I go by feeling! If I go with the low temps like 2 aren't I missing out on the CBD? I don't go higher than 2 with sativas anymore on the rare times I do use them. Im so confused by this. Ive read for PM you should go higher temp is that not so if your a lightweight? Im still saving up for 4/20 sales to get some good gear and stuff. I will go down to 3 for now and back to the lighter strains see what changes.
I know there are a lot of active components to MJ but with my pain and inflammation I figured I should be aiming for CBD....
Can you get chiesel? I found that strain very easy on the head and happy happy and more happy. Shame it's hard to get by me
Also blue cheese I find that really easy going and dreamy
I go by feeling!
Different strains affect folks in different ways I guess it's trial and error.
I think the Cheese strain available in Canada/USA is a indica strong hybrid as real cheese is clone only and quite a buzzy head and stinks beyond all belief no good on the sly.
It's pretty much the most common strain in my area it might be called uk cheese abroad? Again I think this is a hybrid unless clones have gone to America.
Hi @GenYHippie thanks for sharing your journey. I think so many folks are becoming either new users or returning to use after a long spell of dryness due to the drug wars and legal issues and lack of access. We are still in the dark ages though, some day we will understand better the "entourage effect" of not just the THC and CBD but all of the other discovered (and possibly yet to be discovered) cannabinoids, as well as the terpenoids, and other molecules.
Not to mention our pre-existing chemical makeup; some folks will need more of one thing than the other, what makes one person well will make one person uncomfortable. I recently went to a talk by the author of the book "Marijuana, Gateway to Health" (Clint Werner) and picked up the book. The science is really fascinating and moving quickly. Perhaps reading this will give you some more insight into the research that has already been done (much in other countries, but some here in the US) and how to tap into it yourself.
We are not at the level of identifying strains for specific ailments yet (and I think the Werc Shor or another testing lab wrote a great article comparing test results of strains -- strain names are misleading because the same strain can have a different name at a different dispensary or in another town, or there might be two purportedly-different strains that test identically!). Plus, different plants in a strain (unless they are clones) can have vastly different cannabinoid/chemical composition.
It is truly a wacky world if you are trying, as you are, to address something specific in an organized fashion. But I truly admire the persistence and attention to detail you have shown; surely you will find something soon. Maybe it is just one particular strain from one dispensary, vaped at a certain temperature (and in a given amount; often I have thought of investing in a gram scale to weigh my ground flower so I could judge better based on outcomes). Best of luck!
Of coarse Caliwisp! I received such a warm helpful generous welcome if sharing how I work my though this helps someone else im glad . Im a bit of a nerd and my sister teaches several of the sciences we had fun going over the terpenes the other day lol I even got her to smell my kens GDP to see what she thought was in it!
I do want to read some more MJ literature. So far ive been doing my reading online in forums, e-zines, and medical studies ive been able to hunt down more than the summary of. The guy my aunt put me in touch with his son is a MJ scientist in San Francisco so he will drop off stuff when he see's his dad and I call his dad to get the new bits after he reads it over.
Like you said there is still so much you have to just take their word for. Im fortunate enough to be a legal state with dispensaries geared towards medical needs but I still do my research. My "home" dispensary is pretty good about listing alternate names (like Elvis aka Blue Maui) or the parent plants from the private grower. If it came from a particular seed bank it appear they list it.
A scale is a great investment. I got a cheapie off amazon for $9 that goes up to 100 grams which is fine for the amounts I use. It tests accurate by the bud I get (they put exact weight on package) and pre measured food items. Mine only has 3 functions (gram, ounce, and another I forget lol) but they have a 5 function for $15 that does carats, grams, troy ounce, ounce, and I still forget the other one . It will be especially nice for edibles and salve but good if you grow or buy large amounts.
I see you have some GDP already. I was coming into the thread to suggest it! Hows it working for you?
Second suggestion (since were talking about terps and good smells) would be Tangie (also spelled Tan-g sometimes for some reason ). My wife who hates the smell of MJ thought I had spiked the jar with tangerine peel when I let her smell it with her eyes closed. Amazing stuff. Very mellow high too.
Also have you tried Tetra Labs' Pure Gold?
Thanks @GenYHippie for encouraging me to get a scale. I think I will treat myself today and order one from Amazon! It's hard not to geek out and get too many tools and toys, but like you say, this really helps with the "scientific inquiry". The writer/researcher I mentioned, Clint Werner, is also out of SF. Does the fellow you mentioned publish anything (even on a website)? Have a lovely day.
@GenYHippie thanks I rewarded myself with one of these: http://www.amazon.com/MyWeigh-MXT-100-Digital-Scale/dp/B0015QYACW and a 100 gram calibration weight! Woo-hoo. I got the weight for only $4 as an Amazon "add-on." Yes I love the deals. Take care!
Jyarz for storage. There's a thread on FC. I think it's jyarz.com
These are the best. They hold about 3 gms, and keep bud amazingly fresh.
Unfortunately, I am way too medicated to help with any of the rest, as I can't remember all the good stuff I know!!
Message the Jyarz dude. He's got others - he's been trying several kinds. He may have some of the other non-latex ones still.
Ah, yes... it was the (herbalaire?) I've heard on the threads here that it is a very versatile, easy-to-use, table top vaporizer that will do bags or whip. Very inexpensive. It was actually on my short list at first, but I went Vapir NO2 instead, and I wish I would have gone the other way!
Someone should be able to chime in on that... I think @lwien maybe has one, not sure.
The Herbalaire is great, but it seems like a log would serve you much better (small amounts, easy to dose, ease of use, etc.).
The HA, and logs can be used without any tubing/whips. They both work great upside down.
I have a small drawer full of glass jars that are perfect for storage. From large on down to babyfood sized. A few of those silica packs if I'm going for long term storage.
A straight tube (or small beaker) can be had for around 50-60. A great investment.

(I'm using small piece of silicon to mate the stainless steel tip to the glass)
Can you get blue cheese? I find that a lovely half way house more dreamy and relaxing doesn't put you to sleep or make you jittery.
