I am very concerned, any way of getting sick from too much vaping? It feels like I have something similar to pneumonia but I only experience the symptoms once I get about a quarter of the way through the oven, the symptoms usually stay for a while if I continue to vape, but go away if I don't. The symptoms really are non existent if I dont blaze. Any hazards I am unaware of as far as frequency of vaporizing? I did not blaze today at all for the first time in a verrrry long time :o Its like... I can... hear... my thoughts... Very worried though. A break wouldnt hurt and will happen regardless, just wondering if any of the long time users have any experience with this? I smoked 10 years before switching completely, but I never felt anything similar when I was smoking, except for maybe hash-lung after a long festival weekend.

Clearly the Pax is treating you well lol. I think you'll be alright man... I've never heard of anything about "too much vaping". I take random breaks myself from time to time, nothing out of the ordinary my man.

Anyone got a link to or suggestions for some better pick/brushes for cleaning the area surrounding the spring and clip area?
I've been using some dentek brand gum picks that I found from earlier in this thread, but they don't really work too well, they're too flimsy I feel.

is there a way to put the screens in and keep them stable? I did a keef bowl and basically cookied a third of it because i didn't realize the screen had unwedged itself. Does anyone else have a problem with this issue?

This is my biggest issue with the Pax, screens are a real pain in the ass. Still searching for the ultimate portable, hopefully this is the year.

You are right to be concerned. Vaping is way safer than smoking but that doesn't mean it's safe. A bad case of bronchitis drove me to vaping, but I can still feel stress to my respiratory system when vaping. If it goes away when you stop that's an indication that it's irritating you. I'm going to tell you stuff that you probably don't want to hear. Try to take a break to give yourself a chance to heal. Try to work with the low temp setting. Change your payload more frequently. Pace your usage. Consider ingestion. I'm not a doctor but I think these are simply common sense precautions if you're experiencing pneumonia-like symptoms. I hope you feel better and are able to continue without restrictions.

One more thing to keep in mind, MJ is not addictive. It can however be extremely habit forming. There is a major difference between the two. If you are addicted to a substance, you physically cannot function without it, you will experience withdrawal symptoms. A habit is completely psychological and can be suspended for as long as you wish. Not that I'd want to, but sometimes I have to. If valuing your health brought you to vaping, continue to value your health.

Really? Can you explain? The screen is not perfect for sure, but it's a hell of a lot better than a traditional screen in my opinion. I've not had the screen dislodge on its own but maybe twice over the last six months or so.

Every time I clean my Pax, I clean the screen with a bent bristly pipe cleaner, which makes it shine. Then, I bend one end slightly to make sure it does not seal over the vapor path and use a toothpick to set it until it feels solid on the left and slightly raised on the right. No, it doesn't have a nice little "click" to set in place, but this method has never failed me. A traditional screen would clog constantly, which would be a huge problem with a unit that already throttles the intake to force a slow, methodical draw. The Pax screen is not perfect, but I would hardly call it a "real pain in the ass." I would, though, use that term for traditional screens.

I think a good modification for Ploom would be to make a better seat for the screen so that it cannot block the air path.

I put them in folding the wrong way, I did a little diagram a while back.

When you put them in bent down like the letter n instead of up like the letter u, then push down on one side firm, it'll lock the lid in quite fucking nicely. An other way you can do it, theres a small pax logo pattern on the screen, find the end of the first row of logos and use that as a marker to bend it upwards on both sides with needle nose pliers, it should really be as tiny a bend as you can make, about 1/32nd of an inch down the screen or less, I bend them at about a 70 degree angle. I'll take pictures if you want, the first method doesnt damage your screen but can pop out when it heats if you dont properly "lock" it in place. The second method is great but you can ruin your expensive screen. I did the second method after buying a three pack of replacements. It heats noticeably better like this too, as the screen is flush against the bottom of the oven. I find orange is more like red and red is completely unusable like this, where if you leave the screen in like the lowercase n position I talked about earlier, and put it on red, its more like yellow, as there is a sizable gap between the oven base and the screen. one other thing, if your screen just simply doesnt want to stay in, the corners of the screen have probably been bent, if you look down the screen and the sides are not aligned, the screen will want to pop out no matter what. You have to try and get it even side to side. I know this is confusing but its the best way I can describe it. Those little latches in the oven wont hold shit if the screen is skewed

Thanks for the well wishes, yeah I know, I am not smoking/vaping anything for a few weeks, perhaps maybe a month. Its a pain in the ass but its retarded to be sick as fuck and stoned, I'd rather be healthy and sober. I will probably get edibles, that is what I ended up doing when I had the flu in december. Meh. Anyone else experience anything like this? I wonder if the moisture is whats giving me the pneumonia like symptoms. My stuffs really cured but not bone dry. It'd be like sucking on a hot steam valve a few times a day for a few months. Hmmm...

Hey, anybody found this yet? Custom Pax charging station. Cool!

pax-144x113.jpg

Those are boss! My friend does custom stands as well, sick slide holders too if anyone is interested! He does stuff for all the local high end smoke shops too, go any where in Providence and you'll see his stuff. My prototype is simular but has two charging stations and is rectangular, ts not finished yet he is waiting on glue. They are made out of corian, (expensive alternative to granite) he could probably do this design too though, it looks sharp. He has tons of colors to choose from http://www.etsy.com/shop/BNholders?ref=seller_info thats his shop. Any of you could probably message him your self. I'm betting it'd be 20-35 bucks, not sure.\
edit: corian is beautiful, and amazingly durable, super dense, and eco-friendly! :D The stacks of stuff he has amazes me. He installs the corian counters as a business, these stands are made from cutouts and ends, you'd otherwise probably never see something of that quality go for that price, the counters are more expensive than granite.

All of your posts regarding screen positioning are greatly appreciated but I feel that it should not be this difficult for a $250 tool. Even if you do get it in right, there is always the chance that it will pop loose. If the oven lid is removed when this happens, the "spring" in the screen can send your flowers flying. Most times I don't have a problem but when I do, it always seems to be at the worst possible time. The thing that is most frustrating is that the Pax excels with a tight pack and at times this can be really difficult to accomplish while trying to maintain a gap above the tube. Still love my Pax, it just frustrates me sometimes.

You could be sensitive to heat.
There are many other plausible explanations... not uncommon being a strain that has more allergenic properties.
Your system also may not "agree with that strain"
Is it "mersh' ? (commercially processed meds with pesticides and other foreign contaminants)

You are delving into a market that is very new, with new models and upgrades coming all the time. That's part of the problem with a market like this. Every vape has its quirks. I've not used one yet, cheap or expensive, that did not have some kind of little issue. My friend paid about $500 for his Cloud, which works great. BUT the son of a bitch gets too hot to hold, so he had to find a koozie for it. Now surely at $500, he shouldn't have to hide his toy behind a koozie, right? Wait for a few more years and these little bugs will likely not be as big an issue, but with new technology, you should expect it.

The screen popped out one time when I was dumping the oven. I am finding the super slow draw speed and the oven size (.5 gram fully packed) is more to my liking that the arizer solo. I know, I must be crazy.

But the pax, even with the light issue (just cycle slowly an it fixes) and the overburning imo of product, it's my personal fav for all uses.

I don't have any problems with my screen at all. No mods to it still the original one that came with the unit.
I agree, I compulsively tinker, never actually had a problem, and new screens never pop out on me. The problem that some people are probably experiencing is when the opposite diagonal corners of the screen arnt level it wont stay put. Side note, talked to my friend about the charger bases, he said he could make one in 20 minutes flat. I am probably going to head to his shop in the coming days to get mine, I'll post some pics! they are definitely going to be for sale, I will keep you guys posted when I hear more. Feel free to go on your own and ask him for one on etsy, he will know exactly what you are talking about, and perhaps it'll get a fire under his ass.

My bud this last month has been gorgeous medical og kush. I have never actually bought anything besides "headies" in any recent years. I dont consider my self a snob, but all my friends do :lol: I prefer to only get from medical providers if possible. I have been developing new allergies the last 2 years, perhaps thats the case. I have never had allergies prior ever once in my life, the last two years (winter included) have been quite shitty allergy wise. I grow dozens of species of tropical plants that I dont have the heart to kill off as they are gorgeous and I have grown quite attached to them like pets :mental: so I continue to suffer from allergies even in the winter.

just go on e bay or google and type "airbrush cleaning brushes" and these pop up. I found a deal where I got 5 sets of brushes for $3.99. They work great.

Additional excellent points. Perhaps after giving yourself some recovery time, apply process of elimination thinking. If this is non-script usage your doctor would probably recommend you stop. I personally wouldn't tell my doctor if I didn't have to. Not until my state legislature comes around. Feel better.

I tried the concave one without the kink on my pax. it seemed like it wasnt really in there, and kind of a gap on the longer sides, do you think i did it wrong? how are you supposed to bend it ad put it in there?

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
After a long time running, post 5 months, the temp light has plagued my Pax.. I will be back with pax chat and get a new one on the way here. Sad day, but I am glad to have that warranty.

dont know if anyone has tried this but--it's awesome! shred your material and pack the chamber about 1/3 to 1/2 full. fill the rest of the space with piece of stainless steel wool tightly balled up to fit in the chamber. vape on medium or high.

hits are perfect from the first to the last, no stirring, and completely spend material. hits approaching Cloud niceness.

this thing should be factory like this. It appears the stainless steel wool--because touching the bare walls of the chamber--gets hot and helps cook the material evenly and from the top.

It's awesome. Give it a try!!

Hmmm.. I once accidentally packed a stainless steel screen in my Pax when I tried to recover a bowl someone was going to actually set on fire (!). I remember that load seeming to cook a bit hotter than the setting it was at - maybe there's something to this?

I cant really describe it any better, you want to bend it slightly like a n and then slide it down so that both corners of both sides of the screen are making contact, push down on the middle and it'll make a click noise and should literally lock in. It creates a small bump upwards, if you do the bump on the wrong side, just push down on the bump and it'll reverse sides.

I would not vape with a pax any other way now. seriously, makes the pax do what you want it to do every hit.
