Thanks so much for the review. Pretty much other than the dimensions, appearance and stealthiness, Indica wins. That makes it an even tougher decision. Great news that the Indica will be available in matte black although I still wonder if a bright blue or green Pax wouldn't still appeal more as far as portability and stealth...

Great review, thanks again Vape Dr., I still can't decide:doh:

When vaporizing with others, do you take one hit and pass it like you would with a bowl? Or do you take a few drags, like with a blunt

Heya fogbank,

I also have a genuine Ploom Pax. There is no audible click, but in a "perfectly working" temp light button, there is a distinct tactile feel to it when it engages.

The actual plastic button itself should move freely (not to be read "loosely") and slightly to all sides when moved about.

I think it's a matter of semantics really. I would say that you have described the feel of my Pax's temp button to a tee, just using different words. :)

@berman1125 I do both. it's easy to sit around with 4 people and smoke.
If you just want a little, you can put 2 spacers in the chamber (3 are provided) with the unit.
I love my paxs, but the Indica has to delicious tasting lower temps (340f & 358f) and its so much easier to maintain.
@green13, I'm glad you found the review useful! If you like taste, this Indica is tasty!

So in the last week or so I think I have developed an issue with my PAX that I haven't seen in this thread, and I've read every post and been following it ever since I starting PAX'ing over a year ago hahah.

It seems my unit has gone rogue. It just keeps heating up and heating up seemingly. I can set it to low, put in maybe .2 with a folded screen on top and it just gets charred black fairly quickly and lets off massive clouds as if its set to high, which never happened before on low.

Basically once I realized this I just started taking puffs while the LED was still purple, and it doesn't seem to want to switch to green that often anymore. I set it to low with nothing in it and timed how long it took to go green and it was like a minute and ten seconds.

Guess I'll have to contact Ploom tomorrow and put that warranty to use.

Did you try cleaning the side of the tube were the spring is?
I get a bristled pipe cleaner, bend it in half (so its as strong) dip it in ISO and push it around the outside the outside of the tube, depressing the spring down as I go around the outer edge of the tube, then I clean the top of the tube and the bottom of the mouthpiece so it makes a good connection.
Its worth a shot.

This. Exactly. Sparing on the ISO though, don't soak it. Run a dry one through after a run or 2 of ISO. Use 99% ISO, not that 70% stuff! ;)

Also, while you're performing this operation, soak the mouthpiece assembly in a shot glass full of ISO and clean it when you're done doing the spring tube.

Good luck!

yep you need to return this one sounds like something burned out on the chip ,you will still need to clean so follow the advice above but if over heating like that and never turning off do not use it you risk the chance of the battery exploding .

On high Pax never turns stuff black so your hitting temp over set limit no cleaning will fix that something is very wrong .

Hello my fellow Pax friends,

I came across what for me is a super ideal carrying case. Notice in the third pic below you can store grinded herb very well and when you're ready you can simply insert your Pax and scoop up a full chamber!!

Just got done chatting with Ploom and will be sending my unit to them soon.

In regards to the cleaning tip, every time I clean it I take the spring out, soak/scrub/lube it, and while its out I stick an ISO'd pipe cleaner in the area between the tube and the body so I know that that shouldn't be causing my issue but thanks anyways.

Ploom did say this issue is sort of a more grey area but that they will fully test all functions and sensors and I'm pretty confident I'll end up with either a new pax (fingers crossed!) or a repaired and fully functional unit.

Just for giggles while I was chatting with Ploom I cleaned the mouthpiece/spring/tube area and lubed it up again, and timed how long it took to heat up, with no load in the oven. This time it took about 2 minutes and 30 seconds to reach low! So yeah I'm pretty sure I'll be set. Will report back when I hear from them.

Those are great! I have the same one, and a hard shell case (very safe) I have 4 RYOT cases (all from amazon) and they are sweet. They all come with smell proof pouches too which is awesome!

Check out these vials.
They are sterile and work great to fill the pax.
I fill up a bunch of vials put them in my smell proof cases so I can carry several varieties.
Here's a link to the vials I use (I ISO dipped mine to be super sure they were clean)

Hi guys,

Im trying to find "Pax battery upgrade/replacement tutorial" by dudeeitsbrian but no luck. Can someone tell me where to find it, please?

It's in this thread but I won't link to it because he later posted that there were problems afterwards and he no longer recommended it. Also, he illustrated it with a lot of pictures that he later deleted in spite after he was banned, so it's not as useful as you would like. Another point: when he tore down his Pax, Ploom was using a Torx 5 screw. They've since changed to a hex head that my collection of specialty screwdrivers doesn't include. I thought I had them all covered but this one is smaller than anything I own. Finally, opening it violates the warranty (the language did not forbid that when I did it but it does now) and pretty much guarantees that you will break the two O-rings sealing off the heater end.

Thx for fast reply.

I got for my birthday a fake Pax. I wouldn't buy it my self but I got it as a present. It looks like it is latest version with charging upside down with mouth piece on, heating colors - yellow, orange, red and Torx 5 screw. It make me well medicated in about 15 minute on middle temperature. But on full charge it can perform only about 18 minutes, so i thought that if i place bigger and better battery it will work at least for 1 hour.

pakalolo - you wrote "It's in this thread but I won't link to it because he later posted that there were problems afterwards" this is not a reason to not post the link, im grownup men, im realize all consequences. But anyway can you direct me to his post about changing battery and his post where he is not recommending to do this. I have been looking all day today and my back is killing me. Pakalolo, please help, you are my only hope :)

PS: I already opened it with no problem and both O-rings sealing untouched

Actually that is a reason not to link the post, since it contains bad information. I would send you the link in a PM but when I checked I discovered that the original tutorial isn't available any more, which is why you can't find it. The author removed it himself by editing the post, and then requested that the empty post be deleted. He did that because, as I said, the battery exchange didn't work and made the Pax unreliable.

I read most of his conversation on this topic today and i didnt read a bad thing about it. And I clearly remember that he wanted to make a business of this, changing batteries for a small profit. This is a reason why he removed all the information. Because if you want to help to others you will keep all info and add all bad things. But anyway, thx for your info, Pakalolo.

Does anybody know a forum where i can find how to change a battery in Pax?

Does this help you? He rambles until 4:30 in.

Have been waiting for your bit on this matter but already have this video in my "how to" folder. I know exactly where to buy that gray battery but im wondering if i can fit there battery with bigger mAh. I need someone who already successfully swap his battery and can show some improvements.

If you read most of his posts then you know that his battery replacement never worked properly or well. Perhaps you missed this one:

for anyone who is wanting to attempt to modify your pax so that the battery is only connected by physical connections; i strongly suggest against this.

while my initial attempt looked like a success, it actually caused more problems then it resolved. now i can replace the battery easily, however my battery is only lasting for ~30 minutes :(

i don't know the specifics of the problem, but i know pax has some kind of microchip, and i think it needs the battery connection to be soldered in order for the battery status indicator to work properly. i do not know why, all i know is when i had the same batteries soldered in they worked, and with my new setup they do not work nearly as well.

thankfully i found a shop in my area that said they will spot weld tabs to a li-ion battery, so after i get my NCR18650B's i'll be bringing them there for them to deal with :)

That is why the information was removed. It was his choice. The actual post where it was has been deleted since it no longer contained content. I'm not sure where you got the idea he planned to do battery exchanges, since he never mentioned it here.

Finally, if you think that FC removes bad information just because it is bad, you really need to be more careful around here. There is far too much of it, and that's why I refuse to make it easy for anyone to find something that I know is bad.

So, Pakalolo do you think you can create a new thread about Pax battery replacement (i dont have rights). That would be most helpful.

You do have rights in the place where that sort of query would belong: Ask FC. I'm not sure the topic justifies a new thread. I'll turn a blind eye but other moderators might not. Don't be surprised if it gets closed or merged back here.

To make sure that it is in right place, where would you recommend me to create a new threat?
