The Kirkland paper bleeds through pretty easily to me.

and your suggestion is?
So now I am confused even more. If a vice will work well enough then what is wrong with the press I originally linked?
Would it be better to stick to smaller batches? Maybe an oz?
About temp. I read somewhere (or watched) where someone was saying the optimal temp for the puck is 150F and if you press fast at a higher temp the puck still gets to about the same temp.
Opinions?

Anybody seen this one? Can be gotten on Aliexpress for $190. Would a screw have enough pressure to do a 4 gram run?
Just remember it's the details that count. if you plan on copying their plate dimensions but not use the same heater, for example, you could run into problems.
My design utilizes 4”x7” Dabpress plates. Are they big enough?
I am going to build the frame myself so it can be compact and strong like the Elysian 20 ton. I also like the option of tipping it on its side.I guess I'm confused, I thought you were thinking of building the whole thing, so you're just planning on building the press? Or are you just gonna slap the 4x7's on a HF 20 ton and call it a day?

I want my ram on the bottom too. I don’t plan to make an exact copy just very similar. Yes, I may sacrifice a bit by straying from the exact design but for the cost savings and satisfaction of DIY it’s worth it. I also like the option of being able to source replacement parts easily. If I use Dabpress I can do that.
It’s really kinda creepy that you said this right before I found the Daxtractor for sale."Crystal ball Crystal ball what say you?"
"I see a tall dark press in your future"
""!
I'm gonna try 35 lb parchment paper next. That's what some of the pros use.
IMO a bench vise is a pain in the ass for rosin unless you don't plan on using much. Good proof of concept but it takes too long to crank down and release.
You should look at something more like the Elysian press if you plan to press that much material at once. I would want something engineered to squish a QP if I was going that far with it.
Maybe? I've never measured the puck temp so I can't say.
just looked at them 35lb paper wow why do I feel like double wrapping will be cheaper. might get like a small pack what would be the size for a 3x7 plate. just got mine still looking for a press. Anything with a gauge is double if not tripled the prize man what to do I know someone mention getting a gauge one would of been better.
If you are looking to press large quantities like a half pound, you want to look at the commercial presses. I would start with Elysian Research and a user called Sunfire
I believe they capitalized on the drip tek thing.
If you are going to buy a large commercial rosin press, be prepared to spend some big money. And, be prepared to go through a LOT of weed. LOL
I say they are proof that pretty sells. That is a 5 ton press. How can it possibly compare to an Elysian, Daxtractor or really any well built 20 ton press for that kind of money? If I were looking for commercial product, I may also want to look at Pure Pressure. High end, expensive, but from what I can see its a hell of a machine.

I don't find double wrapping to be a cure-all, the Kirkland bleeds easily, even double wrapped for me when doing small squishes. It seems to be the worst when squishing single nugs. Bottle tech packages are less likely to bleed. I don't have a gauge but I feel like I'm pretty gentle about my PSI, when other people use my press I'm usually telling them to be more gentle the whole time!
I'm gonna check a restaurant supply store and see if they have it cheaper. Maybe like Smart N Final.
