocan Vane holds more and does best for me plus it's much smaller. I'm just looking for something better.

I have a feeling you may like torch vapes. Dynavap? Dani Vape?

“Heavy hitting” compared to inexpensive battery portables.

They last a lifetime. Potent vapor. Widely available. Within budget.

Maybe a crafty if a torch is a no go.

If you are trying to get off smoking and want something to fit in your pocket I would suggest the XVAPE Roffu. I use mine at a max temp of 190c/375f and that gets my used herb quite dark. When trying to get off smoking you can always bump the temp way up to 220c/428f (max temp for the Roffu) and get your used herb almost black, it tastes awful to me at those high temps but the effects are there if you want/need them. Once you get used to vaping and ditch the combustion your tastebuds will return and you may find lower temperatures more to your liking then. Many complain about the Roffu running too hot...just turn it down to where you like it, I like the saying, better to have something and not need it than need something and not have it.:2c:
The Roffu is convection heavy so the harder you pull on it the better the vapor, quite different to the early conduction devices. Conduction devices seem to work better with smaller/weaker puffs...sipping instead of ripping.

I don't smoke cigarettes, I've been using weed for sleep for the past 20 years or so. Now that I've ;earned how to pack my vape it works quite well now, Either I packed it to tight or loose but the Yocan Vane Portable does the job at getting me to sleep in less than 30 minutes.

I bought the Lobo specifically to carry around, and while I’m not thrilled about the glass stems, I haven’t broken one yet. A week or so ago I picked up a Firewood 9 which is great to carry around, but a lot more hassle to refill than switching the capsules out on the Lobo. Also much worse battery life than the Lobo, so more important to have access to extra batteries.

The Lobo is my next purchase, lot of good reviews.

I’ve heard good things about the Lobo, they love it on Reddit as a good mid range device at a good price. It’s got more convection than conduction so it’ll tend toward more cerebral uplifting feelings than sedating sleepy ones though. You may still find yourself wanting for something a bit sleepier.

Also, don’t be put off the Solo 3 due to pocketability! When I was doing my initial research I heard a fair few times that it wasn’t very pocketable. So I was quite surprised when it arrived that it fit into the pocket of my standard chino trousers just fine, along with the stem and a little pot of weed. Takes up similar space to a tinymight with like 3-4 batteries, stem and pot of weed. Although with that setup you can split the mass by having batteries in one pocket and vape in the other which is useful.

Comparing either to a butane pen vape and small torch it’s no competition though. Can slip one of those into a small shirt pocket fairly discreetly. Some solid affordable options that pack a real punch in that space. The Dani fusion is my recommendation there.

But yeah, you may find the Solo fits in your pocket just fine. Might be worth getting the dimensions of the Solo 3 unit and making a little cardboard mockup of it to decide for yourself. I’ve done that before when trying to size up a vape. It’s a little over your budget but if you can scrape that extra money together it’s well worth it. Plenty of discount codes and price cuts with various retailers if you shop around. I got mine for closer to £200 than the £300 RRP.

I find it gives me a similar heavy feeling (although not identical as you’re missing some of the nastier stuff that contributes to the feeling) to smoking at higher temps, and as you have a bong you’ll have plenty of cooling! It’s very nice to put it on 210-220c after a long day and melt into the chair :whoa:

My question, is the Solo 3 better than the vane, vane is $60 while the solo 3 on sale is $275.99. The vane has been very good once I learned how to pack it but spending so much I wonder what makes the solo 3 better

Yes, the Solo 3 is better than the Vane. And yes, it is 4-5x the price better. As many people have said in this thread, the two devices you own are frankly bottom of the barrel compared to everything else that's out there. As a company, Yocan is not known for their dry-herb vapes. They're better known for their mass-produced cart batteries and cheap dab pens. Not to be rude, but the two devices you have are like the TJ Maxx / Marshalls discount store version of dry herb vapes.

If the Vane gets you to where you want to be, then that's totally fine. But it sound like you have a gut-feeling that dry herb vapes can get better, and you'd be completely right – there's truly a whole world of significantly better vapes out there. Stronger effects, better flavor, more efficient, denser vapor, easier to use, healthier materials.... that's just the tip of the iceberg of potential improvements.

The Lobo is a good option, and will already be a huge step up. If you want to stay below $200 and you need a battery-powered vape, that's probably where I'd tell you to go. But since you are using weed as primarily a nightcap, I really would recommend you do a little extra research into the Dynavap – its conduction effects are much better suited for nighttime, and you can easily get a top-tier set up for $200, or an entry level set up for just $60.

I have never used a Vane, but my experience with Youcan products in the past has left a bitter taste in my mouth that makes me hesitant to spend anymore money on them.

That said, a $60 vape is not going to be in the same league as most $200 vapes, especially not one as popular as the Solo 3. I would recommend saving your money, I can’t think of any sub $100 vape I would recommend except for a throwaway for fishing or Kayaking (i wouldn't cry losing a $60 vape, but I would shed tears over my Mighty+ or Firewood).

The Solo 3 is so worth the money. Compared to what you have now they’re not even in the same league. I’ve tried a lot of portable vapes and I’d put the hits from the Solo 3 right up there with some of the best. Personally I always think it’s better to spend out and get a top tier vape, than get a mid range one and maybe find yourself wanting the top tier in a year or two anyway.

What makes the Solo better? Well, with the glass you get a very pure clean flavour. More importantly though, it has a powerful heater that can either give you a relaxed joint style experience in the session mode, or you can plug it into your bong and turn on the on demand mode and clear the bowl in 1-2 hits. Hybrid heating so both convection and conduction, it gives a thorough extraction with nicely balanced effects.

It’s just really powerful and versatile, and the battery life is solid for a portable heavy hitter. Simple and fast to clean too. Can’t praise it enough, and I’ve never been about the Arizer gear before this one.

Definitely look into the Dani Fusion too if you don’t mind using a lighter. It’s simple to use with excellent flavour and hits. Great value as well.

Ok, now I have to ask what you all think is better. Lobo, One and the Solo 3. Been watching reviews and it's up to these three, time to stop penching penny's.

I haven’t tried a Solo yet, but based on reviews and discussions, I’m betting it’s the winner, but I would definitely put the Lobo as a significant upgrade to the One, on par with a Mighty+ for vapor.

Please, stop using Yocan dry herb vape @2old2quit . I tried the Vane a couple of weeks ago and the off-gassing is absurd!!!! Maybe just a lemon... maybe I'm sens9itive , but i dont think it's really the case... cheaper vapes usually have that issue. I tasted plastic and other shit that was not the herb, oh and the headache lasted almost a whole day!!!
Other than better performance, more expensive vaporizers also offer better quality components and build, so you know you are not inhaling dangerous stuff. Any of the other vaporizers people have recommended would be miles away form that Yocan shit. Don't get me wrong, I love my Yocan Kodo, but for dry herb, you really ought yo get something better.
