About to send my second Pax back within 10 months. They last for about 4 or 5 months, then the temp light button no longer works, no matter how much I clean it. I now have the Firefly, and love it, and am replacing the Pax with the Alfa

How many ovens can you get on a full charge?
I took my pax out after a few months of no use, I remember putting it away fully charged and the battery was fully drained when I try to use it.
Then I fully charged last night and today it shows only partially charged, and I haven't use it yet.
Do you guys think I need to replace the battery? And if I do, does anybody have links to purchase the right one, and how to do it yourself.
Thanks.

I've been enjoying some other herbs in my pax (lemon balm, chamomile, lavender, etc), it's been a flavorful experience. Not feeling much in the way of effects but the flavor inspired me to add a little bit of a given herb to my normal weed trenches...I opt for filling the oven to 1/3 capacity with the two screen technique and, once the flavor is gone, adding in some lemon balm kinda rejuvenates the spentish weed, which makes vaping at the higher temps tastier (IMO).

zor,
another bummer with the pax is that 1/3 oven really doesnt cut it. i need to pack that 2/3 at least. tramp it down with a flat screen and then a ^ to keep it snug. the hits i get from that- the first 5 or so, are delightful.

Shootthemoon,
Between the top of the oven, a little rubber band popped out. I tried to shoved it back in slowly and it broke a tiny piece of the plastic off (lame). I pulled the rubber band completely out. I suppose it's there for a reason?

fwiw, I love this thing to death, it is like my best buddy, always working to help out.

ugh, my rubber rand popper out too now, did anyone ever have fix or solutiob for this? it wont go back in?

There is no fix. There are actually two and both of them broke on the Pax that I've opened up numerous times. I just ignored the issue and I've never noticed a problem.

Have a question for anyone who can help. 4 days with my pax now and I still know what I knew from day 1....I will never combust again. But my issue is that I still smoke cigarettes. But ever since I started vaping herbs my cigs taste like ass. What pipe tobaccos are the best to use with the pax? I need to find something cause these are horrible now. Accidently hit post before I was finished so had to edit it. I did try putting my cigarette tobacco in it and smoking it but although it tasted pretty decent and all, it was just way too strong. Could barely take a puff off it without choking.

Maybe try the ploom tobacco?
I thought they just had the little pods for the pax2 or whatever it's called. Didn't know they sold tobacco in bags. I'll have to check that out. I wonder if they would have it at one of the circle k's or superamerica gas stations they sell the pax in...

Although you'd think FC would have a lot of information about using tobacco in vapourizers, the reality is that it doesn't. I haven't used tobacco myself since 1972, but I am interested because I still have hope that one day I can convince my brother and sister to switch. The little information I've found suggests that you are on the right track looking for pipe tobacco, with loose tobacco for rolling cigarettes a poor second. Commercial cigarettes include chemicals in the tobacco to control the burning and are terrible in a vapourizer—or so I've read. Nicotine delivered through vapour is much stronger and you should exercise caution (again, from my reading).

I don't see the point in vaporizing tobacco. I feel like the "real" flavor of tobacco is only enjoyed when combusted.

There are varying levels of nicotine strength for E-juices, e cigarettes have effectively replaced my cigarette habit. You bro and sister should look into that.

Thanks for the info and small update on my end.....you don't wanna just look for pipe tobacco, you wanna find aromatic pipe tobacco. Regular pipe tobacco is just like cigarette tobacco as far as I can tell. I have 2 bags of it here to go by tho. Lol. Then upon further research I found that aromatic pipe tobacco to be what im looking for. Drew estates 7th avenue blonde is the one I wanna try first. As far as e-cigs go, I have never enjoyed the way they taste or make my lungs feel for some reason. Thus, the reason I'm looking for good tobacco to vape. Thanks tho, I too have some friends who have kicked the habit by switching to e-cigs. So it definitely is a good alternative.

Woodeeewood,
I am sorry if it has been addressed in this thread but I did peruse a few pages and couldn't find an answer..

is there an easy way to attach my pax to a water pipe? the MFLB whip attachment looks like it would work well, anyone have any suggestions on water cooling the pax?

Not sure if this is the 'temp light' problem that others have had... but sometimes, in order for my Pax to heat up, I will have to apply a little bit of pressure to the mouth piece, otherwise it just does nothing. Then as soon as the pressure is applied, the colours start alternating and it heats up.

Seems that a really thorough clean solves it for a short while, but the problem always comes back.

Any better fixes?

Alright guys, the pax vaporizer.

Its been out for somewhat 3 years, do you guys feel this device is the go to device, or are there cheaper (or same price) and better options especially with the release of Chinese vaporizers (FlowerMate V5.0s, Imag+) and also the latest alfa, haze and arizer air.

Basically is the pax outdated vaporizing technology/should it still be valued at $249?

Yes drop the price or come out with a new version. That's where I'm at.

I would take a Haze all day over this for $250 and although I've never tried the Alfa or Arizer Air I would take my chances with either over the Pax ( and for less $ too).

If you want something pure convection (that certainly provides better taste) then you might look at the ESV (on discount you can get it close to $250) or the Firefly.

The Inh05 or Indica are yet other options I would take over the Pax.

Just my opinion but Ploom needs to step up their game a bit. Just like Arizer did with the Air.

I think the Alfa kills the Pax. its cheaper, easy to clean, and the chamber is the perfect size.

Hey guys and gals! Just wanted to post some pics of the tamping/stirring tool i made. It could be made for most any vape, this one just happens to be for my pax. It's just made from either 12/14 gauge electrical wire. Bent with a pair of channel locks, then strip off insulation where ever you want. Tried it by stripping wire first, and it doesn't work as well. http://imgur.com/vz5U4UL,yTHrXKF,YS65xJo,zy16yPg,pazDl9F,gX6FK7g
Is the link to pics. I tried to follow instructions on how to thread but don't think I did it right. All three are the same btw. I just made multiples.

Hey FC Community,

New member here, but not new to vaping. I've had a PAX for a while now. Im familiar with other vapes like the solo, mflb, DBV. Used to combust cigars regularly 2 years ago until getting the pax. I just wanted to give my review two years later as I get info out of FC so I figured I should be productive member and help with someone who may be shuffling through threads and getting lost for hours like myself trying to decide on a next vape. My reviews will be a little rambling but I feel will help someone who may be new to vaping and had the same combustion routine i used to have or is looking at the pax.

1. Stealth-Yes
2 Efficiency- with screen trick/fine grind-Yes
3. Odor-Outdoors is better. Indoors/ be very mindful of what exactly you are about to do before you start your session. Remember you cannot be a good judge of odor once you have started your session.
4. Battery life- honestly very subjective to how you vape. Its portable....5 sessions per charge. This was coming straight from combustion and vaping on med/high
5. Vapor Visibility- if you learn how to draw on the Pax, you can achieve some "clouds"If you're new to vaping you can get these. (Remember the fine grind and a good packdown for best result) The higher the temp more visibilty (counting that you dont end on high.) I personally go for effect/ABV inspection rather than what clouds I can see. If you dont have the right lighting/backdrop sometimes you can barely see anything. If you're outdoors the wind plays a factor.
6. Vapor Flavor- Low setting pretty tasty if you're coming from combustion, medium after maybe 5 pulls it will change, if you own a solo/ any vape with glass you know which one wins this.
7. Price-When it came out it was worth the price. Currently, with a lot of other vapes in its price range and even lower, you're paying for that solid warranty ploom backs up. That is worth it alone in the vaping world. Just something to consider.
8. Build Quality- Yes, I dropped it at least 20times on tile (I know, I know), it has a dent , and scratches all over yet it still gets the job done no problems.
9. Maintenance- Get ready to clean often if you want to keep it running efficient.

* For folks new to vaping and combusted cigars the high setting is pretty close to combustion. If you climb the temps and end on it taking maybe two last draws on high. That may help. It helped someone I know.

Hopefully this helps someone. Remember this is the review and opinion of Slow Draw McGraw and not of anyone in reality.
