Thinking of making my fully legal maiden voyage to "Housing Works Cannabis" today to pickup a little "Black Diamond" sativa and "La Bomba" hybrid ... a little expensive on the sticker price but no membership fee and the tax doesn't look ridiculously steep at 13% so I need to at least give it a go ...

Okay, we'll be curious to hear the report, and it sounds tasty but so far this place holds nothing for me, or it would have to be dire circumstance.
Marketing flower only by the 1/8th for 55 or 60 bucks, that's it? I cant be in that game, use is too heavy to afford it.
And no concentrates but for a few oil distillate pens?
As the only legal rec store in the state, they look greedy to me. Or else something in the structure of NY's program is driving cost to those kind of levels - and may continue to do so? I worry about so many fingers in the pie, simply in the supply chain. To avoid market dominators, NY is not allowing vertical integration. Each step in the chain, from grow to process to retail is handed off to another company.
Nah, mostly greed. I know this is owned by a non-profit, but I assume they still like money, for their programs.
What about the tons of cannabis ready to go to waste, waiting for the retail outlets that were to open in 2022?

Agree totally ... and no quantity discount.... still may change my plans and just get the the black diamond and get a cheaper couple of eighths from Empire but want to check it out

I'm not going in there. I'd end up buying something. I don't want to support the tourist pricing. But it's great that there are legal options out there. And I'd still be glad to hear about how it works out, hopefully they lower the prices if people keep going elsewhere

Yes they have decent concentrates (prices arent great for concentrate though) and you do not need any id or med card to buy them. Its basically an illegal store that no one is shutting down, so if you pay cash you dont even need to pay tax.

Some of us have liked a store called Empire Cannabis - a gray market real-looking place that is an actual storefront (3 locations!). I've had decent live resin carts and pens, have gotten badder and sugar, things I do up with a terp pen xl.
No bummer! except for that new-market high price issue. We need a couple/few years to get squared away.
Legalization in NYC means the sweet smell of cannabis seems never very far away...you can be comfortable anywhere that smoking tobacco is allowed, even just walking down the street. I mean, you could pretty much do it before, but now a lot more folks are empowered to!

Just got home with my "legal" purchase which I'll be test flying tonight. I'll still be buying from Empire as long as it remains open (love those discount ounces for my everyday needs)... as for Housing Works, along with the higher prices and all the other negatives we already mentioned there were no samples on display to look at and take a whiff of ... just a half hour wait line outside followed by another 10 minute wait inside which led to a cash register manned by a knowlegable budtender. Nice place though but like you said @vapviking, we need a few years to get prices and inventory to where we'd like them to be.

One of the supposed benefits of buying “legal”, is ALL the products are TESTED. I couldn’t find anything on their website….

Glad you asked Rusty as I didn't bother to look at the packaging. Went back to the pouch for my Lobo "Black Diamond" and found this label with some good info and scanning the QR image leads to this site with lab reports for all Lobo products, from licensed third party laboratories within New York State. Haven't taken much of a look as yet.

I was in Brooklyn yesterday, stopped by Empire.
Other 'pot shops' all over the place, crazy.
The only thing I was looking for were concentrates- wax or batter or preferably rosin- got none of that.
Second time at an Empire that there were no 'trates on hand! Ugh.
Contary to plan I grabbed a 1/2 of Dead OG, for the appeal of the name, and it looked and smelled good. At their lowest price point, "Full Term" they call it, which I believe means outdoor grown. With the member fee and some tax, about $135 out the door. Just didnt want to leave empty handed.
I'll try some out today!

I went two weeks ago to housing works. Bit of a wait as anticpated, you can pre-order online and cut the line for pickup if you so choose. Bought an eighth of Blue Dream and La Bomba, some prerolls, gummies and Black Cherry seltzer (not bad, but it could use a little more fizz.)
An overall pleasant experience, I've found dispensary workers to be among the most pleasant people I've interacted with.
Always very happy, talk about service with a smile.
My jar of La Bomba is labelled La Bomba on top but the sku sticker on the bottom says Banana Runtz. I just sent an email to florist farms, we'll see what they have to say. Out of curiosity I scanned the QR codes, I have no idea what I'm looking at.
Both passed for Arsenic, no mention of Old Lace however.
After shopping my girlfriend and I walked down to the lower east side 10 min or so, busted out the pre-rolls for a smoke along the way, where we waited on line again, this time for pastrami sandwiches at Katz' Delicatessen. This is highly recommended. We topped off the day with a stop at the pickle guys before returning to Queens. Pot, Pastrami, and Pickles, not bad for an otherwise gray Saturday afternoon.
Stay warm today.

That does sound like a great afternoon. I would have gotten a knish too. I used to hit Sarge's Deli on 3rd ave back when I had friends in the area.

The first video I watched happens to highlight Pastrami Queen. Looks awesome after maybe some kosher kush.

I had a friend visit me last month, we hit the iheat in central park and walked over to pastrami queen for sandwiches, kreplach, and Dr. Browns. 12/10 highly reccomend.@Razhumikin, the thread led me to youtube to search pastrami recipes.

The Dr. Brown's cream soda was a special treat as a kid. The Cel-ray flavor, on the other hand, I could not wrap my head around.

The cream soda and the root beer are the jam. My parents love celray, but its lost on me. I havent tried it in like 15 years at least though, i should give it a second chance.
